A New Heart And Spirit

"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked;  Who can know it?  I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind,  Even to give every man according to his ways,  According to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:90-10

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.  Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

The good news with the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we don’t have to live with an old deceitful heart of stone and a spirit that is dead to God. Jesus told us out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. (Matthew 18:19, Mark 7:21-22). As a result because of all these things we walk in the judgments of God rather than His blessings. But just for the asking, we can get freely from God a heart transplant and a new spirit. God’s word is unchanging:

"Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?  "For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!" Ezekiel 18:13-32

"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.  "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. "Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.  "I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. I will call for the grain and multiply it, and bring no famine upon you.  "And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations. Ezekiel 36:25-30

A new heart is important because we will be a new creature in Christ and we will not do and say the evil and wicked things that we did before. Because of a new spirit within us we will have the power to walk in God’s statues and keep His judgments and do them. As a result we shall be greatly blessed by God for we shall be His people and He will be our God and He will deliver us from all things and bless us with all things. Because of God’s spirit within us and upon us we can hear God’s voice continually give us direction, counsel and correction. We literally can have the mind of Christ for God’s word is unchanging:

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written:  "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,  Nor have entered into the heart of man  The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.  These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.  For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:7-16

Yes, we have received, the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.  Yes, these things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  Yes, he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.  Yes, we have the mind of Christ and you cannot ask for more than this? God’s word is unchanging:

 “The God of our Lord Jesus Christ,…raised Him from the dead, and made Him to side at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.” (Ephesians 1:17-21)

“And raised us up with Him, and made us to sit with Him in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus:…for by grace have you been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, that no man should glory.” (Ephesians 2:6-9)

Yes, “God…made Jesus to sit…and made us to sit with Him.” Sit reveals the secret of a heavenly life. Christianity does not begin with walking; it beings with sitting. The Christian era began with Christ, of whom we are told when he cleansed us of our sins, “sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on High.” (Hebrews 1:3) Now, we can say that our Christian life begins with us seated “in Christ.” By faith, we see ourselves, seated with Jesus on His throne! As a result Ephesians opens with the statement that God has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3. From the beginning we are invited to sit down and enjoy what God has done for us. We are not asked to try to get it for ourselves.

Walking means effort. But God says that we are saved, not by works, but “by grace through faith.” (Ephesians 2:8) We often speak of being “saved through faith, but what do we mean by it? It means we are saved by resting in Christ. We did nothing to save ourselves. We laid on Him our sin and our sickness.  The first step in our walk of faith is to see we can do nothing to save ourselves or to heal ourselves. We must also see it was all “done” for us by Jesus. We are and always will be totally dependent upon Him for everything including salvation, healing, deliverance, blessings and prosperity. He will give us everything we need but we have to totally trust Him. “Sitting” is an attitude of rest. The work was finished by Jesus. Now, we are truly seated with Christ in Heavenly places. We are one with Him on His throne in Heaven.

How does this work out in real life—sitting in Christ? Well, it’s like sitting in a chair—we trust the chair to hold our weight as we sit on it. We get tired when we walk or stand but when we sit down we feel rested after a while. When we sit our whole body relaxes because the work is being done by something outside of our body--like a chair. This is true in the spiritual realm too, because it means we are resting the whole weight of our Christian life upon Jesus. Our load, our future, our behavior, everything is rested on Him. We understand that it is Jesus who is carrying the load and not us. We stop trying to carry it ourselves because we can’t carry it anyway.  God’s word is unchanging:

Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. Psalm 98:1

When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.  Then our mouth was filled with laughter,  And our tongue with singing.  Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."  The LORD has done great things for us,  And we are glad. Psalm 126:1-3

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. 1 John 5:4

Breaking Christian Witchcraft

We all have some sense of what witchcraft is. Some equate witchcraft with Halloween, Jack-o’-lanterns, caped women atop broom sticks, Wicca, or even Dorothy’s Wizard of OZ archenemy. The best-selling books and movies chronicling the adventures of Harry Potter continue to sanction witchcraft in our society through casting spells and mixing potions, while presenting a great saga between good and evil witches. And, of course, who could forget the ever so popular video game Dungeons and Dragons, the fantasy role playing game where players engage dark forces with their magical powers.

Even though witchcraft is often portrayed as innocent, it is strictly forbidden in the Word of God (Deuteronomy 18:9-14, Leviticus 19:31, 20:6; Isaiah 8:19).

