I WILL

 Health And Healing

'Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.  'And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first.  'I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me. 'Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.'   "Thus says the LORD: 'Again there shall be heard in this place-of which you say, "It is desolate, without man and without beast"-in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,  'the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say:  "Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good, For His mercy endures forever"-and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,' says the LORD.   "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be a dwelling place of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.  'In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks shall again pass under the hands of him who counts them,' says the LORD. Jeremiah 33:6-13

Where the was dearth and desolation in the land, health, healing, abundance of peace and truth, joy,  gladness, goodness, and prosperity were words that God Himself had used and had promised to give to His people who were captives in a strange land! And of course, God keeps His promises all of them. And these are words He has and promised for His people even in this day and age that we live in no matter what is going around them. And God has the power to make it so for the LORD is good, for His mercy endures forever to those who will bring the sacrifice of praise to Him! The bible tells us great is our Lord, and mighty in power:

Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.  The LORD builds up Jerusalem;  He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.  He heals the brokenhearted  And binds up their wounds.  He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.  Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.  The LORD lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. Psalm 147:1-6

However the other side of the coin that the dearth and desolation of God’s people Israel  was brought upon by themselves! God Himself stated in Jeremiah 2:13 "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns-broken cisterns that can hold no water, 3:1 But you have played the harlot with many lovers; Yet return to Me," says the LORD and  4:22 "For My people are foolish, They have not known Me. They are silly children, And they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, But to do good they have no knowledge."

God’s people who once were loyal to the Lord and a holy people turned their back on Him. They had perverted their way; they had forgotten the LORD their God. They had sinned against the LORD their God,  and had not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God. They didn't put away their abominations out of God's sight and return to Him! They became harlots and adulterers! As a result  destruction upon destruction was cried, the whole land was  plundered and those who were not destroyed went into Babylonian captivity for seventy years. God’s word is unchanging:

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

…They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 2:15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 2 Peter 2:14

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Hebrews 13:4

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.  Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:1-4

Even today most of God’s people don’t understand that “whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” and God calls them adulterers and adulteresses? Because they live and do exactly as the world does, and they are not different! They divorce, lie, steal, cheat, do all kinds of evil and wicked things. They run after money and have a heart trained in covetous practices. They are accursed children, who have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness. And God word to idolaters and adulterers has not changed:

"Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: 'Return, backsliding Israel,' says the LORD; 'I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,' says the LORD; 'I will not remain angry forever. Only acknowledge your iniquity,  That you have transgressed against the LORD your God, And have scattered your charms To alien deities under every green tree,  And you have not obeyed My voice,' says the LORD. Return, O backsliding children," says the LORD; "for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.  "And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3:12

The book of Hosea is a powerful image of how God loves His bride even though she has become an adulteress. God calls Hosea, a prophet, to take a wife who is and will be an adulteress. A cycle ensues: faithfulness, adultery, repentance and redemption, faithfulness, adultery, etc. But God isn't just telling the story of one husband and wife. He's using their story to point his people to the fact that we do the exact same thing to Him. God has given us salvation, hope, and freedom. And yet we often turn away from him and turn to other gods. Money, career, vanity, success, people's perceptions and acceptance of us. God reminds us that we have become idolaters and adulterers.

God had told Hosea to marry a bad woman, Gomer, she was a prostitute (Hosea 1:2).  I kind of think Hosea had already had his eyes on this Jezebel, but Hosea knew Gomer was not the proper kind of woman to marry.  God told Hosea to go ahead and marry Gomer.  Oh how happy Hosea must have been on their wedding day.  He said "Hot dog!  I've got me a beautiful wife."  She was probably beautiful on the outward appearance like Britney Spears or Christian Aguilera.  I'm sure she was a hot-dancer and probably wore a few tattoos.  Her captivating eyes probably cut right through Hosea with striking beauty.  I'm sure she was gorgeous.  Little did Hosea realize that his new love would break his heart.  Gomer cheated on Hosea left and right, she was a two-time loser.

Poor Hosea, his heart was broken.  Gomer slept with one man after another and eventually didn't bother to come home anymore.  To make a long story short...at the end of Hosea we find Gomer being sold as a slave.  Isn't that where sin always takes people?  Sin will enslave you (John 8:34).  Hosea hadn't seen Gomer for years and had done his best to raise the kids on his own.  Gomer had abandoned her family in pursuit of pleasure and wickedness...but only for a season.  Hosea had every right to divorce Gomer and never speak to her again.

