GREAT POWER

THE PRAYER OF FAITH OF A RIGHTEOUS MAN HAS GREAT POWER

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

"And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go." Exodus 3:19-20.

"But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord..."Micah 3:8

"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word. By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." Acts 4:29-30

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. Acts 6:8

God’s hand is a mighty hand and is greater than any power or authority that exists in earth or in heaven. And just for the asking in faith believing God has all the power that we ever need to handle, deal or confront anything. All we need is to secure the hand of God upon our life and every Pharaoh and his army will be drowned in the Red Sea!  We all can be full of power by the spirit of the Lord just like Stephen was.

In the sight of men, Stephen was a nobody but in the eyes of the disciples he was a man of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, full of faith and power, who did great wonders and signs among the people. As a result there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.  And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. So then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God."  And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes. And because Stephen was full of faith and power he told them the truth:

"You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.  "Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, "who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it."   When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,  and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" Acts 7:51-56

Those false pharisaical religious ones who are without power hate those who demonstrate God’s power by doing great wonders and signs among the people. But christianity is not religion at all! It’s a manifestation of the supernatural. The kingdom of God is not a kingdom of theology, it’s a kingdom of power! (1 Cor. 4:20).  Hence apostle Paul told us For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit   1 Thessalonians 1:5-6).

It takes more than just words to triumph over any enemy that we face be it sickness, disease, infirmity, poverty, penury, demons or men. We need power!  It is impossible to triumph without power! The word triumph means  to be victorious or successful; win. To  triumph means we have become too much for the enemy. And this takes power! And this power comes from God who is above all power and gives power to say to failure, "Go!" and it goes; to say to abundance, "Come!", and it comes.  We need to stop being religious and step into authority and birthright of God’s mighty power which is superior to every other power! God’s word is true:

We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us,  The deeds You did in their days, In days of old: You drove out the nations with Your hand,  But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out. For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword,  Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your  countenance,  Because You favored them. You are my King, O God; Command victories for Jacob. Through You we will push down our enemies;  Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. Psalm 44:1-3

May the LORD give you increase more and more, You and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD,  Who made heaven and earth.  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S; But the earth He has given to the children of men. Psalm 115:16.

" Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. "Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:19-20

Power comes from God that allows us to trample those who rise up against us through the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is unbeatable in the conflicts of life. This is a name that reigns wherever the sun shines and at the mention of it, every knee bows – things on earth, things underneath the earth, and things in heaven! There is an anointing in that name that destroys yokes, divides the flames of fire and silences death! God’s word is true:

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Proverbs 18:10

"And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:17-18

"And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word. By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus." Acts 4:29-30

"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:10-11

All that believe have the right to use the name that is above ever other name can be named. The name of Jesus is a reservoir of signs and wonders. Once it is invoked in faith, signs and wonders are unleashed. When the name of Jesus is invoked in faith, anointing goes forth—just like when we spray a room with insecticide. This name is poisonous to every work of the devil, the wicked just have to bow to the power it carries.

In every negative situation we carry a name that is loaded with the unction required for our rescue—the emergency escape route—the name of Jesus! With that name, every Goliath will come down!  We need to ask the Lord to teach us how to use His name and to show us His right hand against all our enemies for enemies don’t submit through the greatness of tears! Our liberty is a function of the degree of His power at work in our life. It is not through the greatness of our religion, theology or doctrines either, but through the greatness of His power.

It’s time to ask for God’s power. We are born in power and we cannot afford to die the death of a weakling. The omnipotent God is our Father, so we  can’t be a symbol of weakness on the earth. We need God’s power to be released in and through us so we will become unbeatable in the conflicts of life. Christ is the wisdom and power of God (1 Cor. 1:24). If Christ dwells in us, then the power of God is resident on our inside. God’s word is true:

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:6-8

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;  strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, Colossians 1:10-13

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,  even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),  and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2:6

Our access to the riches and resources of heaven is not by intellectualism or persperitation but by the blood of the Lamb and our faith. It is time for a heart-connection with heaven for a release of power. The time has come for God to hear our voice. We need to ask the Lord to cause us to see the reality of His power as recorded in His Word and to experience this power in our everyday life. But the anointing of the Holy Spirit cannot come our way without prayer. Rain will only respond to effectual fervent prayer. This is the only switch that will turn the rain on—the kind of prayer that comes from the heart, not the head. A thirst that is genuine, established and acknowledged by the Lord, will open us up for the rain. God’s word is unchanging:

"Ask of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain..." Zechariah 10:1

"A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men." Proverbs 18:16

The anointing  only respond to effectual fervent prayers, the kind Elijah prayed on Mount Carmel. This will tame the devil and make every lion around us look like a dog. We don’t get power by wishing, we  get it by praying. Not modern day prayer, but divinely approved ones. The kind you stay on at until the answer comes. The gift of power will not come until we stir it up.

There’s a power deposit inside us, but it takes prayer to cause it to be released. Prayer is the stirring instrument that causes the release of power. This is why Jesus always separated Himself a great while before dawn, to seek the face of His Father. He was busy stirring up the gift of God in Him.

The degree to which the power of God manifests in our life determines the place where God will put us. The power of God holds our destiny, so we must go and stir it up! We have the gift of power and we  have a duty to stir it up. The only way to activate it is to get into prayers. Not once in a while prayers, but consistent prayers. If Jesus prayed always, then we have no choice. If the Son of God, born of the Holy Ghost, prayed without ceasing, we don’t have an excuse.

It is time to seek the Lord and enforce the release of His power. We need a release of the Spirit of grace and supplication upon us that will carry us along until our answers come and make our stand in prayer so as to reflect the glory of God. God’s word is unchanging:

On the land of my people will come up thorns and briers,  Yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city; Because the palaces will be forsaken, The bustling city will be deserted.  The forts and towers will become lairs forever, A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks- Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest.  Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness remain in the fruitful field.  The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,  In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places, Though hail comes down on the forest,  And the city is brought low in humiliation. Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey. Isaiah 32:13-20