Regardless of what some think, witchcraft opens the door to demonic forces. Package them in the latest fashion or present them on Hollywood’s silver screen, but there are no such things as good demonic powers. Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). It would be best for all to take heed to His Word.

Witchcraft is a bonafide demonic power released through various activities such as words, spells, amulets, charms, occult powers, chants, magic, drugs, potions, or directive prophecies. It’s far more than meeting in a forest to worship Mother Earth and hugging pine trees. Witchcraft is a power that influences people, gives a place to demon activity, battles against the minds of men, challenges the Church of Jesus Christ, buffets the maturity of believers, hinders church growth, comes against families, marriages and relationships, and frustrates the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Witchcraft, however, is more common that one would think. I want to break away from the traditional look at witchcraft and explore some other manifestations of this evil force. I know a true born again believer would never cast a spell or drink a potion, but could there be other forms of witchcraft mentioned in the Bible? Let’s take a look at witchcraft operations from a different perspective, through the old fallen nature--the flesh.

BEWITCHED, SPIRIT AND FLESH

Witchcraft can be released through the rebellious and the stubborn, both actions described in the Word of God as workings of the flesh. Scripture says,

“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:1-3).

Notice the words bewitched, spirit and flesh. The word bewitched, Greek baskaino, means to be charmed, seduced, or to be placed under a spell. In the Old English language bewitched comes from the word biwiccian, meaning the working or the result of Wicca sorcery. The writer of Galatians ties witchcraft to the manifesting or workings of the flesh. The meaning of flesh in this scripture is the Greek word sarx, meaning the carnal mind, or better described as the earthly nature of man apart from the Spirit of God. A person, therefore, who is “governed” by the actions of the flesh (sarx), can release witchcraft upon himself or others. No, he or she doesn’t become a Wiccan recruit, but, nevertheless, like the Galatians, enters into a foolish and illusory area of life.

THAT OLD SARX

Have you ever been around a person whose negative body language, tone of voice, stubbornness, or contentious attitude made you feel like you were walking on eggshells around them? Or his or her actions made you feel like he or she would lash out at you at any moment? Did you get a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach? Could that feeling be the result of a subtle form of witchcraft emanating from the flesh (sarx)? Even though nothing much was said, did you still feel some sort of force emanating from the person? Did you understand the nonverbal message? That subtle force from the flesh (sarx) is a form of witchcraft. The writer who corrected the foolish Galatians, the Apostle Paul didn’t stop there to make this plain to us. He said,

“Now the works of the flesh (sarx) are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness (unbridled lust), idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance (contention), emulations (jealous rivalry), wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings (evil carousing), and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:19-21).
Here Paul directly connects the works of the flesh with witchcraft, concluding that those who do (intentionally practice) such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The works of the flesh, temper tantrums, bad attitudes, negative body language, stubbornness, and negative words and confessions are all workings of witchcraft. I told you this would be a different viewpoint on witchcraft. Now you can see why there is so much written in the Word of God about the tongue (Proverbs 18:21, James 3:6).

RELIGIOUS WITCHCRAFT

When religious activity is not spiritually motivated but carnally motivated it releases a form of witchcraft, too. Motivation is everything because its source is the heart of man.
Religion also releases witchcraft when it intentionally avoids the ministry of the Holy Spirit. scripture says, “Having a form of godliness but denying the power (dunamis) thereof: from such turn away” (2 Timothy 3:5). This is a powerful instruction to Timothy from the Apostle Paul. The word form, Greek morphosis, means to have merely a shape or to look like the real thing. This religious counterfeit can be identified because it looks like the Church, yet is carnally motivated and disregards the necessity of the dunamis power of God. That dunamis power is the ministry of the Holy Spirit Himself. Paul’s final instruction is to turn away from such.

There are many religious people in the world who say they are born again yet attack the ministry of the Holy Spirit. They challenge the baptism of the Holy Spirit, miracles, and healing today, speaking in other tongues, prophecy, deliverance, fervent prayer, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit, and much more. Rather than have Holy Spirit administered lives, ministries, and churches, they hold fast to man-made programs, vain traditions, and secular social activities.