Time after time, Hosea pleads with his wife to just come home, but she will not return.  Hosea tells her he loves her and wants to forget the past.  Gomer laughs at Hosea and goes her own way again.  She is having a good time and could care less about Hosea or her children.  There are MANY women in the world today just like Gomer, women like Jennifer Lopez, who one day just walked out the door on her husband...never to return.  Hosea was a tenderhearted man married to a coldhearted woman.

Hosea just so happened to be walking by the market one day where the slaves are sold.  As Hosea is walking by, he looks up and notices an old battered woman with a familiar face.  It is his wife, Gomer.  Hosea cries when he sees Gomer and cannot believe how she has changed.  Her beauty is faded and her shapely body withered.  She is so ashamed of what she has done...wasted years living in sin...why would Hosea want her back when no one else does?   Hosea's heart breaks and he buys Gomer back.  Hosea pays cash to buy his wayward wife back from off the slave market.

What a great picture of God's unfeigned love, not the type of synthetic love that the world offers.  Hosea NEVER gave up on his wife and God has not given up on His people.

MOST WILLING

THE LORD IS ABLE AND MOST WILLING

Matthew 8:3 - Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, I am willing; be cleansed. Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

When you see someone receiving a miraculous healing or financial breakthrough, do you ask, What about me, Lord? I believe that the leper who came to Jesus must have asked the same question.

He must have heard or seen from a distance, since he was not permitted to be in public places by the law, how Jesus had healed the sick. So he had no doubt that Jesus could heal him, but he was not sure if Jesus would. He said to Jesus, Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean. (Matthew 8:2) He was confident of the power of God, but not the love of God for him.

Like the leper, maybe you dont have a problem believing that God can give you your miracle, since He is Almighty God. But you are wondering if He will do it for you. My friend, let Jesus actions and answer to the leper settle this question once and for all. He stretched forth His hand, touched the leper and said, I am willing; be cleansed. And immediately, the leper was healed.

I want you to notice that Jesus touched the leper. He could have healed him from a distance with just a spoken word. He had healed others this way as in the case of the centurions servant and the Syro-Phoenician womans daughter. So why did He touch the leper?

Jesus knew that for so many years, the leper had been cut off from his family and society, so he must have been feeling dehumanized. I believe that Jesus touched him to make him feel human again, to make him feel loved and accepted again. His touch was His love language to the leper.

Can you see Gods heart of love here? Can you see how much He loved the leper? That is how much He loves you! The day that you come to know Gods heart of love and believe that He wants you blessed more than you want to be blessed is the day that you receive your miracle!

Beloved, catch a glimpse of Gods heart of love, and you will believe that He is not only able, but also willing to make you whole!

GOD'S MERCY IS A GIFT

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. - Matthew 23:23

One of the ways that God's goodness is revealed is by His mercy. We may describe mercy as the readiness of God to relieve the misery of fallen creatures. Many times, mercy is called compassion or lovingkindness. It is expressed toward the sinner because of the misery that sin has brought upon him.

God's mercy to the believer is revealed by God taking away the misery of sin's consequences through the New Covenant of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Mercy is not something merited or earned, but a gift, as the apostle Paul states, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to HIS MERCY He saved us" (Ti. 3:5).

Paul speaks of the heavenly Father as "The Father of mercies." The word father is used many times in scripture as an originator or as a source of something. For example, the devil is called the father of lies (Jn. 8:44), i.e. he is the author and originator of lying. Likewise, our heavenly Father is the author, originator, and source of all mercy. Each time that mankind cried out in faith, God's mercy reached out and met their need.

God is said to be rich in mercy because of His great love wherewith he loved us (Eph. 2:4), and to have a throne called grace whereby we may come and obtain mercy. God wasn't motivated to save us through pity or a sense of obligation as our Creator. He was motivated solely by love. God loves us.

