Biblical Abundance

Three Steps to True Biblical Abundance
Pastor Benny Hinn

When the Holy Spirit came to earth, as recorded in Acts 2, the church saw three things happen:

    Multitudes were saved.
    Multitudes were healed.
Great abundance came to the believers.

The Bible tells us:

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold. (Acts 4:33-34)

Our Lord Jesus promised: “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29).

We not only have everlasting life, but we will receive an abundant harvest in this life!

Divine prosperity is God’s will for you!
All you and I have to do is simply obey the Lord: “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do” (Deuteronomy 29:9).

Divine prosperity is the legal right of every covenant child of God: “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

It’s not God’s will for any to perish, nor is it His will for any of us to live in sickness or in poverty. Poverty comes only when the Word of God is disobeyed, for we are given this promise: “Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured” (Proverbs 13:18).

Honor means favor in your life, your family, and your business dealings: “The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” (Deuteronomy 28:8).

When we obey the Word of God, prosperity will be the immediate result: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” (Job 36:11).

Obedience, Prosperity, and the Coming Wealth Transfer
So simply put, prosperity is the result of obedience to God’s Word, not the result of luck or chance.

The Bible tells us true prosperity is found in the house of the righteous, not the house of the wicked: “Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner” (Proverbs 13:6).

In fact, the wicked one day soon will lose their wealth so you might gain it: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Proverbs 13:22).

Debt is not the will of God for you. Debt is bondage like any other bondage. Proverbs 22:7 tells us, “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”

Debt is pure bondage. God’s will is for you to be delivered from that bondage. That liberty is yours, and it can come to you quickly. All you have to do is put the Lord first in your life and obey His law.

Obedience—Three Steps
Specifically, what does obeying Him involve?

The first step in obeying Him comes through loving and seeking Him: “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me” (Proverbs 8:17). As a result, abundance will come our way: “That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures” (Proverbs 8:21).
The next step in obeying is giving. As a result of loving Him, we will obey His law and give as He commanded us to give to His work: “Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10). We love Him, and, as a result, we obey Him by giving.
Then we call on Him, asking for Him to prosper us. Do not be ashamed to ask God to prosper you. It is His pleasure to pour abundance upon you because of your obedience, but you must also ask for it. Don’t just sow for it, but ask for it. David prayed specifically for prosperity: “Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity” (Psalm 118:25).

It’s time to put our Lord Jesus first!

It’s time to sow into His work and obey Him!

It’s time for you to pray earnestly that God will prosper you!

I’ve shared Scripture again and again here to prove the truth of biblical prosperity. Put Jesus first today and sow your seed today asking the Lord to make 2013 the greatest year you’ve ever known.

Sow your seed now with mighty expectation for today and the future, for our Lord Jesus declared, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38).

This is your time to prosper and secure your financial future!

Again, be in prayer for our services in Indonesia, that “the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you” (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

Watch for Part Two of this series soon.

For the glorious cause of
our Lord Jesus Christ,

FAITH GIVES SUBSTANCE TO THINGS HOPED FOR

Do you know that giving to you actually brings joy to God’s heart? When you place a demand on Him to heal you or to provide for you, you let Him be God. When you draw on His fullness and His abundance of life, health and blessings, you delight His heart!

MAKE YOUR MOVE :

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness'" (2 Corinthians 12:9a, NKJV)

We all go through seasons of difficulty and face storms in life. But during those times, we have to remember that Almighty God is greater than any struggle we face! He’ll take those challenges and use them to strengthen us, but we have to do our part and take a step of faith toward the victory.

Think about the caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly. When it’s wrapped in its dark cocoon on the backside of some tree, it doesn’t look like it has many options. But inside that cocoon as it becomes a butterfly, it doesn’t just sit and wait for someone to come and let it out. No, that butterfly knows that it has to make a move if it’s going to be set free to fly. In the same way, we have to do something to get out of the confining places we are in. We have to pray, we have to believe, and we have to press through to victory.

Today, no matter what you may be facing, remember His grace is sufficient for you. His strength is made perfect in you. He has given you everything you need to overcome in this life. Now is the time to break free and rise to new levels because He has victory and blessing prepared for you!

HE WILL FINISH :

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6, NIV)

Are you believing for something that seems like it’s taking longer than you hoped? Maybe you’ve been praying for a loved one. Maybe you’ve believed for a situation to change for years. Don’t get discouraged. God is going to finish what He started! He is a faithful God, and He has something unmatched, unparalleled coming your way — favor, breakthroughs, restoration like you haven’t seen before!