Religion releases witchcraft when it is governed by the flesh (sarx) rather than the Spirit of God. It was religious people, supposedly born again, that persistently stirred up trouble for the Apostle Paul. They couldn’t accept his teaching that it was possible to be born again without circumcision (Acts 15).

The elements of religion are a lack of spiritual sensitivity, legalism and debate, hypocrisy, self righteousness, and a form of godliness that denies the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Just get around a person who has that nasty, contentious religious spirit and you will experience the working of witchcraft from religion. Witchcraft, emanating from our flesh, is an enemy far greater that any Dorothy faced as she traveled the yellow brick road in search of the Wizard of OZ. The good news is that we can, through our love for Jesus Christ, crucify that old carnal nature. scripture instructs us to take off our old corrupted manner of living and put on the new man, which is created in righteousness and true holiness in God’s likeness (Ephesians 4:22-24). So the next time you experience the powers of witchcraft it may not be coming from some occult mystic, but from the Wizard of Sarx —the flesh.

IT'S SAD HOW PEOPLE TODAY HAVE NO FEAR OF GOD AND THINK THEY CAN SIN WITHOUT SUFFERING ANY CONSEQUENCES INCLUDING THE JUDGEMENTS OF GOD WHEN JESUS CLEARLY TOLD THEM

Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

FROM SONS TO SERVANTS :

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke. - Acts 2:18-19

You and I are living in the most exciting days this earth has ever seen. All around us God is pouring out His Spirit in preparation for the endtime revival that will bring this whole age to a glorious close.

Some of God's children are just standing by as spectators, watching Him work. Others, however, have become a vital part of it all. They've volunteered for service in this great end-time army. They've become what the Bible calls the servants and handmaidens of God.

Who are those servants and handmaidens? They are those who have committed themselves totally to their Lord. They are those who, instead of being content simply to be born-again children of God, have gone even further, stepping into servanthood out of love for the Father.

The servants and handmaidens of God are those who have said, "I want to be involved in what God is doing in this hour. I want to be His bond slave, available to do His bidding 24 hours a day."

Those who make that powerful decision are experiencing the great out- pouring of God's Spirit that Peter spoke of in Acts 2. They are the ones whose Spirit-inspired words of prophecy and prayer are releasing the power of God upon the earth. They are the ones whose words are opening the way for the signs and wonders.

Do you want to be among them? You can be. God wants you to be. In fact, He needs you to be!

He needs those who will cut every cord that binds them to this natural world. He needs people He can call on in the middle of the night for intercession. People who will get up and do it no matter how tired they may be.

That's the quality and depth of dedication servanthood requires. It's a demanding role but its rewards are rich. Those who are willing to fill that role will be God's mouthpiece here on the earth in these final days. They will be vehicles of His Spirit and of His mighty power. They will be key players in the Holy Spirit's greatest earthly production.

Make a decision now to become one of them. Take the step of faith into servanthood today.

BOTTLED WATER BINGE

Through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men. —Romans 5:18

Here in the United States, we’ve been on a bottled water binge for a number of years. Even though most people have a safe supply of water that is free and readily available from faucets and drinking fountains, they still purchase bottled water. Choosing to pay for something that I can enjoy at no cost doesn’t make sense to me, but some people believe that a product they pay for is superior to anything they receive free.

This sometimes carries over into our spiritual lives. Some struggle to accept that salvation is a gift. They want to do something to earn it. The problem is, no one can afford it. The price of salvation is perfection (Matt. 19:21), and Jesus is the only person who could pay the price (Rom. 5:18). To anyone who thirsts, He promises to “give of the fountain of the water of life freely” (Rev. 21:6).

Some people try to purchase the living water of salvation with good deeds and charitable donations. Although these are forms of spiritual service valued by God, they are not what God requires for the forgiveness of our sin. Jesus already paid the price by dying in our place, and He offers to quench our spiritual thirst when we drink freely from God’s fountain that will never run dry.

Jesus is the Living Water—
Just one drink will make you whole;
Drawing daily from that wellspring
Brings refreshment to the soul.

Jesus is the only fountain who can satisfy the thirsty soul.

 FREE TOMATOES

Everyone whose spirit was willing . . . brought the LORD’s offering for the work of the tabernacle. —Exodus 35:21

Packing groceries into the trunk of my car, I glanced at the vehicle next to me. Through the back window, I could see baskets full of bright red tomatoes—shiny, plump, and better looking than any I had seen in the store. When the car’s owner appeared seconds later, I said, “What great looking tomatoes!” She replied, “I had a good crop this year. Would you like some?” Surprised by her willingness to share, I gladly accepted. She gave me several free tomatoes to take home—they tasted as good as they looked!

