THE LAW

The Law Of Consequences

Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.  Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,  who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1:22-25

The word of God teaches that there are real consequences in the current time of life depending on whether we are righteous, humble and wise or wicked, proud and foolish. As a result God gives people who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves. God’s word warns us that He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29:1). Yes, God’s word is unchanging:

Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD,  But a just weight is His delight. When pride comes, then comes shame;  But with the humble is wisdom.  The integrity of the upright will guide them,  But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. 11:4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,  But righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright,  But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright will deliver them,  But the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.  Proverbs 11:1-6

Then I said to you, 'Do not be terrified, or afraid of them.  'The LORD your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,  'and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.'

"Yet, for all that, you did not believe the LORD your God, "who went in the way before you to search out a place for you to pitch your tents, to show you the way you should go, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day. Deuteronomy 1:29-33

All of God’s word and promises are true including each verse and each line.  But the choice belongs to each person as to whether he will believe and obey God or he will not! The children of Israel, who were miraculously delivered by God from their Egyptian oppressors and saw God’s great judgment, signs and wonders upon them including the miraculous parting of the Red Sea and the destruction and drowning of their enemies in it, chose not to believe that God would fight for them in the Promised Land according to all that He did for them in Egypt before their eyes.  As a result they never went into the promised land but died in the wilderness of their own choosing! These kinds of things do happen to men even in the current time of life. They make wrong choices and choose to believe false men instead of God and suffer the consequences of their foolishness. For God’s word is unchanging:

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

"Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'  "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: "and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." Matthew 7:14-27

Sincerity and presumption are not a guarantee of anything including salvation. You can be very sincere and presumptive and drink a bottle labeled poison and die from it? So similarly false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves, deceive many of God’s people and they miss God’s best for their lives. For God’s word is unchanging:

"Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.  "For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.  "Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.  "Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

"So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.  "I have coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. "Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.  "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " Matthew 20:28-35

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.  As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:  Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Timothy 4:1-4

Being born again and filled with the fullness of God’s spirit, speaking in tongues, prophesying, laying hands on the sick so that they will recover, and performing miracles is part of the Gospel that Paul preached. To deny or reject these things to preach another gospel for God’s word is unchanging:

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led.  Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.  And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all.  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:  for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit,  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,  to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.  But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:28

To be ignorant of Spiritual gifts and not to pursue them is against the word of God and the teaching of Apostle Paul and is definitely the preaching of another gospel!

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.  But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.  He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.  I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. 1 Corinthians 14:1-5

If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.  But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.  Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.  Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:37-40