God has been good to all of us in the past, but I believe we’re coming into a time where we will see greater anointing, greater power and greater victories! The key is that we have to stay in agreement with God. We should get up every morning and say, “Father, thank You for Your unprecedented favor. Thank You for the immeasurable, unlimited, surpassing greatness of Your power.” If you keep standing in faith, I believe you’re going to come into more of those days where you stand in utter amazement and say, “Wow, God! I’ve never seen anything like this before!”

Remember, scripture says, “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?” No, nothing is impossible when we put our faith and trust in Him. Keep standing today, keep believing, keep hoping because God has something astounding in store for your future!

NO MORE LIMITS :

“They turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel” (Psalm 78:41, KJV)

God is a god of increase. He wants to take you to new levels and higher heights. But sometimes, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut and just settle for status quo. Sometimes we think, “Well, I’ve reached my limits. I’ve gone as far as I can go. This is as happy as I’ll ever be.” But if we’re going to continue to increase and really experience God’s best, we have to align our thinking with God’s thinking.

It’s interesting that in this scripture, the people limited the Holy One of Israel. Think about that. You and I can actually limit the all-powerful, Creator of the universe. How? By our thinking. What we believe either opens the door for God to move or it closes the door. God is limited in our lives by what we believe. So many people don’t even realize that it’s their own wrong thinking that keeps them in mediocrity.

Today, why don’t you take the limits off by choosing to believe God?! Feed your faith by studying His Word. Keep an open heart and mind before Him. Allow Him to work in your life and watch Him open up doors of blessing that you’ve never seen before!

CONSIDER

Faith in God is the fuel that carries you forward to victory and will move mountains into the sea.

If you can accomplish your dreams in your own strength, your own talent, with your own resources, then your dreams are too small.

You may have missed opportunities or blown chances at some time. But the good news is that God always has another season. He will restore the years that have been stolen.

When you place your trust in God, He will accelerate His plan for your life. You will accomplish your dreams faster than you thought possible.

Whatever your critics say about you has no bearing on your worth. You are a child of the Most High God.

If you're worried that you don't have enough time to accomplish your dreams and goals, remember, God can do in a split second what might otherwise take you many years.

Bitterness, envy or unforgiveness will hinder the move of God in your life and cause you many unnecessary problems

A Bruised Reed

A Bruised Reed

A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. Isaiah 42:3

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."  Matthew 11:28-30

Men can and will be cruel and heartless including religious ones but not Jesus Christ who is gentle and lowly in heart and a bruised reed He will not break, and a smoking flax He will not quench. We have many good illustrations in the gospels of the love, understanding and compassion of Jesus towards the sick, afflicted and bereaved. The bible records for our profit and instruction:

Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him.  And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!" Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!"  So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"  They said to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened." So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.  Matthew 20:29-34

Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep."  Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise."  So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has risen up among us"; and, "God has visited His people." Luke 7:11-16

Yes, the Jesus who had compassion and touched the eyes of the blind men so that they immediately received their sight and had compassion on the widow whose only son had died and raised him from dead, is alive and well and ready to do miracles for those who come to Him. It’s not God who wants to see His people sick, afflicted, poor and needy, it’s the devil. It God who wants to visit His people and to give them their needed miracles!  His Love, character, compensation and Miracle working power has not changed. Hence we can stand in agreement with God word Psalms 138:8, 103:3, 107:20, Isaiah 53:5 and Matthew 18:18, that He is perfecting the things that concern us, by the stripes of Jesus, we are healed, whole and complete, and the enemy is bound and cast out of our and our loved ones lives in the name of Jesus! God’s word is unchanging:

If you extend your soul to the hungry  And satisfy the afflicted soul,  Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,  And your darkness shall be as the noonday. The LORD will guide you continually,  And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones;  You shall be like a watered garden,  And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you  Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;  And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,  The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.  "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,  From doing your pleasure on My holy day,  And call the Sabbath a delight,  The holy day of the LORD honorable,  And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,  Nor finding your own pleasure,  Nor speaking your own words,  Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,  And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.  The mouth of the LORD has spoken." Isaiah 58:10-14

And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations,  And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.  Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, And the sons of the foreigner Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God.  You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,  And in their glory you shall boast. Instead of your shame you shall have double honor,  And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double;  Everlasting joy shall be theirs.  "For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering;  I will direct their work in truth,  And will make with them an everlasting covenant.  Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,  And their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them,  That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed." Isaiah 61:4-9