We see an even greater spirit of generosity in the Israelites when they gave to build the tabernacle of the Lord. When asked to provide materials for the sanctuary, “everyone whose spirit was willing . . . brought the LORD’s offering for the work of the tabernacle” (Ex. 35:21). The Israelites eagerly donated their gold jewelry, colored thread, fine linen, silver, bronze, gemstones, and spices. Some also gave their time and talents (vv.25-26).

If we follow the Israelites’ example and willingly donate our resources, we please and honor God with our attitude and offerings. The Lord, who sees and knows our thoughts and hearts, loves cheerful givers. He Himself is the best example of generosity (John 3:16).

Dear Jesus, You gave everything You had for my sake. Help me to give with a willing heart so that my gifts will truly honor You.

The state of our heart is more important than the size of our gift

Mercy And Justice

 

So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."  And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.  "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." John 20:21-23

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 1 Timothy 1:15-17

The basis of our judicial system is not only whether a person is guilty or not guilty of a crime but the reason he did the crime. Hence we have terms as reckless behavior, negligent behavior, first degree manslaughter, second degree manslaughter, justifiable homicide and acquittal. The Court usually considers the evidence in a light most favorable to the accused. The elements of the crime of manslaughter in the second degree, each of which the state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt, are that at the time and place alleged: 1. The defendant caused the death of person. 2.  The killing was reckless. 3. The killing was not excusable or justified.

A person is reckless with respect to circumstances when the person consciously and unjustifiably disregards a substantial risk that such circumstances may exist.  The difference between reckless behavior and negligent behavior is primarily measured by the state of mind of the individual Any reckless killing of one human being, including an unborn child, by the act or procurement of another is neither murder nor manslaughter in the first degree, nor excusable nor justifiable homicide, is manslaughter in the second degree.

A person can be charged with a crime and be acquitted because there was not sufficient evidence  to sustain a  conviction. It doesn’t mean he wasn’t guilty but just that he could not be proven guilty.  In the court of law it has been established “Where a person commits an act without being conscious thereof, the act is not a criminal act even though it would be a crime if it had been committed by a person who was conscious.”  But when evidence has been given to to show that the defendant was  conscious at the time and place of the commission of the alleged offenses for which he has been put on trial and committed the offenses he must be found guilty and sentenced accordingly. God’s word is unchanging:

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.  Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people."  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:26-31

Because the earth’s government is on God’s shoulder (Isaiah 9:6, Romans 13:1-4) and has been patterned or  the copy and shadow of the heavenly things (Hebrews 8:5) in judging things we must consider is not only whether a person is guilty or not guilty of a crime but the reason he did the crime.  Each one who has been born again and filled with the Spirit of God has been made a king and priest unto our God. As a king we execute authority and judgments over things including people. As a priest we show mercy and intercede on behalf of others. And not all sins are forgiveable by us even though many Christians believe in unconditional forgiveness  and forgive people unconditionally for anything and everything.  But the bible tells us that woe comes to those who don’t repent:

Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!  "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.  "Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.  "And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him." Luke 17:1-4

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,  although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:12-14

If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death, he will ask, and He will give him life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that he should pray about that.  All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. 1 John 5:16-17

Apostle Paul received mercy and forgiveness because he did things it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. He also received mercy and forgiveness because Christians lovingly prayed for his conviction and salvation. And  that in Him first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life

Love is the  new and greatest commandment that God has given us today. And we are now commanded to love one another. Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. We are commanded in the Word of God in Romans 13:7-9 to  Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.  Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. or the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." We are also told in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 that  Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;  does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

We are also told in 1 John 4:8-11 that  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Most offenses that we do to others result from the lack of love, including the fact that we  don’t love ourselves, don’t love others and don’t believe that God loves or cares for us. As a result we kill or murder  people with our words and or deeds. God’s word is unchanging:

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8:44

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.  By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.  But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:15-18

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  We love Him because He first loved us.   If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?  And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 1 John 4:15-21

