WORDS MATTER :

The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. - Isaiah 50:4, NIV

Your words are important. They matter. Even more so, God’s Word matters. When your words become His Words, that’s when you’ll see an explosion of His goodness, favor and abundance in your everyday life! Not only that, there are people God has placed in your life who are waiting for you to speak God’s Word over them. It doesn’t help them if you just feel for them or think about them. God’s called us to speak His Word! Your spouse needs to hear you say that God’s hand is on them, His purposes are great and His favor is opening new doors and opportunities. Your children need to hear the promises of God from your mouth. Your friends and co-workers need to hear that God has great things in store for them.

My father used to say, “Your miracle is in your mouth.” Well, someone else’s miracle might be in your mouth, too! They may need to have your words of faith deposited in them in order to take that next step of victory. Don’t hold back! Keep speaking, keep declaring, keep praying because your words matter! Make your words line up with His Word and see His blessing over every area of your life!

 ROUND-THE-CLOCK PROTECTION :

PSALM 91:5–6 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

During World War II, German planes bombed London. Houses were leveled. But there was one that remained standing amidst the rubble. Its owner said that when she read Psalm 121:4, which says, “Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep,” she told the Lord, “Lord, since You don’t sleep, then there is no point in both of us keeping awake. I will sleep while You keep watch.” And she did, while the Lord protected her and her house.

In 2005, terrorists attacked London’s public transport system. That day, a Singaporean girl found herself unexpectedly late for work and could not get to the train station in time to board her usual train. When she finally neared the station, she realized that it had been bombed just a few minutes earlier. Her mother, who worships in our church, believes that God protected her daughter that day.

God wants you to know that you have round-the-clock protection—“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”

He protects you from “the terror by night”, which could refer to evils such as rape, kidnap or murder. He promises you protection from “the arrow that flies by day”. This could refer to bullets from a crazy sniper, drive-by shootings or home-made rockets fired into your territory.

God also shields you from “the pestilence that walks in darkness”, referring to viruses which you cannot see. You don’t have to be afraid of deadly viruses lurking somewhere or wonder if some deadly disease is developing in your body.

God also doesn’t want you to be afraid of “the destruction that lays waste at noonday”, such as a tsunami hitting the beach resort you are at, or a bomb going off in the shopping mall you are in.

You need not be afraid because God, who neither slumbers nor sleeps, is watching over you 24 hours a day!

BE FILLED :

Luke 11:13 - "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

The Holy Spirit is a gift (Acts 2:38). You cannot be good enough to earn the gift of the Holy Spirit, but you do have to ask. This is speaking of the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is subsequent to the born-again experience.

The Holy Spirit resides in our spirits, and once He comes, He doesn't leave (John 14:16). There is an initial filling when the Holy Ghost first comes. However, His control and influence over our souls and body does fluctuate proportionally to how well we have our minds renewed to His will (Rom. 12:2).

In that sense, we can be more full of the Holy Ghost than at other times, although in our spirits the presence and power of the Holy Spirit does not come and go. Therefore, even after we receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, there will be times when our souls and bodies stray from the leadership of the Holy Spirit and we need, once again, to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

In Ephesians 5:18 believers are commanded to "be not drunk with wine...but be filled with the Spirit." Being filled with the Holy Spirit is in the present tense, making it a continual command for the believer. In the book of Acts, the same people who were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost were filled again. Most people don't get drunk on just one drink.

Likewise, being filled with the Holy Spirit is not just a one-time experience. There is an initial filling of the Holy Spirit, but many subsequent fillings. Just as drunkenness can change a person's personality and make him or her act totally different, so being filled with the Holy Spirit can make us act just like Jesus. Be filled with the Spirit today.

THE POWER OF A NAME
The name of the LORD is a strong tower. —Proverbs 18:10

Nicknames are often descriptive of some noticeable aspect of a person’s character or physical attributes. Growing up, my elementary school friends brutally called me “liver lips” since at that stage of development my lips seemed disproportionately large. Needless to say, I have always been glad that the name didn’t stick.

Unlike my nickname, I love the names of God that describe His magnificent characteristics. God is so wonderfully multifaceted that He has many names that communicate His capabilities and character. To name just a few, He is:

Elohim, the God above all gods
Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides
El-Shaddai, the almighty God
Jehovah Rapha, our healer God
Jehovah Shalom, our God of peace
Jehovah Shamma, our God who is present
Jehovah Yahweh, our loving, covenant-keeping God

It’s no wonder the writer of Proverbs encourages us to remember that “the name of the LORD is a strong tower,” that in times of need God-fearing people run to it and “are safe” (Prov. 18:10). When unwelcome circumstances threaten you and you feel vulnerable, reflect on one of God’s names. Be assured—He will be faithful to His name.

Lord, remind us that Your names reveal Your character. Help us to remember them in our times of need and distress. Thank You for the assurance that You are faithful to Your name.

God’s names, which describe His character, can bring comfort when we need it most.

BE SKILLFUL :
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. – Psalm 34:10

Did you know that, according to the Word of God, there is no lack in the Body of Christ? Everything we could ever need, every problem we could ever face has been covered by the blood of Jesus. His exceeding great and precious promises have supplied it all.

Why then do many of us keep on suffering lack? Because we haven't, as Hebrews 5:13 says, become skillful in the Word of righteousness.

It takes skill to apply the Word of God. Sometimes we just sling the Word around and try to use it any old way. We pray some ignorant prayer and then say, "Oh well, God knows what I mean" and expect it to be answered.

