GOD IS

God Is Awesome

The works of the LORD are great,  Studied by all who have pleasure in them.  His work is honorable and glorious,  And His righteousness endures forever.  He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;  The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.  He has given food to those who fear Him;  He will ever be mindful of His covenant.  He has declared to His people the power of His works,  In giving them the heritage of the nations.  The works of His hands are verity and justice;  All His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever,  And are done in truth and uprightness.  He has sent redemption to His people;  He has commanded His covenant Psalm 111:2-9

When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.  Then our mouth was filled with laughter,  And our tongue with singing.  Then they said among the nations,  "The LORD has done great things for them."  The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad.  Bring back our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South.  Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy.  He who continually goes forth weeping,  Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:1-6

The Lord, Who is a great King over all the earth, is awesome in His works for those who trust Him and He does mighty things in their life so their mouths can be filled with laughter, and their tongues with singing. God, who is not respecter of persons and rich to all who call upon Him (Romans 10:12), restored to Job double what he had lost, will restore to His trusting ones what will he bigger and more glorious than what they had lost! Everything God does the second time around He does it better and bigger. His word is unchanging:

"Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying:  'Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing?  'Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says the LORD; 'and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, 'and work; for I am with you,' says the LORD of hosts. 'According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!'   "For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land;  'and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts.  'The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,' says the LORD of hosts.' The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the LORD of hosts." Haggai 2:5-9

God promises to do better to them then at their beginnings. He is going to make things and their life better than when they begun at the new job, moved into the new town/city/house/flat, etc, started the new relationship, when they got married, when they started working with money, etc. He will do better to them than at their beginnings! For after all He is the God who turned the water into wine, and it tasted better than the wine that was served (John 2:1-11)

And when He had done these things they would know that He is God! God will do such a work in their life that there will be no doubt that He did it and that He alone could do it as God! No one else will be responsible for the “better” that God will bring to and in their life! And no one can take the glory for it but God! His word is unchanging:

In that day the LORD of hosts will be For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty To the remnant of His people,  For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment,  And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. Isaiah 28:5-6

The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;  It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, The excellency of our God.   Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.  Say to those who are fearful-hearted,  "Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you." Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer,  And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.  The parched ground shall become a pool,  And the thirsty land springs of water;  In the habitation of jackals, where each lay, There shall be grass with reeds and rushes. Isaiah 35:1-7

God has no problem making all things new for His trusting ones.  As the LORD of hosts He has no problem to be a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to the remnant of His people. He has no problem to make their desserts blossom like a rose! He has not problem to make waters burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert or the parched ground to become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water.  He has no problem to make their enemies or contenders to become a nonexistent thing! He has no problem to save, heal, and deliver them and make them whole! He has no problem to bless and prosper them and to make them head, not tail, above not beneath. His word is unchanging:

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,  I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'  "Behold, all those who were incensed against you  Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them- Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing. For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'  "Fear not, you worm Jacob,  You men of Israel! I will help you," says the LORD  And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.  "Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth;  You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small,  And make the hills like chaff.  You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away, And the whirlwind shall scatter them; You shall rejoice in the LORD, And glory in the Holy One of Israel.  "The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.  I will open rivers in desolate heights,  And fountains in the midst of the valleys;  I will make the wilderness a pool of water,  And the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,  The myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine And the box tree together,  That they may see and know,  And consider and understand together,  That the hand of the LORD has done this, And the Holy One of Israel has created it. Isaiah 41:14-20

"And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him  "and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. Acts 7:9-10

God, who was with Joseph after his brothers sold him into slavery into Egypt and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and He made him governor over Egypt and all his house, can do everything that needs to be done for His trusting ones to save, heal, deliver, bless, comfort and prosper them! Yes, those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. His word is true:

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Now the Midianites had sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard. Genesis 37:36

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;  nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;  and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.   Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for  "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." 1 Peter 5:2-5

It's interesting that many pastors or so called Apostles believe in controlling people including their own sheep! But true Christians don’t lie and they don’t control or manipulate people. Rather they lead by example and trust in God and acknowledge Him in all their ways to direct their paths!

Joseph who was sold a slave into Egypt didn’t play the game of control with Potiphar’s wife or with his associate prisoners the butler or baker. Rather he was straight forwards and honest and trusted in God no matter what! And the LORD who kills and makes alive;  brings down to the grave and brings up;  makes poor and makes rich; brings low and lifts up in due season instantly promoted Joseph from a prison to a palace and made him ruler over all.

It’s to be noted that God Who rules over all had ordained that the Midianites would sell Joseph in Egypt to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and captain of the guard, so he might be put into prison to befriend the butcher and the baker and be brought to the attention of Pharaoh. Some arrogant and proud religious leaders still need to learn what King Nebuchadnezzar learnt the hard way:

The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?"   While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses."  That very hour the word was fulfilled concerning Nebuchadnezzar; he was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws.   And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever:  For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,  And His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing;  He does according to His will in the army of heaven  And among the inhabitants of the earth.  No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, "What have You done?"   At the same time my reason returned to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and splendor returned to me. My counselors and nobles resorted to me, I was restored to my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added to me.  Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down. Daniel 4:30-37