 MEDITATE ON HIS LOVE

And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” - Matthew 8:20

I find what Jesus said in Matthew 8:20 so beautiful. Let me tell you why. In the original Greek text, the word “lay” is a very unique Greek word, klino. It is seldom used in the New Testament. The only other place it is used in terms of Jesus resting His head is at the cross. When Jesus hung on the cross and cried, “It is finished,” the Bible says that “He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30, KJV). The word “bowed” here is the same Greek word klino.

My friend, it was only at the cross that the Son of Man finally found a place to rest His head. Jesus found His rest in redeeming you, in saving you. He found His rest in loving you.

So beloved, feed on Jesus’ love for you. Listen to sermons or sing songs about His love for you. You will be surprised at how strong it will make you. You will become more than a conqueror, not through your love for Him, but through Him who loves you (Romans 8:37)!

WALK IN FREEDOM TODAY ...

In the New Testament, there’s a story about a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. The religious leaders of the time had already condemned her in their minds, and the law said that she should be stoned. Out of curiosity, they brought her to Jesus to see what He would do, and Jesus surprised them all with His response to the situation.

Instead of condemning the woman, Jesus showed love and compassion to her. In fact, He turned the whole situation around when He said to the crowd, “Whoever is without sin, throw the first stone.” (See John 8:1–11). Then it says that the woman’s accusers walked away one by one.

Jesus turned to the woman and asked, “Where are your accusers? Does anyone condemn you now?” She answered, “No one, Lord.” Then Jesus said something very profound, something that gives us insight into His heart for us. He said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” God was in essence saying, “I don’t put My stamp of approval on condemnation. That’s not what I’m about. I came to set you free.”

Maybe you’ve encountered people who want to accuse you and “throw rocks” at you, but that’s not God. He’s never going to throw rocks at you or try to push you down. He loves you and wants to empower you to live in freedom, to live a better life. Maybe you’ve made some mistakes, maybe you’ve done some things you’re not proud of, or maybe you’ve been hurt by someone who threw rocks at you. Today is your day to let go of that hurt and open your heart to receive God’s love and forgiveness.

Remember, as long as we live, there will be accusing voices. The faultfinders and rock throwers will always be there. When the negative voices come, we can either believe them and stay stuck in condemnation, or we can choose to believe God and walk in freedom knowing that we’re forgiven, accepted and approved by God. It’s up to us to cast the deciding vote for either freedom or condemnation; faith or fear; love or bitterness.

My prayer for you today is that you will understand your value and truly see what God has given you and what you have to offer others. Life is too short and too precious to waste a single moment in fear and condemnation. Instead, take captive every negative thought and choose to dwell on the truth of God’s Word. Place your hope and confidence in Him so you can live in His everlasting freedom far above and beyond the accusing voices of this world.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1 NIV)

COMPASSION IN ACTION

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. – Matthew 9:36

Compassion. That's the one thing people need more than anything else in this world. They need someone to reach out to them with the compassion of God.

Compassion is a deep yearning that responds to the needs of people. It's much deeper than sympathy. Sympathy can just sit around feeling sorry for people. Compassion has to do something for them.

Compassion is what motivates God, and Jesus' life on earth was a picture of that compassion in action. His whole ministry was driven by it. It was compassion that caused Him to multiply the loaves and fishes, heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead. It was compassion that compelled Him to go to the Cross. And it's that same compassion that He now longs to pour out through you.

That's a staggering thought, isn't it?

It's staggering to realize that we believers are the only body Jesus has on this earth now. His healing must flow through our hands and our faith. His compassion must move us to provide for the hungry. It must compel us to cast out demons and set the captives free.

"But, I don't have that kind of compassion!"

Yes, you do. If you have the Spirit of God dwelling inside you, you do-- because He is that kind of love! You simply need to activate it.

How? Just like Jesus did when He walked the earth. Through prayer and fellowship with the Father. Look through the Gospels and notice how much time Jesus spent alone with the Father. That time activated the compassion of God within Him. It caused Him to feel what God feels about the suffering of mankind. It stirred Him so much that whenever He encountered a need, He met it by the power of God.

Follow His example. Spend time in fellowship with your Father. Meditate on His compassion until it rises up strong on the inside of you. Stir it up until the desire to see others set free becomes paramount in your thinking.

Jesus has sent you to reach out and touch a love-starved world with His compassion.
If you don't do it, who will?

