Count It All Joy

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:2-6

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.  Matthew 23:14

We are admonished in the word of God to count it all joy when we encounter trials of any sort or  fall into various temptations for the trial and proving of our faith will bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience as God doesn’t waste anything that comes into our lives. He has promised that He will in no wise leave, fail or forsake us and work all things for our good! We are also admonished that our faith would not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. God’s word is true:

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.  And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,  that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.  However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,  which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written:  "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,  Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1Corinthians 2:1-13

Yes, as Jesus promised, it’s the Holy Spirit who teaches all things including about the gifts of the Spirit which we also speak and no other.  Yes, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be our Friend, Comforter, Guide, Teacher, Counselor, and everything that we need. God’s word is true:

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  "of sin, because they do not believe in Me;  "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;  "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.  "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:7-15

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:27

It doesn’t make sense why God’s children look to men to be their teacher or anything else when God is their Teacher, Provider and their All! He and He alone is the author and finisher of the faith. He alone is their Savior, God, Healer, Deliverer and Baptizer in the Holy Spirit.  His word is unchanging:

"Woe to the rebellious children," says the LORD, "Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,  That they may add sin to sin; Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice,  To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore the strength of Pharaoh  Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt  Shall be your humiliation.  For his princes were at Zoan, And his ambassadors came to Hanes.  They were all ashamed of a people who could not benefit them, Or be help or benefit, But a shame and also a reproach." Isaiah 30:1-5

Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid;  Be very desolate," says the LORD. "For My people have committed two evils:  They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,  And hewn themselves cisterns-broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2:12-13

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10

God never chose intellect or our senses to be our savior. He chose Jesus Christ, the manifest word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to be the solutions to all our problems. Knowledge of the word of God without the Holy Spirit will make a person dry up. But knowledge of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God will make a person grow up and will manifest real miracles in his life. God’s word is unchanging:

Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  "And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.  "But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.  "But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.  "Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; "for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. "You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.  "But not a hair of your head shall be lost. "By your patience possess your souls. Luke 21:10-19

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.  And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city. Acts 8:5-8