Yes, God has promised double honor and great blessings including financial for those who trust Him, obey His voice and walk in His ways!  Mind you there are those who are evil and wicked and throw people out of the church because they don’t real know or have seen God! God’s word is unchanging:

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.  Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God. Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true. 3 John 1:9-12

While wisdom and knowledge and understanding are very important things in our lives and are to be acquired, they cannot substitute the importance of having love. Hence our prayer should always be, “Lord let me walk continually  in the Spirit of the Lord so love, compassion and power will be demonstrated and not in the flesh where nothing will be accomplished!”  Mind you those who are of the flesh accept the arguments of Cessationsim concerning the gifts of the spirit and believe that the supposed ‘second blessing’ theology is exegetically wrong and pastorally divisive as it  allows suffering people to writhe in self-inflicted guilt because they ‘do not have the faith to be healed’  which is also un-Scriptural. Even though Jesus Christ in His miracle ministry healed all (Matthew 4:24, 8:16, 12:14, 14:14, 15:30, 19:2 & 21:14), many so called Christians believe that not everyone will be healed. And maybe as a result of their lack of faith, not everyone is healed?

But since the kingdom has dawned and is operating, we should expect signs and wonders as surely as we expect conversions. Signs and wonders include exorcism, healing the sick, and words of knowledge. They not only serve to confirm the Christian’s faith, but they are necessary manifestations of the kingdom’s presence and advance.  In the sphere of all evangelism, signs and wonders must find a place or the gospel we present is defective and robbed of its power. God’s word is unchanging:

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."   In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."  Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; "for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it." Luke 10:17-24

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;  but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31

TITHE

YOU CAN TITHE AND STILL BECOME BROKE

SINCE MOST CHRISTIANS ARE NOT CHRISTIANS WHY ARE WE SURPRISED THAT THEY LIVE AND WALK IN THE FLESH AND DO THE WORKS OF THE FLESH AND DON'T LIVE AND WALK IN THE SPIRIT? AND DEAD CHURCHES DEVOID OF MIRACLE SIGNS AND WONDERS PRODUCE DEAD PEOPLE.YOU CANNOT GIVE LIFE TO OTHERS IF YOU YOURSELF DON'T HAVE IT. YOU CANNOT LEAD OTHERS ANY FURTHER THAN YOU HAVE GONE YOURSELF. AND MOST PASTORS ARE HIRELINGS WHO ONLY KNOW SLIGHTLY MORE THAN THE SHEEP AND HAVE A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENY IT'S POWER? AND FINALLY YOU CANNOT SOLVE A PROBLEM UNTIL YOU ADMIT THERE IS A PROBLEM. AND DECEPTION AND DENIALS IS VERY COMMON AMONG PROFESSING CHRISTIANS!

Many of God’s people have given money away from wrong reason or have sowed it into the bad soil of false ministries and have received back from God nothing in return. We must be wise with what we do with our money, talents, and blessings that God entrusts us with and not just give it a con man who comes along, even if he is a preacher!  Just because people tithe to a certain church or ministry doesn’t mean that they will not be robbed by that ministry. We have an example of this in the financial crash in 1999 of the Baptist Foundation of Arizona, resulted in the largest collapse of a religious financial institution in the nation's history resulted with many elderly sheep robbed, hurt and devastated. The fact was that most of sheep were "tithers" and many didn't understand how God would allow them to be robbed.

Through the '90s, brochures extolled BFA's "Biblically based" investment plans, and urged faithful Baptists to "do good by doing good," becoming "bolder stewards of their God-given resources." Helpful salesmen made house calls." The Baptist Foundation pamphlets stated:

BFA's Biblically-based stewardship perspective...

"Stewardship Investing" through the Foundation is a TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY TO BE FOUND FAITHFUL ABOVE and BEYOND the TITHE TO YOUR LOCAL CHURCH...

EACH YEAR, AN INDEPENDENT AUDIT of BFA is CONDUCTED BY ONE OF THE LEADING ACCOUNTING FIRMS IN THE NATION.

We know that for most of you, our common ties to the churches are one of the most important reasons you invest with BFA, CFP, and NCV, AND THOSE SAME TIES CAN HELP CARRY US THROUGH THESE DIFFICULT TIMES.

