FAITH WORDS: Our Faith

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. 1 John 5:4

True faith like every other good thing in life is a gift from God. Many people have faith in something but not true faith in God. As a result they are not successful or prosperous in the battles of life against sickness, diseases, poverty, lack and demons. They fail to appreciate or understand that it’s not man made or inspired faith but faith which comes from God through the Holy Spirit that gives us the victory that overcomes the world. Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith and He lives in us by the power of the Spirit. God’s word is true:

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17

So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:22-24

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

Now the Holy Spirit is more involved in the area of faith than many people realize - for faith is not only a fruit of the Spirit but also the gift of the Spirit. God’s word is unchanging:

Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. 2 Corinthians 1:14

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven-things which angels desire to look into. 1 Peter 1:12

for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:21

You cannot remove the Holy Spirit’s influence and leading in the area of faith and then think that you have faith. Faith that is not inspired and rejuvenated by the Holy Spirit is dead and useless faith that will produce no good result in the kingdom of God. Dead faith leads to errors, unbelief, heresies and spiritual impotence. True faith comes through the Holy Spirit from whom Jesus promised would cause our faith to grow by teaching and showing us all things:

"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: "of sin, because they do not believe in Me; "of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; "of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

"I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:7-15

Apostle John who was a tongue speaker, a very close friend of Jesus, an apostle of love and wrote the gospel of John understood that the Holy Spirit was the energizer and sustainer of faith. Hence he stated:

And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 1 John 2:20

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 1 John 2:27

Apostle John knew that what is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. He knew from Jesus words “unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” He knew that "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." He knew that "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." He also knew from John the Baptist that "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.” He knew that Jesus was total dependent upon the God the Father and the Holy Spirit for everything and the Holy Spirit made the Father and the Scriptures alive and real. The bible records for our profit and instruction:

But Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." John 5:17

"I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. "If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. "There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true. "You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. "Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. "He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light. "But I have a greater witness than John's; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish-the very works that I do-bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. "And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. "But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. "But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. "I do not receive honor from men. "But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God? John 5:30-44

Yes those who are led by the Spirit heard the voice of the Faith and they have His word abiding in them. They know the scriptures and live by them. They know that “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.” They prove the words of Jesus to be true:

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:37-39

So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." John 20:21-23