DON'T ACT ON IMPULSE!

'Whoever believes will not be in haste.' Isaiah 28:16 ESV

As twins go, Jacob and Esau were very different. But they quickly learned to negotiate. Have you ever watched children make a deal that favoured one over the other? For example, one offers the other a candy bar in exchange for an expensive video game. Well, that same dynamic was at work between Jacob and Esau. Esau had been out hunting and came home exhausted and hungry. Nothing mattered to him except food—and certainly not something as remote as a future inheritance. In a moment of weakness he said, ‘“I am about to die…what is this birthright to me?”…So…he…sold his birthright to Jacob…[for] bread and stew.’ (Genesis 25:32–34 NKJV) It was a decision Esau would live to regret, and couldn’t undo. Recovering addicts are taught the importance of observing their H.A.L.T. sign. When they’re Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired, they’re in danger. And so are you!

Acting on impulse will cause you to:
(1) buy stuff you don’t need at prices you can’t afford;
(2) react before you get all the facts, resulting in a loss of respect, opportunities and good relationships;
(3) compromise your character for a few moments of sinful pleasure;
(4) quit in the middle of the race, or worse, on the threshold of victory.

The Bible says, ‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’ When you make choices based on short–term gratification rather than life–long convictions and goals, you always lose out in the end. So don’t take the deal; don’t trade your God–given destiny for momentary gratification. Be patient and hold fast. When you do, God will bring your dreams to pass in ways that honour instead of diminishing them.

"The Holy Spirit"

 When the Wind Blows #1

We will begin with Acts 2:1-4, (1) "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." (2) "And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." (3) "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and sat upon each of them." (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

The word wind is translated from both Hebrew and Greek words meaning breath, to breathe, to blow. The Greek word pnyoo-mair is translated from a word here which means a current air, breath, breeze, and is a figure of breath. It's, wind, it's spirit, a vital principle, mental disposition, superhuman, ghost, life, spirit. The Hebrew word is ruwach (roo-akh), translated wind, which means breath, sensible or even violent spirit. Its expressions and functions are air, and anger, and blast, breath, cool, courage, mind. It is not always the wind of God, it can be demonic. Ephesians 4:14, the wind of heresy. Wind, water, and fire are symbols of the Spirit of God, And represent different functions of the Spirit. The blowing of the wind is always the preparation for the flowing of the river; that is, the living water. The Holy Spirit as the river is to come out of us, and the wind of God is always for this purpose.

"He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;...shall receive the blessing from the Lord..." (Psalms 24:4,5) The blessing is the flowing of the river, for all God has is in this river of the Holy Ghost that Jesus said was to flow out of the believer. The Holy Spirit being The Life of God, is God in The Believer. The wind of the Spirit blows away the chaff - like the ancient winnowing of wheat. I was in Southern India back in 1968. In that part of the world they still winnow wheat just like they did in Bible times. There's a stack of wheat on a large canvas. A man with a shovel would throw the wheat into the air, and two men with a big fan were constantly blowing with this fan. As the wheat went up, the lighter chaff was blown away, so that only the heavier wheat fell to the ground. The wind of the Holy Ghost is the fan God uses to blow away the chaff.

First of all, the wind exposes. What does it expose? Our attitude, sins of disposition, things that we are and have excused in our lives which are, by the wind of the Spirit, shown to be idols. As the Word of God is preached under the anointing things that men believe are not wrong will suddenly become wrong as the wind is allowed to blow. In our haste and desire for the blessings, we have ignored the Holy Spirit as the wind of God in His purging and purifying work. In other words, we have preached the wrong side of the message. The result is that we have the tragedy of attempting the work of God with hands that are unclean, and a heart that is impure. We have preached about the blessings that will come when revival comes and the river flows. You don't have to beg for that, it will happen. Instead, we need to preach about repentance, restitution, and prayer, the things that will bring revival.

We have preached the wrong side of the message, and out of this tragedy has come two extremes. First, out of the frustration of not being able to work the work of God has come the imitation spirit that is so prevalent today. We could not make the gospel work, so what do we do? We imitate the things of God, teach people how to talk in tongues, put catchers behind them so that they can lay down when you lay hands on them, and call it falling out under the power of the Holy Spirit. This imitation is come because we've ignored the Holy Ghost in His purging, purifying work. The church is full of flesh, and cannot work the works of God, so she imitates them. The other extreme coming out of this tragedy is discouragement, backslidings. God said you shall have power. The power isn't there, and so there comes discouragement, and backsliding.