But the reality was that the Baptist Foundation of Arizona, a subsidiary of the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest protestant denomination in America, used Southern Baptist pastors and former pastors as sales representatives to rob 13,000 mostly elderly Christians by promising high returns, the security of church backing, and the chance to help Baptist charities. It was nothing but a fraud and a big Ponzi Scheme.  As recounted by The Wall Street Journal, many of the foundation's investors were elderly churchgoers "attracted by the foundation's offer of above-market returns on promissory notes and other investment products, and by its mission of using earnings for good works, such as building churches and nursing homes for the poor. The foundation had become a Ponzi scheme, needing to raise tens of millions of dollars to pay the high returns it had promised to earlier investors. According to the lawsuits, a key reason why the scheme lasted "as long as it did ... was that accounting firm of Andersen continued to certify the foundation's financial statements and dismissed multiple warnings by individuals that the foundation was defrauding investors." The foundation was organized to raise funds for Southern Baptist–related charities. However, it has contributed only about $1.3 million to such groups over its half-century of operation. By contrast, in 1996 BFA spent $16 million on staff salaries and $329,000 on staff automobiles. It also invested in a long series of shaky loans and dubious real estate deals, primarily with companies controlled by members of its board.

God’s house today is His people who are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are to do good to all men especially those of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10) and we are not to rob them by any means. The Top 10 scams[i] as listed by the North American Securities Administrators Association, ranked by the organization in order of prevalence or concern are:

1. Unlicensed individuals, such as life insurance agents, selling securities.

To verify that a person is licensed or registered to sell securities, call your state securities regulator. If the person is not registered, don't invest.

2. Affinity group fraud.

Many scammers use their victim's religious or ethnic identity to gain their trust --knowing that it's human nature to trust people who are like you --and then steal their life savings. From "gifting" programs at some churches to foreign exchange scams targeted at Asian Americans, no group seems to be without con artists who seek to exploit others for financial gain.

3. Payphone and ATM sales.

In early March, 25 states and the District of Columbia announced actions against companies and individuals -- many of them independent life insurance agents --that took roughly 4,500 people for $76 million selling coin-operated customer-owned telephones. Investors leased payphones for between $5,000 and $7,000 and were promised annual returns of up to 15 percent. Regulators say the largest of these investments appeared to be nothing but Ponzi schemes.

4. Promissory notes.

Short-term debt instruments issued by little-known or sometimes non-existent companies that promise high returns --upwards of 15 percent monthly --with little or no risk. These notes are often sold to investors by independent life insurance agents. In Indiana, 18 elderly investors lost some $1.4 million in a promissory note scam. An 80-year-old woman lost her life savings of $324,000. Interestingly, this is the scam that has been most used in Ponzi-scheme banking in Eastern Europe, notably Albania and Romania.

5. Internet fraud.

Scammers use the wide reach and supposed anonymity of the Internet to "pump and dump" thinly traded stocks, peddle bogus offshore "prime bank" investments and publicize pyramid schemes. Roughly half the states have Internet surveillance programs that watch for fraud or investigate investor complaints.

6. Ponzi/pyramid schemes.

Always in style, these swindles promise high returns to investors, but the only people who consistently make money are the promoters who set them in motion, using money from previous investors to pay new Investors. Inevitably, the schemes collapse.

7. "Callable" CDs.

These higher-yielding certificates of deposit won't mature for 10 to 20 years, unless the bank, not the investor, "calls,'. or redeems, them. Redeeming the CD early may result in large losses --upwards of 25 percent of the original investment. In Iowa. for example, a retiree in her 70's invested over $100.000 of her 97-year-old mother's money in three "callable" CD's with 20 year maturities. Her intention, she told her broker, was to use the money to pay her mother's nursing home bills. Regulators say sellers of callable CDs often don't adequately disclose the risks and restrictions.

8. Viatical settlements.

Originated as a way to help the gravely ill pay their bills, these financial interests in the death benefits of terminally ill patients are always risky and sometimes fraudulent. The insured person gets a percentage of the death benefit in cash; investors get a share of the death benefit when the insured dies. Because of uncertainties predicting when someone will die, these investments are extremely speculative.

9. Prime bank schemes.

Scammers promise investors triple-digit returns through access to the investment portfolios of the world's elite banks. Purveyors of these schemes often target conspiracy theorists, promising access to the "secret" investments used by the Rothschilds or Saudi royalty. In North Dakota, state securities regulators are alleging a small group of salesmen, including a local pastor, used religion and family ties to bilk investors out of $2 million in a prime bank scam.

10. Investment seminars.

Often the people getting rich are those running the seminar, making money from admission fees and the sale of books and audiotapes. These seminars are marketed through newspaper, radio and TV ads and "infomercials" on cable television. Regulators urge investors to be extremely skeptical about any get-rich-quick scheme.

