IT'S UP TO YOU
'...He will reward each person according to what he has done.' Matthew 16:27 NIV
The Bible says, 'For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels and then He will reward each person according to what he has done.' Let's be clear: how you live now will determine what happens to you after you die. The choices you make each day don't come to nothing when you pass away. They matter and they'll continue to matter throughout eternity. Your eternal destination is determined by what you believe, but your eternal reward is the result of how you behave. If you believe that and live accordingly, it will change how you think about life, how you think about God, indeed what you do one minute from now. God wants you to know that the positive consequences of your actions today can change your eternal prospects in astounding and wonderful ways and He doesn't want you to waste another minute. You don't have to worry what awaits you on the other side of your last heartbeat. Others don't decide that - you do! When the truth of this hits you, you'll say, 'I can't believe I've prepared for my children's future and my own retirement, but not given a thought to my real future!' One man put it like this: 'I've always thought about finishing well. Now it turns out that death is just the starting gate.' The truth is that you can't do anything about your past, but starting right now you can change your future - one choice, one day, one act at a time. It's up to you.
The word "saved" means much more than just forgiveness of sins. It includes healing, prosperity, & deliverance in every area of our lives.
God sent the Holy Spirit to help lead, to direct you into the good life which is found in Jesus.
A promise from God just for you, “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall” (Malachi 4:2 NIV).
SAVED BY GRACE :
Luke 10:28-29 - "And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?"
Just as with this lawyer, pride causes many people to resist the truth of justification by faith in the grace of God. This lawyer loved himself and the public recognition his "holy acts" gave him. He was not willing to love God first and his fellow man ahead of himself. His was not a sincere question but rather an evasive question to shun responsibility. This man was seeking to be justified in the sight of God through his actions. He knew he had not loved everyone as he loved himself, so he is tried to interpret the scripture (Lev. 19:18) in a way that would conform to his actions. He wanted to define "neighbor" as just his close friends whom he had treated well.
Self-justification always produces excuses, while repentance and faith toward God produces obedience.
The basis of our salvation is grace - that is, God's undeserved, unmerited favor toward us as expressed in providing redemption through Christ Jesus.
The means of God saving us is through faith. Through faith we accept God's free gift of salvation, which was provided by grace. So we are saved "by grace ... through faith. "Notice that we are not saved by grace alone. We are saved by grace through faith. Faith grants us admission to God's grace. Without faith, God's grace is wasted, and without grace, faith is powerless. Faith in God's grace has to be released to receive what God has provided through Christ.
Just as sodium and chloride are poisonous by themselves, so grace or faith used independently of each other are deadly. But when you mix sodium and chloride together in the proper way, you get salt, which you must have to live. Likewise, putting faith in what God has already provided by grace is the key to victorious Christian living.
THE JAWS OF DEATH
They departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere. —Luke 9:6
Lauren Kornacki is glad she took that summer CPR class, but she probably never thought she would have to use it so soon and on someone she loves. Her father was repairing his car when the jack slipped and the car fell on him. Lauren, a 22-year-old, reportedly heroically lifted the 3,300-pound car enough to pull him from underneath! Then she kept him alive with CPR until the paramedics arrived.
Far greater than Lauren’s rescue of her father from the jaws of death is Jesus’ rescue of us from the clutches of sin by His death and resurrection. When Jesus sent the 12 disciples to carry out His work, He gave them the assignment to preach the good news of God’s desire to rescue people (Luke 9:1-6). They would not carry this out in their own strength, but Jesus would lift the heavy burden of people’s sin as they taught about Him. Their preaching and healing in Jesus’ power and authority proved that Jesus had actually brought God’s rule to earth.
Many today are trapped under the weight of sin, but our great God can rescue us from underneath those burdens and then send us into the world to tell others that He can set them free.
Thinking It Over :
Do you know someone who is trapped under the burden of sin and needs Jesus’ rescue? In what practical ways can you be an active agent of Jesus’ love?
Those who’ve been rescued from sin are best able to help in the rescue of others.
FREE FROM DEBT!
The borrower is servant to the lender. – Proverbs 22:7
If you're up to your neck in debt today, I have good news for you. God wants to set you free from those debts and He has the power to do it.
I know. He did it for me.
I'll never forget it. I had $22,000 worth of bad debts at the time. I'd committed to God to pay them off and never borrow another dime--but it looked to me like I'd never be able to do it.
We didn't see how, but we believed that "God is able." Day by day we looked to God for our deliverance from debt. Not asking Him every day, but thanking Him because we believed we received when we prayed. Eleven months later, we were out of debt. As we looked back, nothing spectacular had happened, but God worked in our finances continuously. As we were faithful, He was faithful.
God can do the same thing for you if you'll dare to believe His Word. If you'll make a commitment before Him to get out from under those debts and then obey Him every step of the way.
As you look at your situation right now, you may not be able to see how you could ever get out of debt, much less stay that way. I felt that way too, at first. I just didn't see how I'd ever be able to do much of anything without borrowing money.
But He showed me how--and He'll do the same thing for you.
There's no debt too big and no business too complicated for Him to handle. If you'll trust Him to manage yours, He will bring you out on top...and you'll never have to be a slave to debt again.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY :
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” (Psalm 143:8)
Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You. I honor You. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. I sing You hymns of praise with my lips of pureness on this new day. I humbly pray for spiritual wisdom and insight bestow upon me from the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in Your law. Let the true light of God shine on me and show me the righteous path that leads me to reach the great reward in heaven.
Gratefully, in Jesus’ holy name. Amen !!!
