SUCCESS

TAKE TO THE SKIES

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31

A farmer tried to raise an eaglet among some chickens. The eaglet was taught to run around like a chicken and scratch the dirt like a chicken. Instead of flying, it was always taught to look down, and to run away from snakes like a scared chicken. But each time it did those things, it knew in its heart that something was wrong. One day, it happened to look up and see an eagle flying high and majestically in the sky, with a snake grasped in its talons! The eagle gave a loud shriek that resonated deep within the heart of the eaglet.

Each time the eaglet saw the eagle, it knew in its heart that it was beholding its true nature. It tried to tell the chickens about it, but the chickens just said, “Stop dreaming! You’re a chicken. We chickens are earth-bound. We don’t fly. And we’re terrified of snakes!” But the more the eaglet saw the eagle, the more it saw its true destiny. The sight and call of the eagle eventually captured its heart, so that finally, it was able to shut out the voices of unbelief, shake off its earth-bound mentality and take off to the skies to live the high life of an eagle!

My friend, God calls us eagles, and He calls us to live the high life with Him. When you were born again as a child of God, everything necessary for success, for being the head and not the tail, for being above only and not beneath, and for living the victorious life, was birthed in you. Keep seeing and meditating on your true identity in Christ—a beloved, righteous child of God destined to soar and reign in life. The more you get this into your heart, the more you’ll be able to shut out the voices that try to keep you down and defeated, and live the high life!

When you stand firm on the word of God and speak by faith, what’s been hid in the spirit realm will soon manifest for you in the physical.

THE LORD WITH YOU EQUALS SUCCESS

Genesis 39:2 - The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man…

You may have no qualification, position or money—nothing in the natural. But when the Lord is with you, you will end up with everything because He will cause you to be successful.

Joseph had nothing when his Egyptian master Potiphar bought him from the slave market. Yet, even then, it was said of him, “The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man...”

Joseph the slave a successful man? He was a nobody with nothing, not even a shirt on his back, not a dime to his name, no family members with him and no friends to turn to. All he had was the presence of the Lord. But it was precisely because of this that he was successful wherever he was. He eventually became the most powerful man in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh, who set him over all the land of Egypt. Joseph was given power, authority and riches (Genesis 41:40–44), all because the Lord was with him.

A junior college student worshiping in our church experienced good success in his examination results for the same reason. The first to admit that he was just an average student, he obtained his first ever straight As for all his subjects when he sat for the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination simply believing that he would be successful because the Lord was with him!

Another church member, who was a fresh university graduate, believed that because the Lord was with her, she would be successful in the workforce. Even though she had no work experience and was faced with a gloomy job market, she succeeded in getting her first job in a short period of time and which gave her a salary beyond her expectations. Then, in spite of a directive from the parent company to freeze the wages of all employees, she received a pay increment as well as a company scholarship for further education!

Beloved, it does not matter if you are a nobody with nothing in the natural. When the Lord is with you, you will end up with everything because He will empower you to succeed and live the abundant life. Indeed, you will end up enjoying His favor, goodness and grace!

Thought For The Day

When the Lord is with you, you will end up with everything because He will empower you to succeed and live the abundant life.

LOOK BENEATH THE SURFACE

Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly. - (John 7:24, NLT)

You may have heard that it takes six seconds to make a first impression. Most people don’t realize how many times they look at someone and instantly decide if they’re going to like them or not. The scripture says that man looks at the outward appearance of others while God looks at the heart. Now you might be thinking, “Of course, God looks at the heart. He’s God. How am I supposed to look at another person’s heart?” You may not exactly know a person’s heart, but as Jesus said in this verse, you can look beneath the surface. You can take time to get to know someone who might look or act differently than you. Don’t just write someone off because they don’t measure up to your standards. You never know how God will use that relationship in your life.

Jesus said, “Whatever you’ve done to the least of these, you’ve done to Me.” In other words, when we make quick judgments about people, it’s as if we are making quick judgments about God. Don’t fall into that trap! Instead, look beneath the surface. Look for the good in others, find some common ground and watch what God will do through the relationships in your life!

RECOGNIZING AND WALKING IN GOD'S WILL (4)

'Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.' Colossians 3:15 NIV

Don’t drive through the red light.Timing is important when you’re seeking to know God’s will. Wait until He opens the door, because ‘what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.’ (Revelation 3:7 NIV) Impatience, or acting independently of God, or ‘rushing in where angels fear to tread’ will get you into trouble. God doesn’t ask for your opinion, He asks for your obedience. Red lights are part of His strategy. A closed door is as important as an open door when God’s in control. He closed the doors to Paul at Asia and Bithynia, then opened the door for him at Macedonia (Acts 16:6–10).Heed the umpire’s call. The Holy Spirit’s role is vital; He alone knows God’s mind and takes the guesswork out of the search. Jesus said, ‘When…the Spirit of truth…comes, He will guide you into all the truth…He will disclose to you what is to come.’ (John 16:13 NAS) The Holy Spirit is committed to leading you through all issues. Remember, you don’t have to instantly be an authority on theology; the indwelling Holy Spirit gives understanding of the Scripture to guide you! The Bible says, ‘The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them.’ (Romans 8:14 NCV) He will bring a deep peace to your heart once He gets you on track. ‘Let the peace…from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds].’ (Colossians3:15 AMP) Let God’s peace in your heart ‘make the calls’ all along the way. That way you’ll never go wrong.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17).

Those who have been declared righteous through Jesus Christ are to live by faith in God’s Word, not by their physical senses. This is the lifestyle of the Believer.

How do you live a spirit-led life? By trusting in the leading of your unseen Partner, the Holy Spirit.

The day you became born-again, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13). He will guide you into success in every area of your life!

The greatest personal tutor you have for studying the word of God is the Holy Spirit. He is the Author of the book!

The Holy Spirit knows how to lead and guide you beyond what you can comprehend with your physical mind. Trust Him because God never fails!

The more you spend time fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, the more clearly you will be able to hear His voice.

Confidently expect good from God for His Word says His goodness and unfailing love will pursue you all the days of your life (see Ps 23:6, NLT).

HIS FATHOMLESS PAIN

Luke 22:44 "And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

It is interesting that Luke is the only one of the gospel writers to mention that Jesus' sweat was as great drops of blood. This is probably because Luke was a physician (Col. 4:14), and therefore, this had special significance to him.

There have been documented cases of people actually sweating drops of blood under extreme emotional pressure. This might explain why Luke is the only writer to mention the angel strengthening Jesus. Just as when Jesus encountered Satan during His forty days of fasting and temptation in the wilderness and the angels ministered unto Him (Mk. 1:13), so here, He needed supernatural strength to endure His sufferings.

The use of the words "as it were" might also mean that the sweat of Jesus was only comparable to blood in consistency or size, but it certainly underscores the effect Jesus' agony had on His physical body.

Jesus' sufferings for us were more than just physical. In the garden, before He suffered physically, He suffered emotionally, almost to the point of death. As Luke records, an angel had to come and give Him strength or the emotional struggle alone would have killed Him.

All that Jesus did was motivated solely by love. It was for the joy that was set before Him that He endured going to the cross. He didn't do what He did to save us out of pity or a sense of obligation as our Creator. He did it because He loves us.