For I Believe God

For I Believe God

'For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.  'Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. Exodus 12:12-13

"Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. Acts 27:25

All things are possible to those who believe including impossible dreams such as knowing the power of God’s love, His mercy and the power of His grace and greatness!  For those who will let him, God will take them by the hand and bring them into new lands and show them the greatness of His  power if they will only believe!"

For those who believe God has no problem meeting all their needs and dealing with all that is committed into His hands so that He may receive the glory for what has been done. For those who believe God has no problem to show Himself strong and prove to this wicked world that He is  God and the King of kings.  God’s great and wonderful power shall flow through believers as they desire and believe Him to even in the midst of great destruction including financial circles.

In this day and time, trouble seems to surround us on every side. If it's not a failing economy, it's a failing business, a failing marriage, or failing health. Yet, in the midst of seemingly overwhelming problems, God has promised to deliver us just like He delivered Apostle Paul who was on his way on a ship to Italy under the care of a Roman Centurion. The bible records”

Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them, saying, "Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives." Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul.  And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to set sail from there also, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete opening toward the southwest and northwest, and winter there.   When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their desire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete.  But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon.  So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let her drive.  And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda, we secured the skiff with difficulty.  When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands, they struck sail and so were driven.  And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. On the third day we threw the ship's tackle overboard with our own hands.  Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up.  But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, "Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.  "And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.  "For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,  "saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.' "Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.  "However, we must run aground on a certain island." Acts 27:9-26

As a result of Paul’s words and faith not one of the 260 persons on the ship  when they ran the ship aground. They all escaped safely to an island Malta where the natives showed us unusual kindness. And where when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.  But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. And the bible records:

In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary. Acts 28:7-10

God not only delivered Apostle Paul and his companions in the midst of a deadly storm but He also used him to be a blessing. When the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came they were healed. Jesus and Apostle Paul both proved that God’s will is healing for man. All through God’s Word He wants us healed – physically and financially. God’s plan is prosperity for the believer. In fact, according to Luke 12:32, God the Father takes pleasure in giving the Kingdom to His children. Psalm 35:27 says that God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His saints. And according to Galatians 3:13, Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law. The curse of the law as described in Deuteronomy 28 is death, sickness & disease, and poverty. Jesus died so that we wouldn’t have to. He carried our sickness & disease and by His stripes we were healed (1 Peter 2:24). The price for our healing has been paid. And according to 2 Corinthians 8:9, "He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."  There is no doubt that eternal life, health, and prosperity is God’s will for every believer. And God’s word is unchanging:

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2

Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.  And when I come, whomever you approve by your letters I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem.  1 Corinthians 16:1-3

Apostle Paul told us that in the New Testament that he had given orders to the churches of Galatia concerning the collection for the saints; On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper. There was no discussion about:

God put forth a plan for His house on this earth to be blessed. We know that the church building is not the church. Every born again believer is the church and their body is the temple of God. However, the local church is where the body of believers meets and is God’s storehouse.

God’s plan is for each believer to place ten percent (the word tithe means a tenth) of their increase into the storehouse. With every church member being obedient to this, there is sufficient bread in God’s house. The more a Christian prospers, the more they have to give. Ten percent of a million dollars is greater than 10% of nothing.

Unfortunately it has been publically shown that many pastors in America such as Pastor Randy White of Church Without Walls who preach the tithe use it to spend it upon their lusts not the sheep as reported by Athletes and evangelists cross paths By John Barr  ESPN

TAMPA, Fla. -- Bishop Randy White and his wife, pastor Paula White, once headed up one of the fastest growing Christian congregations in the country. In its heyday, Without Walls International Church boasted more than 23,000 members, took in as much as $40 million a year in donations and attracted dozens of professional athletes to its high-energy services.

Some of the athletes were so moved by the Whites' message of prosperity through faith that they donated hundreds of thousands of dollars -- one former player even donated a World Series ring -- and showered the couple with lavish gifts, such as designer shoes and expensive suits.

In the decade leading up to 2007, the Whites amassed wealth and attained a lifestyle not unlike the star athletes who came to their church. In July 2005, the couple purchased a luxury condominium in New York City's Trump Park Avenue building for $3.5 million. In 2006, they bought a home on Tampa's exclusive Bayshore Boulevard for $2.1 million, according to real estate records. Randy White owns or leases several luxury vehicles, including a 2006 Bentley, according to Florida motor vehicle records. For years, the couple had access to private jets, either leased or owned by their ministry.

Major League Baseball players Gary Sheffield, Darryl Strawberry and Carl Everett and NFL players Michael Pittman, Hardy Nickerson and Derrick Brooks were among those who attended services at a converted Canada Dry plant in Tampa, Fla., a short drive from the Buccaneers' Raymond James stadium, according to Randy White.