The same Holy Ghost who brings God's blessings, also exposes everything that is not God. When Ananias and Sapphira fell dead, the devil did not kill them. The same power that raised Dorcas from the dead killed them. We've got to know that. The Holy Spirit, when preached in His fullness, and the wind is allowed to blow, exposes and purges those things that God will not tolerate. He must be free to purge, for the power needed for service is short-circuited by impurity.

The life of the Spirit will not operate where sin is tolerated. Power is a position. When Samson lost his separation unto God, he lost his anointing. When King Saul rebelled, the Spirit of God departed. David understood this. When Nathan reproved him he cried out in repentance, "Cast me not away from your presence, take not your Holy Spirit from me." (Psalms 51:11) The power of God cannot flow through the vessel that has an impure heart. Therefore, the wind of God has to expose the impurity of the heart. An impure heart contaminates every offering offered to God. Look at God's verdict on the unclean. "If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered, ...No" (Haggai 2:12). "Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touching any of these (things named above), shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, it shall be unclean" (Haggai 2:13). Then the prophet, Haggai said, "So it is with this people, and...this nation, whatever they do, whatever they offer is defiled." So, Israel, God's people, were defiled, and God says everything they touch or offer to me is defiled.

Titus 1:15, "To the pure, all things are pure; but unto them that are defiled...is nothing pure..." To the Levites God said He would "refine them as silver, purge them as gold, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness." (Malachi, Chapter 3) All of this says that the heart must be pure before it can offer to God in righteousness. God first looks at the offerer, before He looks at what is offered. He is more concerned about what is in your heart than what is in your hand. God said, "...be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD" (Isaiah 52:11). For your labor, your service, your ministry, worship and prayer to be offered and accepted by God, they must proceed from a pure heart. Jeremiah said, "...cursed is he that doeth the work of God deceitfully..." (Jeremiah 48:10) "Without holiness no man shall see (see means to know) the Lord." This says, to be of any service to the Lord, you must walk in holiness.

When the wind does not blow, sin is treated softly in the pulpit. When the Holy Spirit doesn't have a free course to blow, to expose, sin is largely ignored. That is what you find across the church today. I have preached, and the whole while I could feel the pastor pulling on my coat tail. He was afraid that I was going to say something that would offend. All along the line you will to run into that, men do not want you to speak out against sin.

The pulpit is commanded by God to, "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, show my people their sins" (Isaiah 58:1). The vessel that does the crying must be broken. We must be broken ourselves. No one has the right to bring a hard word until they themselves have wept over the sin, and interceded for the people. The other side of the extreme is softness. To the world, the ideal preacher today is a mild-mannered man exhorting a mild-mannered people. This is not a new thing. Jeremiah said, "...this is a rebellious people, (said Isaiah), ...children that will not hear the law of God: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits." (Isaiah 30:9,10) In other words, soothe us, speak unto us pleasant words, tell us about our rights and our privileges, make us feel good, but don't talk to us about the demands of righteousness from a Holy God. Sounds familiar doesn't it? Some of you in this class are pastors, and you know that is a prevailing attitude, and it may be that you've been giving place to such attitude. The prevalent attitude of eighty-five percent of church members is that they want to feel good. God is not against your feeling good, but it is more important to Him that you live good.

Why the softness in the pulpit? I realize that in the area that I am about to touch, the wind of God becomes a tornado. Softness in the pulpit, in most cases, stems from the fact that the preacher has not dealt with sin in his own heart. You cannot effectively cry out against secret sin, idolatry, and worldliness in others, if you refuse to deal with it in your own life. You must know that if you allow the Holy Spirit to use you, and the wind is allowed to blow through you, it will purify and sanctify the church. That is the only climate He will work in. Men who have sin in their own lives, who haven't dealt with the idolatry of their own heart, cannot bring a word of correction, or call the church to repentance and righteousness, because they are convicted in their own heart. They are like David, who having committed adultery and murder, could not correct his own sons when they sinned. Unconfessed sin and unrighteousness take away the ability to stand and bring the correction and reproof in calling the church to repentance. Except we allow the wind of the Spirit to blow freely upon our own life we are useless to God.