The lack of God’s love in our hearts and lives and to others through us, is a major cause of many of our sins and offenses to others for which we need to repent and receive love from God because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us (Romans 5:5).  Otherwise we shall know the judgments of God just as Jesus promised:

"For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'  "But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,  "leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. "Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Matthew 5:20-25

"And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

In dealing with others who have caused us offenses we must  loose the love of God upon all our enemies and adversaries who don’t know what they are doing. We must  forgive and release them from their sins. But for those that consciously sin against God's will, we  must pray for Holy Spirit conviction upon them that they would turn and repent. Otherwise we should loose God’s righteousness and judgment of psalm 59 and 109 upon them as per the Word of God in Matthew 18:15-20. If we don’t loose righteousness and justice on unrepentant ones, then they will continue causing unrepented offenses to others and we will be guilty for their sins  and share in the judgment of God that follows. God’s word is unchanging:

Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,  "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:  "When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.  "Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.  "Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul." Ezekiel 3:16-21

"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Matthew 16:19

But all this doesn’t change the fact that God overlooked times of ignorance, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. His  word is unchanging:

 "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.  "Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.  "And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,  "so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'  "Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising.  "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,  "because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." Acts 17:24-31

THE MEEK

DIG INTO YOUR COVENANT :

This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood. – 1 Corinthians 11:25

New Covenant. It's a familiar phrase to most of us. But do we really know what it means?

If we did, every one of us would be faith giants. Instead of struggling, "trying" to believe the promises of God, we'd be like Abraham. "Strong in faith...fully persuaded that, what God has promised, he is able to perform!" (Rom. 4:20-21).

That's the kind of confidence that welled up in Abraham when God cut the covenant with him. It was an inferior covenant to ours, made with the blood of animals. Yet it transformed a doubting Abraham into the very father of faith. Why? Because, Abraham understood the significance of it.

He knew that entering into the Covenant of Blood meant you were totally and forever giving yourself away to someone else. Once you did it, nothing would ever be exclusively yours again. All that you were, all that you had or ever would have became the equal property of your covenant partner.

During the covenant ceremony in Abraham's day, the partners exchanged coats, each one giving their authority to the other. They exchanged weapons as a way of saying, "Your enemies are now my enemies. I'll fight your fights as if they were my own." They walked through the blood of slain animals, pronouncing their loyalty to one another, even to the death.
When God made covenant with him, Abraham knew there was no longer any room for doubt. God had proven how intensely He desired to be God to him. He'd given him every thing He had and bound Himself to Abraham in a relationship that could not be dissolved. Abraham comprehended the gravity of a covenant agreement. It convinced him once and for all that God's promises could be trusted. It became an anchor to his soul.

Do you want to be a faith giant like Father Abraham? Then dig into the covenant you have with God. Study it in the Word. Let the Holy Spirit show you what really happened when Jesus became the sacrifice that ratified your covenant with God. Let Him show you what it meant when He gave you His Name (John 16:23), His authority (Matt. 28:18-20), His armor and weapons (Eph. 6:10-17).

Once you realize what Jesus actually meant when He said, "This is the New Covenant established in My blood," your life will never be the same again.

BLESSED ARE THE MEEK :

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. —Matthew 5:5

One problem with the English word meek is that it rhymes with weak, and people have linked the two words together for years. A popular dictionary offers a secondary definition ofmeek as “too submissive; easily imposed on; spineless; spiritless.” This causes some people to question why Jesus would say, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matt. 5:5).

Greek scholar W. E. Vine says that meekness in the Bible is an attitude toward God “in which we accept His dealings with us as good, and therefore without disputing or resisting.” We see this in Jesus who found His delight in doing the will of His Father.

Vine goes on to say that “the meekness manifested by the Lord and commended to the believer is the fruit of power. . . . The Lord was ‘meek’ because He had the infinite resources of God at His command.” He could have called angels from heaven to prevent His crucifixion.

Jesus told His weary, burdened followers, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [meek] and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matt. 11:29). He was the perfect model of meekness.

When we are tired and troubled, Jesus invites us to discover the peace of meekly trusting Him.

Love sent the Savior to die in my stead.
Why should He love me so?
Meekly to Calvary’s cross He was led.
Why should He love me so?

God has two dwellings, one in heaven and the other in a meek and thankful heart.

RANSOMED, REDEEMED, RESTORED!