Today, however, most of the big-name athletes are absent from the reserved front-row seats they once occupied as VIP members, and in recent years the church itself has undergone significant upheaval. The Whites divorced in 2007 after 18 years of marriage. Without Walls, according to several former staffers, is mired in debt and bleeding membership. The church recently staved off foreclosure proceedings, and has been the subject of a Senate investigation into its finances. Church leaders have had to contend with the resulting media scrutiny.

It's a stunning reversal of fortune for a house of worship that was built on the prosperity gospel message -- a controversial evangelical Christian doctrine that teaches members that through tithing, the practice of donating 10 percent of one's income to the church, they'll be rewarded, not just spiritually but financially.

These foolish pastors should consider the fact that they are cursed by God, not blessed for Him, for stealing the tithe:

And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: "Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?  "You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock.  "The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.  "So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. "My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them." Ezekiel 34:1-6

God reprimanded and cursed the shepherds "Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves!

“Woe to the shepherds” is not a blessing but a curse when spoken by God – it definitely doesn’t mean “something good is going to happen to you?”

Is Prosperity Wrong?

Is Prosperity Wrong?

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.  The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26:12-14

THE ELDER,   To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth:  Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.  I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:1-4

God delights in the prosperity of His servants and has caused many of them to prosper, doesn’t have a problem with prosperity in the lives of His people.  He who sends the rain on the just and unjust doesn’t allow His people to have any other god’s but Him. So those who make prosperity or the love of money their god will not see His favor but rather His wrath. Now the enemy, who is a liar and a thief, steals the prosperity of God’s people and others because he is envious. But God only takes away the prosperity of His people when they do something wrong or disobey Him. His word is unchanging:

"When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

Unrepentant sin and doing evil and wicked things brings judgments and poverty upon the lives and land of God’s people. But if it is repentant off God forgives the sin and heals the land and brings back prosperity. His word is unchanging:

"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Those who teach that suffering and poverty are the will of God are purposely ignorant of the Word of God. It’s is true that innocent and blameless Job lost all his worldly possessions and suffered greatly as a result of the physical sickness that the devil afflicted him with. Nevertheless God’s word is unchanging:

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:19

"Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;  I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." Psalm 91:14-16

Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord-that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. James 5:11

Yes, although many are the afflictions of the righteous, the LORD delivered Job out of them all and restored double all his real losses. And He has promised to do the same for anyone who is righteous, set his love upon the Lord, knows His name and calls upon Him. And God unlike others keeps His word! He will give to the enduring and persevering righteous the end intended by the Lord because the Lord is very compassionate and merciful. And yes, because our God is a good and powerful God we can have victor today in all things. If something doesn’t work it must be because we are doing something wrong. We need to go back to the manufacturer’s manual, the Bible, and see what is wrong? There is no sickness, diseases, poverty, loss or judgment in heaven. Heaven has no shortage of any good thing. Heaven is full of abundance which God wants to make real on earth according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. God’s desire and will for His children, just like any earthly parent, is for them to be health, wealth, rich, prosperous and successful and He gives them the power to make it so!

So if good things are lacking in the lives of God’s children including perfect health and abundant blessings, they need to go to the Word of God and check out what they are doing wrong including considering their ways? For if they build God’s house He will remove drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of their hands and will open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing that there will be no room to contain them! God’s word is true:

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,  That there may be food in My house,  And try Me now in this,"  Says the LORD of hosts,  "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing  That there will not be room enough to receive it. "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,  So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,  Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,"  Says the LORD of hosts; Malachi 3:10-11

Yes, through the LORD'S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.  The LORD, Himself, is our portion" therefore we can put our trust in Him and hope in Him!  The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.  It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. God’s word is unchanging:

My soul still remembers And sinks within me.  This I recall to my mind,  Therefore I have hope.  Through the LORD'S mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.  "The LORD is my portion," says my soul,  "Therefore I hope in Him!"  The LORD is good to those who wait for Him,  To the soul who seeks Him.  It is good that one should hope and wait quietly  For the salvation of the LORD. Lamentations 3:20-26

May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;  May He send you help from the sanctuary,  And strengthen you out of Zion;  May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah  May He grant you according to your heart's desire,  And fulfill all your purpose.  We will rejoice in your salvation,  And in the name of our God we will set up our banners!  May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.  Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed;  He will answer him from His holy heaven  With the saving strength of His right hand. Psalm 20:1-6