If we allow the wind to blow, it will expose what it will. Some may leave. It has always been that way. People left Jesus. In the 6th Chapter of John, many left Him and would not follow Him any more. He never reduced His message to fit that crowd. The rich young ruler is a classic example. Jesus, by the wind of the Spirit exposed the covetousness of his heart. He went away sorrowfully,

IN ME

 Christ Lives In Me

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:4-8

God’s solution to lost and hurting humanity was absolutely unique. He not only gave His only begotten Son as an appropriation for our sins on Calvary, where Jesus shed His blood and gave up His life, but through the Holy Spirit He gave us His son to live His live in us. God took the world’s sins and put them on Jesus who was righteous. And then He put Jesus righteousness on us. We became new creations in Christ Jesus without our own merits. Hence Apostle Paul stated:

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God-and righteousness and sanctification and redemption-  that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD." 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. Galatians 6:15

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Christ Jesus became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption! As result we now accept it by faith and trust the Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus Christ and raised Him from the dead to work all things out for us including our sanctification.  We cannot do it on our own because flesh and blood shall not inherit the kingdom of God, the letter of the law kills, but the Spirit of life in Christ gives us life.  So whenever we have a need we confess Jesus Christ is our wisdom, our Redemption, our Salvation, our righteousness, our victory, our very present help in trouble and everything that we need.  We trust in God and rest on Jesus Christ, and what He has done on Calvary for us. It doesn’t depend on us - it depends on Him. We look at His finished work at Calvary where He made the great exchange:

Jesus Christ has substituted all things on the cross for us and exchanged it there for us. Our death, defeat and poverty and curses have been nailed to the Cross. On the Cross Jesus Christ not only won real victory and redemption over sin and death and the world, but also over the wicked arch enemy Satan and all his angels who had made the Cross necessary by what he did to Adam and Eve.

The enemy had deceived and entrapped Adam and Eve to sin against God and live a life that was cursed and full of toil and trouble.  But on the Cross Jesus Christ did the great exchange.  He exchanged His sinlessness for our sins, His righteousness for our unrighteousness, His strength for our weakness, His boundless supply for our needs, His stripes for our healing, His riches for our poverty, His victories for our defeats, His glory for our shame, His triumphs for our disappointments, His Honor for our nothingness, His prosperity for our lacks, His joy for our sadness, and His fullness for our emptiness. But all of this is also something that must be revealed to us by the Holy Spirit before we can understand and partake of it fully. Yet it is all our birthright and the blessing of the fullness of the gospel of Christ.

The message of the cross and the Gospel is not only that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. He was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. He is now is seated at the right hand of the Father with all power given unto Him in heaven and earth waiting for His enemies to be made His footstool.  But the message of the cross and the Gospel is also that as a result of the victories Jesus won on the cross, He has now given and shared all that He has with us (John 16:14) and He is also with and for us continually (Matthew 28:18-20).

God in Christ Jesus has literally become our inheritance and great reward; as well as everything else which we need, including our healer and deliverer. As result of the Cross, God said about Jesus and of us who have become strong and overcomers:

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. Isaiah 53:12

As a result of the cross, in Christ Jesus, we are rich, victorious and have a new life in Christ Jesus, as we walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  The empty Cross now also stands as a reminder and says to the world and to all the demons of Hell “You did your worst, but God gave His best.”  Now things are no longer the same, because Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting for His enemies to be submitted to Him. He has also now given us the power to subdue all His and our enemies through the use of His name and Word and dependence of the Spirit. Hence the Cross is also a real testimony of what God’s power can do no matter what the Hell or injustice that the world or the devil will throw at us.  For Jesus’ resurrection after a cruel and awful death signifies the real possibility of total and complete victory in our lives, hearts and circumstances as well in the current time of life as we trust in God just like Jesus did.