'He provided redemption for His people.' Psalm 111:9 NIV

Ever been to a pawnshop? The idea is simple; if you need money, you take a valuable item like jewellery or a musical instrument to the shop where the pawnbroker appraises it and gives you cash. But if you don't return within the specified time to redeem the item, you forfeit ownership.

Although it was yours originally, you no longer have legal possession till you buy it back. And if you wait too long, it can be lost forever. Have you ever thought of yourself as somebody who needs to be redeemed, so you can be returned to your rightful owner? God created us to enjoy fellowship with Him. But sin caused us to fall into 'the snare of the devil...held captive...to do his will.' (2 Timothy 2:26 NAS) Restoration to God, your rightful owner, could only come through redemption. And that's exactly what God did! 'God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' (John 3:16 NKJV) Christ's death was the price of your redemption; that's how much God values you!

But redemption only becomes a reality when you realise you're a sinner, and trust Christ as your Saviour. The moment you do, He reunites you with God - ransomed, redeemed, restored to your original owner. So the question is: have you taken up His offer of salvation, the one that makes you a member of His family? If you're able to read this, it's not too late. You can do it right now wherever you are.

TRUST COMPLETELY IN JESUS

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 1 TIMOTHY 6:17

The Bible tells us clearly not to put our trust in money. Our eyes should never be on money and money should never be our goal.

It is unwise to put your trust in uncertain riches. Rather, turn your eyes upon and put your trust completely in the person of Jesus. Don’t make the mistake of pursuing the provision and missing the Provider. The Word declares that it is the Lord who gives and provides us all that we need for our enjoyment.

Beloved, when you have Jesus, you have everything. You have peace, righteousness, forgiveness, wisdom, health, power, provision, favor and every blessing. Now, this is true prosperity and good success. So anchor yourself on Him and not on material things, and enjoy the security and unshakable peace that is found only in Jesus!

RECEIVE BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH :

GALATIANS 3:5 - Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?...

Imagine that you are at a healing service. An alcoholic walks into the church reeking of alcohol. He sits behind the pianist, a nice elderly lady who has been serving in the church for 50 years. Both of them are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The healing power of God is present. In an instant, the alcoholic, who has never been in church before, gets healed. The pianist does not.

Most people, on hearing stories like this, would get upset and confused. They might ask, “Shouldn’t God heal this nice, old lady who has been serving Him faithfully all these years, and not that debauched drunkard?” You see, many people still believe that God heals only the deserving.

But that is not how God works. God looks at faith, not works. His power is made manifest in those who trust His goodness instead of their good behavior. So if we go back to the above example, God wants to heal both the alcoholic and the nice elderly pianist. All they need to do is to receive by grace, or unmerited favor, through faith.

You see, we cannot earn the blessings of God. We receive them by believing God’s love and grace toward us. If we receive the greatest blessing—salvation—by simply believing that Jesus did it all for us and not by working for it, what makes us think that the other lesser blessings can be obtained by our works?

So if my daughter Jessica falls sick, I don’t go to the Father and say, “Father, heal my daughter because I a Pastor and I preach healing to the people.” No, I go to Him by the blood of Jesus and say, “Father, I thank You that 2,000 years ago, Jesus bore Jessica’s sickness in His body. On that basis alone and by Your grace, I pronounce her healed in Jesus’ name.”

When you simply believe that you receive your blessings based on Jesus’ finished work and by His grace alone, you will receive your blessings!

JESUS IS IMMANUEL—GOD WITH US

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated,“God with us.”MATTHEW 1:22–23

Jesus is also known by the name Immanuel, meaning the Almighty God is with us. How comforting it is to know that our awesome Almighty God, who is also our loving Father, is always with us!

Now, what does it mean to say “God with us”? We must understand it the same way the Hebrew people would have understood it. The Jewish mind understands that when the Lord is with you, you become successful in every endeavor. The Bible records that whenever the Lord was with them in battle, the children of Israel were never defeated, and every military campaign ended in overwhelming success. In fact, in the battle for Jericho, the city was theirs with just a shout (Joshua 6:20)! The Lord was with them. Even in battles when they were outnumbered, they triumphed because the Lord was with them.

It is no different for you today. Jesus is with you to help you, assist you, turn things around for you and make good things happen for you. He is not with you to condemn, judge or find fault! When Almighty God is with you, good things will happen in you, around you and through you. Expect this to happen to you today!
