STAND FIRM

THE GOSPEL SAVES IN EVERY SITUATION :

Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...

Each time you hear the gospel of Christ, you are hearing God’s good news for you. And the Bible tells us that the gospel of Christ—the good news that God wants all men to hear—is the very power of God for your salvation, not just from hell, but also from illnesses, financial lack, harm, a failing marriage—every aspect of your life that needs saving!

You may say, “Pastor, I have heard the gospel of Christ, but it seems like I am one of those whom the power of God has missed.” My friend, when you hear the gospel of Christ, do you really believe it? You cannot just understand it in your mind. You must know and believe the good news in your heart, and then you will see that it is the power of God for your salvation.

But what is the good news that God wants you to know in your heart, which will release the power and salvation of God into your situation?

“For in it [the good news] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith…” (Romans 1:17) The good news is that you are the righteousness of God in Christ, which you receive from faith to faith.

This means that this righteousness comes because you have faith in His blood, not your good behavior, to make you righteous. It is from faith to faith, not faith to works, or works to works.

The good news is not preached to show you what is wrong with you. It is preached to show you what is right with you because of Jesus’ work at Calvary, in spite of what is wrong with you!

There is nothing left for you to do to earn God’s blessings for your life. You only need to hear and believe the all-encompassing saving power of the gospel of Christ to heal you of diseases, preserve you from danger, bless your finances and bring well-being to your family.

The world may say that the good news is too good to be true. But for those of us who are the righteousness of God in Christ, the good news is so good because it is indeed true!

Thought For The Day :
Hearing and believing the good news will release the power of God into your situation.

EXTRAORDINARY SHOWERS ...

There shall be showers of blessing. —Ezekiel 34:26

What do fish, tadpoles, and spiders have in common? They have all fallen from the sky like rain in various parts of the world. Fish fell on the Australian town of Lajamanu. Tadpoles pelted areas of central Japan on multiple occasions. Spiders showered down on the San Bernardo Mountains in Argentina. Although scientists suspect that the wind plays a part in these intriguing showers, no one can fully explain them.

The prophet Ezekiel described a far more extraordinary downpour—a shower of blessing (Ezek. 34:26). Ezekiel spoke of a time when God would send blessings like rain to refresh His people. The Israelites would be safe from enemy nations. They would have enough food, be liberated from slavery, and be freed from shame (vv.27-29). These gifts would revive Israel’s relationship with God. The people would know that God was with them, and that “they, the house of Israel, [were His] people” (v.30).

God blesses His modern-day followers too (James 1:17). Sometimes blessings abound like rain; sometimes they trickle in one by one. Whether many or few, the good things we receive come with a message from God: I see your needs. You are mine, and I will care for you.

“There shall be showers of blessing”—
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Daily blessings are daily reminders of God.

THE POWER TO SERVE

Luke 1:41, "And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost."

Upon hearing the greeting of Mary, John the Baptist leaped for joy inside his mother's womb (v. 44). A six month old fetus experienced unbridled emotion, voluntarily leaped for joy and was actually filled with the Holy Spirit.

It is no coincidence that the man Jesus called the greatest of all Old Testament prophets, was the only man in the Bible to be filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother's womb (Lk. 7:28).

The anointing of God that breaks every yoke is simply the manifest presence and working of the Holy Spirit (Isa. 10:27). The Holy Spirit is the part of the Godhead that empowers us for service.

God is not asking us to live for Him. He is asking us to let Him live through us (Gal. 2:20). The Christian life is not a changed life but an exchanged life. This can only be accomplished when the Holy Spirit is leading and empowering us.

Even Jesus didn't begin His ministry until he was anointed with the Holy Spirit and He was the sinless Son of God. How much more do we need to depend on the power of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. Today, be conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit in you and expect Him to supernaturally guide and empower you.

If you ask, you will receive (Lk. 11:9-13).

WHEN FATIGUE THREATENS YOU

Be still, and know that I am God. - Psalm 46:10 NIV

When you’re running on fumes, instead of berating yourself for failed attempts at ‘spirituality’, Kristin Armstrong says it’s time to ‘tie a tourniquet on the wound of busyness…[or] we’ll bleed a spiritual death. Doing more, and doing it faster, isn’t taking us to a place of peace. The distraction is nothing more than a momentary escape. Sooner or later we have to stop… Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” When we’re forced to be still the magnitude of the weight we carry becomes enormous, the loneliness unbearable. We think momentum keeps us from thinking…from feeling…from knowing sooner or later we have to stop.’ When you need to be spiritually restored, go to the throne, not the phone! No matter how good your friends are, they can’t meet your need like God can. Jesus said, ‘Come to Me…and I will give you rest.’ (Matthew 11:28 NIV) Consider it His personal RSVP to talk to Him and tell Him how you feel, like a child talks to a loving parent who can help them. Designate a special place to be alone with God, and discipline yourself to go there often. And don’t just tell Him what you need; listen for what He’s trying to tell you. Don’t be in a hurry to get back into the rat race; stay in God’s presence until you understand that the burdens you’re carrying were never meant to be shouldered alone. The most important thing: we find time for what we consider important, so get your priorities straight and ‘seek first His Kingdom.’ (Matthew 6:33 NIV) When you ‘come near to God…He will come near to you.’ (James 4:8 NIV)

GO INTO AND REMAIN IN PEACE

And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” - Mark 5:34

I had always thought that when Jesus told the woman who had been healed of a 12-year bleeding condition to “Go in peace,” He was just giving her a farewell greeting. One day, the Lord told me to check it up in the Greek. That’s when I found out that it actually reads, “Go into peace.”

I had also wondered why Jesus told her to “be healed of your affliction” when she was already healed the moment she touched Him. Again, when I looked up that phrase in the Greek, I realized that Jesus was actually telling her to be made whole, not just healed. In other words, Jesus ushered her into peace so that she could be made whole in every way—if she had been traumatized by previous medical procedures, she would have peace of mind and sound sleep.

My friend, Jesus not only wants to heal you, but He also wants to make you whole. Perhaps many things are troubling you today. Beloved, go into peace and remain in peace. How? By casting all your cares to the Lord. Keep your mind on Jesus’ faithfulness and goodness, and His perfect love for you. The Prince of Peace Himself will keep you in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3), bringing about healing and wholeness in your body and circumstances.
