The Rains Are Coming
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
Then he said to me, "These words are faithful and true." And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. "Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book." Revelations 22:1-7
The Lord the Creator of heaven and earth is the One who is the River and who created the terminology the former and latter rain. For His word is unchanging:
'And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the LORD your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 'then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. 'And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.' Deuteronomy 11:13-15.
In the light of the king's face is life, And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain. Proverbs 16:15
Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you-The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. Joel 2:23
Ask the LORD for rain In the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone. For the idols speak delusion; The diviners envision lies, And tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; They are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:1-2
It’s the Lord desire to give His people rain for their land in its season, the early rain and the latter. He has told them to ask for the rain in the time of the latter rain and He would give them showers of rain. Especially when they are in trouble because their prophets and preachers and shepherds are false, speak delusion, envision lies, tell false dreams and have led the people astray. God’s word’s records:
"They say, 'If a man divorces his wife, And she goes from him And becomes another man's, May he return to her again?' Would not that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; Yet return to Me," says the LORD. "Lift up your eyes to the desolate heights and see: Where have you not lain with men? By the road you have sat for them Like an Arabian in the wilderness; And you have polluted the land With your harlotries and your wickedness. Therefore the showers have been withheld, And there has been no latter rain. You have had a harlot's forehead; You refuse to be ashamed.
Will you not from this time cry to Me, 'My father, You are the guide of my youth? Will He remain angry forever? Will He keep it to the end?' Behold, you have spoken and done evil things, As you were able." Jeremiah 3:1-5
God, who is a God of mercy and of Justice, when He pours out judgment on the land for their wickedness, stands ready to pour out the showers of the latter rain to revive and restore them and to heal and deliver them.
Because of the prayers of God’s true ones, the River is flowing from the throne above all over the land. It is bringing great deliverance and great changes to the hearts of men. The Lord has ordained that the River flows from the north to the south and then back again. This is the Lord’s decree and command that everyone who comes to the River drinks of Him and is filled to well full if they so desire. For He desires that they walk in peace and joy in the Lord wherever they go, so they can be filled with peace and joy and bring many others to drink from the River of Life.
For the Lord is that River and He descends like a great with Hawk from the heights of Heaven and cover the land with His Wings and heals the scared and broken land. He heals the people and He heals the place and He heals the land. He is the great Healer and His middle Name is Justice.
But, if men would rather have His Peace, Joy and Holy Ghost rather than justice, then they must do what He has commanded them in His Word and walk by His Inner Voice. Then they will avoid the rigors of God’s Justice, because He will set them free from their ways and teach them His ways. His word is unchanging:
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the LORD'S house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." Isaiah 2:2-3
There is no peace like the Lord’s peace. There is no joy like His joy. There is no river quite like His River! It is time for the road to end at God’s Presence. It is time for the church to arise as in one accord and sing His praises! It is time for the wounds to be healed and the people to be set free. It is time to open wide the door and let the Son come in! It is time!
Perfect is not what men have to be to please the Lord but simply totally surrendered. Many have incorrect doctrines and half understandings about the Lord yet they are loved by Him and are useable in His service. For the Lord is always with and never against His true children. Their enemy is the devil and his legions but they are defeatable for their Commander-in-Chief is with them and the battle is the Lords!
But the river is flowing deep within the hearts of certain men. It is flowing and bringing victory with it. It is running freeing in some and not so freely in others. It is running and bringing healing and blessings with it. The river is moving in the lives of men and bringing the changes they desire.
It is flowing and miracles are part of this great outpouring of the river. It is growing this river in their lives and it is coming right from their very bellies. It is changing them forever like the cucumber becomes a pickle when cured in brine. This river is salt water. It cures all who enters it and they are never the same again because of the chemical action it has on them.
Now, they have become cleansed in the brine. They are healed by the salt in their wounds. They are touched by the compassion of the person of the river. They are never the same again. Never the same again. Never the same again. They are moved to do what the river tells them do. They can never be what they once were. They are changed forever by the might and power of the river.
Just being next to the river brings shivers down their spins but even more they are moved to walk in it and then to flow in it and finally to become apart of it and imbibe it so they are intoxicated by it’s very presence. They can’t help themselves they are apart of the mighty river now. They can never be the same again. They can never be the same again. They can never be the same again. They are a part of the river.
The weapons of our warfare are many and varied but the greatest weapon is the river of life. It brings true deliverance, miracles and healings. It brings balance and perspective and wisdom. It brings shrewdness, discretion and discernment. It brings all subtleties into play and teaches the student how to use the delicate tools with grace and deep wisdom.
Then the marching orders are given and the battle carries on. It rages from one end of the earth to the other. It never stops, not even for a moment. It never stops even though many think it non-existent. It is always raging on.
But, God has His brave warriors ready for battle and His wounded are brought back behind the lines and cared for but just one touch of the river and the wounded are ready for battle again. It just takes a touch but better an entire ocean.
Then those who have learned to take the river with them teach others to take it with them as well. They learn, grow and mature and because mighty rivers themselves until all around them flow in the river and are sustained for the many battles to come.
