FREED FROM THE LAW :
Luke 16:16 "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it."
The Bible teaches that there are different dispensations or divinely ordered ways of God dealing with mankind throughout the ages. A dispensation is simply a period of time in which God deals with mankind in a certain way.
The Old Testament law was only a temporary dispensation and ruled from the giving of the law (Ex. 20) until the ministry of John the Baptist. When Christ came, He put an end to the law for righteousness (Rom. 10:4). Anyone who advocates the keeping of the law for the purpose of right standing with God is going back to an Old Testament system of law that has been abolished and is making the work of Christ void in his life.
The New Testament believer is under the dispensation of God's grace. We are not under the law. That doesn't mean the law has passed away. It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the law to fail. The law hasn't failed. It has been fulfilled (Mt. 5:17). Christ fulfilled every jot and tittle of the law for us and imputes to us that righteousness is not based on our performance but on our faith in Him. The law was never given for the purpose of justification. It was totally powerless to save. It only showed us our need and pointed us to a Savior.
The law was not made for a righteous man and it still serves a purpose for those who are not born again. For those who do not accept Jesus as their Savior, the wrath of God, which the law produces, abides on them. In this present age, Jesus has come not to condemn men but to bring them grace and truth. Those who do not believe on the Son are presently under the wrath of the Old Testament law, and, unless they repent, will suffer the wrath of God eternally. Thank God for His grace today.
THE RIGHT RIGHTEOUSNESS :
Luke 16:1 "And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods."
The unjust steward was covetous. He had not been faithful to his master or to his master's debtors. He had wasted his master's goods on himself. When found out, his self-serving nature considered the options, and decided there had to be a change. He decided to use his lord's money to make friends so that when he was fired he would have someone to help him.
His master was apparently wealthy enough that he didn't take offense at the steward's discounting of the debts owed to him, but rather he commended the steward. He didn't commend his dishonest ways, but he was commending the fact that he had finally used his lord's money to plan for the future instead of wasting it on himself. Although the steward was motivated by what he would ultimately gain, there was prudence in his actions. This was lacking before.
In this sense, the children of this world (lost men) are wiser than the children of light (born again men) because they plan for the temporal future.
Jesus is telling us to use money (the unrighteous mammon) to make to ourselves friends that would receive us into "everlasting" habitations. The use of the word "everlasting" denotes that Jesus is now talking about our eternal future. The people who have been saved and blessed by our investments in the kingdom of God will literally receive us into our everlasting home when we pass on to be with the Lord.
Our material possessions have been given to us by God so that we are actually stewards of His resources. The Lord gave us this wealth to establish His covenant on this earth - not so that we could consume it upon our own lusts. You have been blessed to be a blessing!
ENLARGE YOUR VISION :
Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back... - Isaiah 54:2, NIV
God has blessings untold prepared for your future! He has favor in your future like you’ve never imagined. He wants to take you places you’ve never even dreamed of. But in order for us to partake of all these blessings, we have to increase our capacity to receive.
Think about this: If you have a one-gallon bucket, and someone has fifty gallons to give you, the problem is not with the supply. The problem is that you don’t have the capacity to receive the fifty gallons. But, if you get rid of that small container and get something larger, then you will be able to receive more. It’s the same way with God. If we think we’ve reached our limit, the problem isn’t that God doesn’t have the resources or the ability. The problem is that our container is too small. We have to enlarge our vision and make room for the new things God has for us. Our attitude should be, “Yes, the economy is down, but I know God is still on the throne. I know that wherever I go, His goodness and mercy follow me.” When you enlarge your vision, you are increasing your capacity to receive so that you can take hold of the blessings He has in store for you!
GOD’S IDEA OF “BIG” :
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. - Psalm 126:3, NIV
God did not create us to reach one level and stop. When we think, “Oh God, thank You, I’ve accomplished my dreams,” God says, “I appreciate your thanks, but I’m not finished with you. It’s too small a thing for you to stay there. I’ve got something bigger.” In our minds, it could be huge. Just got the promotion. Just moved into the Compaq Center. Just met the person of my dreams. God did more than I could ask or think. The whole time, God’s in the heavens saying, “You haven’t seen anything yet. I’m glad you’re happy, but that’s a small thing.”