It's funny though. We'd never stand for that kind of carelessness in the natural realm. If our doctor came in and just threw a bottle of pills at us and said, "Here, take that," without even trying to find out what's wrong with us, we'd leave his office and never come back. Yet, we're shocked when that same careless attitude in the spiritual realm keeps our prayers from being effective.

We live in an "instant" society where everything is quick and easy. And too many of us are letting that instant mentality leak over into our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. When someone needs healing, we bust through the hospital door, dab a little oil between their eyes and say, "Glory to God!" and out the door we go. Sometimes it doesn't take any longer than "In the Name of Jesus be healed!" But sometimes there is something else that must be done.

The time has come for us to shake off that "instant" mentality and realize that there are situations where we're going to have to take some time and pray in the Holy Ghost. Times when we're going to have to sit there and listen for God's instructions.

If you've come up short in any area of life--whether it be healing or finances or anything else--determine to develop your Word skills where that area is concerned. Get out your Bible. Read through all the healing scriptures. Read through all the miracle scriptures. Read through all the promises of God. Read through all the blessings of Abraham.

Meditate on them. Ask God to speak to you through them and to enlighten you about the situation you're facing. Don't just sling the Word around. Dig into it. Fellowship with your Father over it. Let Him show you how to apply it skillfully, and eventually, you'll lack no good thing.

Through faith & patience we will see His promises. Patience means we don't take matters into our own hands.

FAITH OR LOGIC

The Word reveals that the natural man's walk in life is ordered by his senses. Romans 8:7 says that the mind of the flesh is enmity against (or hostile towards) God. This way of thinking draws information and forms conclusions from the information we acquire only through our senses.

Mankind was designed to live in a world where nothing is impossible. But without God's ability flowing in our lives, we have learned to see anything above man's ability as impossible. If mankind cannot come up with a solution or a cure in his own intelligence, we say that it's impossible!

Luke 18:27 says, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God!" God wants us to walk with Him, in the spirit realm, in the realm of faith. This is the realm where omnipotent power speaks words into being and substance. It is the realm of God who calls the things that are not as though they were. (Rom. 4:17.) Adam was an under-ruler for the One who had framed the worlds out of the things which are not, by faith in His own Word. (Heb. 11:3.)

Adam was the father of all men, and his sin caused a state of separation from God for the entire human race. Everybody who is not born again is under the curse of being separated from God. That's why Jesus said that to enter the kingdom of God we must first be born again. (John 3:3.) We have to learn once again to partake of God's nature. We have to live as God originally designed for us to live. We must live by faith!

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." As Christians we must learn to live by the revelation of God in His Word and by His Holy Spirit. That's called walking by faith and not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7.) When we walk by faith, all things are possible.

In Mark 9:23, Jesus said, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." So we have a choice to make. Do we live in this world with our sense knowledge and be restricted by what we see, or do we live in the realm of revelation knowledge by faith with God where all things are possible? The choice is ours.

Hope Ignites Your Faith

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Cor. 13:13).

Faith is extremely important in the life of a Christian. Without faith it is impossible to please God. (Heb. 11:6.) Without faith we cannot attain eternal life. (Eph. 2:8.) Without faith we are still in sin. (Rom. 14:23.) And according to Jesus, when He returns, He will be looking for faith. (Luke 18:8.)

So we can see that faith is critical in the life of a Christian. In fact, a person cannot even be a Christian without faith.

And speaking of faith and hope, did you know that God can:

1) Make the latter years better than the earlier years

2) Bless you greatly in your latter years as there is no retirement with God and He wants for you to occupy till He comes

3) Is able to do far more with your life and all that you put your hands to than you had realized.

4) Can heal your body and your land and deliver you out of all your problems and negative circumstances just like He did for Joseoh and Job

5) Can bless you and all that you put your hand to just like He did for Abraham and others!

6) Can fill you and keep you filled with the Holy Spirit, power and the gifts of the Spirit 

JESUS MEETS ALL OUR NEEDS

Matthew 14:16, "But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat."

The disciples were using natural reasoning and recognized that they didn't have the ability to minister to the multitude's need for food. Jesus did have the ability and the willingness to minister to their needs, so the multitude did not need to depart. All of their needs could be met through Jesus.

The same thing is true today. Some disciples today are sending the multitudes to the world to meet their physical needs (finances, health, counseling, etc.) and proclaiming that God only meets spiritual needs. But, "they need not depart." The Lord is willing and able to heal our bodies, prosper us financially, or counsel us from His Word in any area of our life where we might have need.

Before we can be a blessing, we have to be blessed (Gen. 12:2). One of the purposes of God's prosperity in our lives is so that we can be a blessing to others. The Scriptures instruct us to walk in God's love towards all men, believers and non-believers alike. Jesus told us to love our enemies (Mt. 5:44). In Galatians 6:10 Paul places a priority on helping fellow Christians. This does not diminish our responsibility to show God's love to non-believers. Instead, Paul is simply saying "charity must start at home." It would be hypocritical to step over hurting brothers and sisters in the Lord to find unbelievers to minister to.

God didn't just give us something that He had; He gave Himself. And what was God's motive for giving? It wasn't because of His need, but ours. He was motivated out of love for us (Jn. 3:16). In the same way, we should be encouraged to give unselfishly of ourselves. Pray for Divine appointments, to be used of God to touch someone's life today.