God who desires that we should be without inadequacies...we should be perfect and complete... will exalt us. He will perfect us. Wipe away our tears. Suppress the whirlwind snowstorm of poverty and debt-trap. He will give us the shield of financial prosperity as we wait upon Him. (Nothing is wrong with prosperity, of course, but there are two huge qualifiers. First, those who prosper need to remember the ultimate source of all their good things. Second, if some prosper while neglecting the needs of the poor, then God no longer takes delight in their prosperity.)  Poverty, like a snowstorm, attempts to destroy our life. In our worldly life, financial discrepancies, Debt- burdens penury... perplex us. According to Ecclesiastes 7:12, "money (wealth/riches) is defense" Ecclesiastes 10:19 says, " money answers everything." That is why God is ever ready to save us from the terrible whirlwind of poverty by providing us with financial strength for He is our refuge and strength in time of trouble. His word is unchanging:

"The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men." Psalm 11:4

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31-32

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time." 1 Peter 5:6

Is Anger Wrong?

Is Anger Wrong?

And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. And He said to the man who had the withered hand, "Step forward."

Then He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they kept silent. And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.  Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him. Mark 3:1-5

Daniel Goldman, in his book Emotional Intelligence, advocates that we take the “Aristotle Challenge” which states: “Anyone can become angry—that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way—this is not easy.” From the human point of view, Aristotle was right. However, from the divine Creator’s view, it is easy through His divine empowering presence within the human heart. The bible records how Jesus was angry at the religious hypocritical leaders who were more concerned if Jesus would heal on a Sabbath than if a man with a withered hand was healed. Jesus was grieved at the hardness of their hearts and proceeded to heal them man and said to him, Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.  Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him. Yes, there is a place in life for anger against injustices and foolishness of men and demon. But the Word of God doesn’t allow us to fester on that anger and to do something negative with it. God’s word is unchanging:

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath,  nor give place to the devil.  Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.  Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:26-31

There are not only real consequences to uncontrolled anger but it also brings upon some serious diseases. I had wondered why Elijah went to heaven in the chariot and Elisha who had double his anointing died of a disease. The bible records:

"Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die...." 2 Kings 13:14

At first glance here is no indication that Elisha had sinned causing God to put a disease upon him; however, when we look close we see that Elisha was given to anger.   The bible records:

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, "You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times." Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. 2 Kings 13:19-20

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. 2 Kings 2:23-24

Earlier, Elisha was angered and cursed forty-two children causing two female bears to kill them because they called him "baldhead." but Elisha himself did not make the bears kill the children. He commanded the bears IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, and the Lord drove the bears to kill these children. Why? Because disrespect of God's ordained prophet was the same as disrespect of God. It was a dangerous thing to mock God's anointed (1 Samuel 26:9; 2 Samuel 1:16; 1 Chronicles 16:21-22; Psalm 20:6, et. al).  Elisha spoke for God, and these children blasphemed God when they mocked God's man. Disrespect of parents (Exodus 21:15, 17) was also punishable by death - would that shock the baby doctors who taught a generation of parents to avoid punishing their children? Elisha was angered, but it was not his anger that killed the children, but God's anger against a sinful and foolish generation who blasphemed His messenger. There's a parallel there, I think, for our children die in disease (HIV, AIDS, STDs), under drug abuse, in highway accidents, and even under their own hands because the parents of this generation have raised many who disrespect God and His anointed.  However, it doesn’t pay to fester anger or to be an angry person as our bodies were not built for anger but for love.  Mind you Godly anger is never wrong, though we must never allow anger to fester and turn into vengeance.

Anger causes us to do some foolish things. Moses grew up as the grandson of the Pharaoh, was tutored in the king's palace and made a name for himself,  however his anger caused him to slay the Egyptian who was beating up on one of his own people (the Israelites), and  he had to flee for his life.  He left the palace and went to the back side of the desert.  He married the daughter of a shepherd and lived in either a tent or cave for some forty years.

Moses killed an Egyptian because that person harmed God's chosen, Israel (Exodus 2:12). When God called Moses at the burning bush, at no point did he condemn nor even mention Moses action against the Egyptian. In fact, the only one who ever raised a cry against Moses was Pharoah. This is a far cry from God's treatment of Cain, who killed his brother, and was immediately (Genesis 4:7-13) cursed for spilling his brother's blood. In Moses' case the killing was ignored - perhaps because it was done in defense of God's anointed. Yet God’s word is unchanging:

Then Moses said, "Thus says the LORD: 'About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt;  'and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. 'Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again.  'But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the LORD does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.' "And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, 'Get out, and all the people who follow you!' After that I will go out." Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.