God’s idea of big is much different than our idea of big. In scripture, David not only ended up serving the king, he became the king. He thought, “God, wow, You’ve amazed me with Your goodness.” God said, “Still, it’s too small a thing, David. I’m going to put one of your descendants on the throne for the next 1,000 generations.
Remember, as long as you have breath, God isn’t finished with you yet. He has so much more in store for your future. Be open to His leading because God’s idea of big is so much greater than anything you could imagine!
GRACELAND
The grace of God . . . abounded to many. —Romans 5:15
The Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the most visited homes in the US. It was built in the 1930s and named after the original owner’s great aunt, Grace. It later became famous as the home of Elvis Presley.
I love the name Graceland because it describes the amazing territory into which God placed me when He forgave me of my sin and made me His own. He took me out of the darkness and brought me into His own “graceland.”
The apostle Paul says that “the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many” (Rom. 5:15). I’ll be forever thankful that the “many” includes me and that God’s love has transferred me into the territory of His marvelous, infinite, matchless grace!
Think of the blessing of being in God’s graceland. It is a realm where He has given us entrance into His presence and where that same grace continues to overflow into our lives on a daily basis. Paul tells us that even in times of despair God showers us with sufficient grace to see us through (see 2 Cor. 12:9).
No matter what life may bring, nothing can remove us from the realm of God’s grace.
Lord, for the blessings of Your grace I am forever grateful! Teach me to accept Your grace and to live in its power. Help me to share Your story with others.
Remember where you live and rejoice in His grace.
COURAGE COMES FROM FAITH :
Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. – Joshua 1:9
Courage comes from trusting God. It can't be mentally drummed up. It comes from believing what God says regardless of what the circumstances look like. Courage comes from faith!
Where does discouragement come from? From fear and unbelief. It comes when you listen to the devil's lies about what God is not going to do for you.
As the people of God, you and I must shake off discouragement and rise up with courage! We must quit looking at our own abilities and failures and limitations and start looking to God. We must rise up in the Name of Jesus and the power of His Spirit and establish the kingdom of heaven upon earth.
If you've been discouraged lately, stop listening to Satan's lies. Stop receiving evil reports. Whenever someone tells you God is not going to deliver you, just tell them, "He's already delivered me in the Name of Jesus."
Once you begin to realize who you are and what you've been given by the power of God, you'll quit letting the devil run all over you. God didn't suggest that you be strong and courageous. That is His command!
TEMPTATION (1) :
'Jesus was...tempted by the devil.' Matthew 4:1 NIV
The Bible says, 'Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.' Notice who led Jesus there: God! You're in training for your destiny, and a good trainer has one thing in mind - turning flab into muscle. So he takes you into the gym and increases the weights until you break a sweat and start thinking, 'I don't know how much more of this I can take.' But God does. It's only when you look back that you realise you're handling situations today you couldn't have handled a year ago. Sometimes old temptations will return with a vengeance. They'll hound you until you think you need some new, novel, quick-fix strategy. Like the Israelites at the Red Sea, just when they thought they were finally free from a life of slavery, here comes Pharaoh. At that point they cried out to God in fear, saying, 'It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians...' (Exodus14:12 NIV) 'Then the Lord said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water"...' (Exodus 14:15-16) God used Moses' rod - again! Victory over the Egyptians didn't come from discovering something new; it came from using what God had already given them. You have the power inside you today to overcome the temptation you're facing right now. You just need to tap into it. Paul said, 'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.' (Ephesians 3:20NKJV)
PRAYER FOR THE DAY :
“By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me – a prayer to the God of my life.” (Psalm, 42”8}
Dear Lord God, I praise You. I honor You. Let the rain of this morning fall upon me with abundances from the heavenly barn. Fill my cup with overflow blessings and nourish my life profusely. I give thanks to God for another blessed day for the love of God keeps me warm at heart in spite of the cold weather. The Lord; my God is with me and His right hand sustains me in all my ways and guides me to walk on the righteous path that leads me to reach the great reward in heaven ultimately. Great is Your faithfulness O God!
