ALWAYS

The Spirit of Faith

The Mighty One, God the LORD,  Has spoken and called the earth  From the rising of the sun to its going down.  Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,  God will shine forth.  Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent;  A fire shall devour before Him,  And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.  He shall call to the heavens from above,  And to the earth, that He may judge His people: "Gather My saints together to Me,  Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."  Let the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is Judge. Selah Psalm 50:1-6

But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' " Matthew 4:4

One of the gifts of the Spirit that operates supernaturally in the lives of God’s people is the Spirit of faith. God supernaturally by His Spirit revels an attribute of Himself,  such that He is the Mighty One, God the Lord, the Judge of All the earth. This puts a confidence in God’s true ones that everything will be alright because God is the mighty One who will shine forth and come to defend them.

Praying in the Spirit often activates the spirit of faith in the live of a believer and brings a word from the mouth of God.  Something which happened in life of Apostle Paul who prayed in tongues more than all. The bible records:

Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them,  saying, "Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives."

Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul. And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to set sail from there also, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete opening toward the southwest and northwest, and winter there.   When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their desire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete. Acts 27:9-13

Paul in his spirit perceived that their voyage would end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and shop but also their lives. But the centurion had other more valid reasons to continue with the journey than to take heed to the words of Paul. The bible records:

But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon.  So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let her drive.  And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda, we secured the skiff with difficulty.  When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands, they struck sail and so were driven.  And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship.   On the third day we threw the ship's tackle overboard with our own hands.

Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we would be saved was finally given up.  But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, "Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. "And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. "For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,  "saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.'

"Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.  "However, we must run aground on a certain island." Acts 27:9-26

Sure enough the ship ran into an unexpected storm and they were in trouble. But an angel of God gave Paul the word from the mouth of God that  there would  be no loss of life among them  but only of the ship.  Paul believed God and that it would be just as it was told him and made his confession of faith. Sure enough He was not disappointed. The ship  sank but they all made it safely to a certain island.

Now Apostle Paul,  himself, talked about  that since the excellence of the power is of God  we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak.”  The bible records:

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed-  always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,  knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,  while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2  Corinthians 4:7-18

God puts His true ones in some very difficult and perplexing situations and circumstances that look like they are going to be destroyed or delivered to death. But the same Holy Spirit who raised up the Lord Jesus from the dead will deliver them from their light affliction so that they might continue serving the Lord.

For there is nothing beyond the Holy Spirit’s power to change things and circumstance for His true ones, even raising people from the dead.  Nothing is impossible or too difficult for the Holy Spirit to do on behalf of God’s true ones  in their hour of need.  No mountain is too large  the Holy Spirit cannot move. No river is too wide that the Holy Spirit cannot part.  No problem is too big that the Holy Spirit cannot solve. No enemy is too numerous that the Holy Spirit cannot destroy.  For the bible records of what happened when the Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson:

Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines rule over us? What is this you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so I have done to them."

But they said to him, "We have come down to arrest you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines."

Then Samson said to them, "Swear to me that you will not kill me yourselves."  So they spoke to him, saying, "No, but we will tie you securely and deliver you into their hand; but we will surely not kill you." And they bound him with two new ropes and brought him up from the rock.

When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands.  He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and killed a thousand men with it.

Then Samson said:   "With the jawbone of a donkey,  Heaps upon heaps,  With the jawbone of a donkey  I have slain a thousand men!" And so it was, when he had finished speaking, that he threw the jawbone from his hand, and called that place Ramath Lehi.  Judges 15:11-17