But the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not heed you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt."

So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land Exodus 11:4-10

Moses was justifiably angry at  Pharaoh and told him that all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. But the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not heed you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt."  So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land. And the judgment came as a result and God killed all the first born in Egypt except against the children of Israel.

Moses uncontrollable anger caused problems for him. Once the children of Israel were delivered out of Egypt Moses anger was aroused against his own people causing the death of many. Moses even broke the Ten Commandments in the process when his anger became hot. The bible records:

So it was, as soon as he came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing. So Moses' anger became hot, and he cast the tablets out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.  Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it in the fire, and ground it to powder; and he scattered it on the water and made the children of Israel drink it.  And Moses said to Aaron, "What did this people do to you that you have brought so great a sin upon them?"

So Aaron said, "Do not let the anger of my lord become hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.  "For they said to me, 'Make us gods that shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.'  "And I said to them, 'Whoever has any gold, let them break it off.' So they gave it to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf came out."

Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies),  then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, "Whoever is on the LORD'S side-come to me." And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.  And he said to them, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel: 'Let every man put his sword on his side, and go in and out from entrance to entrance throughout the camp, and let every man kill his brother, every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.' "  So the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses. And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.

Then Moses said, "Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, that He may bestow on you a blessing this day, for every man has opposed his son and his brother." Exodus 33:219-29

When Moses broke the first set of tablets of the Ten Commandments, again, at no point did God chastise him for his action. Moses was God's anointed, the leader of Israel, and his anger was justified. What Israel did was commit idolatry - worship of a false god - and idolatry was punishable by death (Leviticus 20:2-7). When Moses asked "Who is on the Lord's side?" he gave a clear call to see who would walk away from the idol - those who did not were killed, as per the Law of God (Exodus 20:3-5). Moses spoke in the name of God when he said, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel", and if he was speaking from his own heart or his own desires, then by God's very Law he should have been put to death (Deuteronomy 13:5).

Yes, Moses red hot anger would get him into serious trouble and this time with God.  Previously as commanded by God Moses struck the rock, and the water came out from the rock. This time God commanded Moses to speak to the rock and it would yield water but Moses got angry and struck the rock instead, causing the Lord to become angry at him and not allowing him to bring the people into the Promised Land. The bible records:

"Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink." And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Exodus 17:6

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals."

So Moses took the rod from before the LORD as He commanded him. 0 And Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; and he said to them, "Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?"  Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.  Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." Numbers 20:7-12

Moses did the same thing on two different occasions – he struck the rock. But on the second time his anger and disobedience caused a serious negative consequence. When God's anointed spoke not God's Words but his own, this was punishable by death.  This is exactly what happened to Moses the second time he struck the rock. God told him to SPEAK to the Rock, and yet Moses looked at Israel and said "Must WE bring forth water out of the rock" - then he struck it. Moses not only struck the Rock in disobedience to the command of God, but he took credit for bringing the water out of the Rock. The anointed of God is to say what God tells him to say, not make it up as he goes along. Moses did not act as God's anointed in this instance. He struck the Rock, and lost the Promised Land. Though he was not stoned, as the Law would have done, God allowed him to die looking out across the border of the Promised Land. Did anger lead him to this point? Yes, that and failure to heed God's Word. But God forgave Moses and he did get to see the Promised Land with Elijah and Jesus. The bible records:

And He said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power."   Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. Mark 9:1-4

Above all we must not have an unforgiving spirit due to anger at some one or something. An unforgiving spirit breeds bitterness. A bitter spirit will not take long to show its corrupting influence on the body. Bitterness is a deadly poison. It has been said that many diseases that cause distortions in the skeletal system is caused by bitterness in the soul. Bitterness in the soul also causes many kinds of skin diseases.  An unforgiving spirit cuts off the grace and mercy of God in time of need and the body is left spiritually defenseless to spirits of sickness, disease and infirmity. Jesus said in Matt. 6:14, “If ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father in heaven forgive you your trespasses.”  Jesus repeated it in Mark 11:25, “...and when you stand praying, forgive if ye have aught against any; that your Father also in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

The bottom line is that it doesn’t pay to disobey the Lord and to allow anger to control our actions. We will pay for our foolish mistakes. This is a lesson that Moses learned the hard way and a lesson that some people never learn. A person uncontrolled anger will destroy many things including his ministry if he has one. Yes, we are admonished in the Word of God to put off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of our mouths. We are to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another. God’s word is unchanging:

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.  Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,  and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,  where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.   Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;  bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:8-11
