PROVISION

PROVISION IN THE WILDERNESS :

I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. - Isaiah 41:18, NKJV

There’s a lady in our church who is a single mom. Her family has gone through a lot of struggles. For years, she was barely making it, but every Sunday she and her two sons would be at Lakewood. She stayed faithful during her “wilderness” season because she knew she was headed to her Promised Land.

Her son, from the time he was a little boy, always said that he was going to get a scholarship to go to college. Now, he could have thought, “We’re poor. I’m at a disadvantage.” No, this single mother taught her sons that God is a God of abundance, that He can make a way when we don’t see a way. Three years ago, her son graduated number two in his high school. He received not one scholarship, not two, not five, but nine scholarships totaling over $1.3 million dollars. His undergraduate, his masters and his doctorate are all paid for at Georgetown University.

Friend, remember, God is no respecter of persons. Whatever you are believing for, whatever provision you need in the wilderness, know that He is faithful. He will provide streams in the desert and provision for you in every area of your life!

WAITING . . .

Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. —Romans 12:12

Day after day for years Harry shared with the Lord his concern for his son-in-law John who had turned away from God. But then Harry died. A few months later, John turned back to God. When his mother-in-law Marsha told him that Harry had been praying for him every day, John replied, “I waited too long.” But Marsha joyfully shared: “The Lord is still answering the prayers Harry prayed during his earthly life.”

Harry’s story is an encouragement to us who pray and wait. He continued “steadfastly in prayer” and waited patiently (Rom. 12:12).

The author of Psalm 130 experienced waiting in prayer. He said, “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits” (v.5). He found hope in God because he knew that “with the LORDthere is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption” (v.7).

Author Samuel Enyia wrote about God’s timing: “God does not depend on our time. Our time is chronological and linear but God . . . is timeless. He will act at the fullness of His time. Our prayer . . . may not necessarily rush God into action, but . . . places us before Him in fellowship.”

What a privilege we have to fellowship with God in prayer and to wait for the answer in the fullness of His time.

Pray on! Pray on! Cease not to pray,
And should the answer tarry, wait;
Thy God will come, will surely come,
And He can never come too late.

God may delay our request, but He will never disappoint our trust.

TURN YOUR LOSSES AROUND :

But God's free gift is not at all to be compared to the trespass...For if many died through one man's falling away--his lapse, his offense--much more profusely did God's grace and the free gift [that comes] through...Jesus Christ, abound and overflow to and for [the benefit of] many. – Romans 5:15

If you ever need someone to tell you how to turn things around, go to God. He's an expert on the subject. He's suffered more losses than anyone who's ever lived.

Just think about it. He lost Lucifer, His top-ranked, most anointed angel. And He lost at least a third of His other angels as well when Lucifer fell. Then He lost the man and woman He had created; and because He'd given them dominion over the earth, when He lost them, He lost it too. Any way you figure it, that's a lot of real estate down the drain!

Yet, in spite of all that, God is no loser. He's the greatest winner of all time. Do you know why? Because He knows how to turn the losses around. He knows how to use the law of giving and receiving to transform losses into gains.

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over" (Luke 6:38).

Isn't that staggering? He had every option that exists to choose from to redeem the things He'd lost. He had all wisdom and all power available to Him. Out of all that, the law of giving is what He chose to use.

He gave the most irreplaceable thing He had: His only Son. Then He backed that gift with His own faith. And when the law of giving and receiving had done its work, the Almighty Father God received not only His first begotten Son, but millions of other sons as well.

Don't despair over your losses. Redeem them the same way God redeemed His. Give and put the most powerful principle in the universe to work for you.

GOD IS WORKING IT OUT FOR YOU :

'...God...calls those things which do not exist as though they did.' Romans 4:17 NKJV

You must believe what God says about you, over what everyone else says! Stop listening to those who claim you'll never amount to anything. You might've had a bad childhood, or a failed marriage or career. '...Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before [you].' (Philippians 3:13 KJV) The Bible doesn't say that we call those things which are not as though they are. Nor does it say others have the power to speak things which are not as though they are over your life. No, it is God, through His Word, Who speaks into existence His will for your life. And you should be glad about that. You wouldn't want anybody else to have power to determine your destiny.

Our responsibility is to line up our will with God's will. When we do, He empowers us to accomplish what normally would be humanly impossible. The Bible says, '...The just shall live by faith.' (Romans 1:17 KJV) Your faith is more important than your performance. Yes, when God decrees something, we get to participate in it. But in every case, it's God who performs it. The thing you're worried about performing, God says will be done through His power. Will you experience delays and disappointments? Yes, but ultimately you won't be denied, for God has decreed it.

You say, 'But what about all my unanswered questions or all the loose ends that need to be tied up?' It's 'a done deal' as far as God's concerned. 'All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.' (Romans 8:28 NKJV) Relax; God is working it out for you.