The empty Cross of Christ at Calvary now says to you and I, that for every defeat there is victory in its place, for every failure there is success, for every endeavor there is prosperity, for every weakness there is grace, for every sickness there is healing, for every hatred there is love, for every injustice there is justice and for every poverty there is riches. All of this and much, much more belongs to each child of God because of what Jesus did and won on the Cross. Hence we can by the Holy Spirit understand what the Lord said to Apostle Paul:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

Our strength and victory comes from God Himself and all the victories He had won for us on the Cross of Calvary. Although in the annuals of time and history, our Creator God died on the Cross-on Calvary, but He didn’t stay there. He arose triumphant and victorious over everything, over the worst that the devil or others could throw at or do to Him and to us.   Because of the cross of Christ, God has reconciled all things to Himself whether things on earth or things in heaven for Jesus having wiped out all the enemies of His people and especially the requirements that were against them, He has taken it out of the way having nailed to the cross.

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords with His unlimited and unimaginable power and riches was never poor or debased. But He chose, because of us, to leave behind his infinite power and riches become a man and identify and relate to humanity in all its sufferings and ways. God in Christ Jesus stripped Himself of His royalty and Kingship. He then became an ordinary man and walked with men doing by faith and dependence on the Holy Spirit the impossible such as healing the sick, raising the dead and cast out demons. He did it all to show that we can do it also. Then the innocent Son of man and Son of God went to a Cross-on a hill called Calvary where He bled and died for all of humanity.

But the Cross-was not the end of Jesus Christ or life, it was the beginning of something new, a New Covenant or New Testament. It was the beginning of a new life and a new man and a new Spirit for those who would accept what Jesus had done for them. It was the beginning of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh. As a result God’s word was now true:

“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:  ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,  That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;  Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,  Your young men shall see visions,  Your old men shall dream dreams.  And on My menservants and on My maidservants  I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above  And signs in the earth beneath:  Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.  The sun shall be turned into darkness,  And the moon into blood,  Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.  And it shall come to pass  That whoever calls on the name of the LORD  Shall be saved.’ Joel 2:16-21

Now all flesh can be saved, healed and delivered and walk in the newness of life in the power of the Holy Spirit. All men can prophesy, speak in tongues and be filled with the fullness of God.  The good news of the Cross-is that the different victories that Jesus won there, and the resulting New Covenant with all its rights and privileges, is now ours to be claimed and accepted by faith. They will be true if we will only believe, accept, confess and act on it and then allow the Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead to change us. Jesus won for us, on the Cross, such a victory with such power and might that it made hell tremble and Heaven sing with joy as the Triumph of Victory resounded from one part of Heaven to another. Our ears will tingle and our hearts will sing, as the faithful and mighty Holy Spirit reveals this victory to us.

The fact remains that Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith, is sitting at the right hand of the throne of God, ready to use His power on behalf of the good of His true children; to make them more than conquerors in all things that the world, the flesh and the devil would throw at them. For His word is unchanging:

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

In the world lack of strength and dependence on others is considered weakness, but in the kingdom of God weakness that causes us to depend on and trust in the Lord is great strength and blessings. For it is when the power of Christ rest upon us, because of our weakness, that we are truly strong. As it is then that we rest upon the Lord and walk in the power of His might and Spirit and not our own. As we by faith tap into all the riches and resources of heaven which are now ours by Christ Jesus because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross two thousand years ago we become more than conquerors. It is when the power of Christ rest upon us, because of our weakness, that we are truly strong. For it is then that we rest upon the Lord and walk in the power of His might and Spirit and not our own.

Yes, as a result of the victories Jesus won on the cross we are now delivered from the hand of our enemies, and are able to serve the Lord without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life. Just like Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit stated about God and us:

“Blessed is the Lord God of Israel,  For He has visited and redeemed His people,  And has raised up a horn of salvation for us  In the house of His servant David,  As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets,  Who have been since the world began,  That we should be saved from our enemies  And from the hand of all who hate us,  To perform the mercy promised to our fathers  And to remember His holy covenant,   The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:  To grant us that we,  Being delivered from the hand of our enemies,  Might serve Him without fear,  In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.  Luke 1:68-75

“May the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it” 1 Thessalonians5:23–24

“May the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” Hebrew 13:20–21

“May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work” 2 Thessalonians 2:16–17

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen” Jude 24–25

YOUR HELP IN TIME OF NEED :

Hebrews 4:16 - Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

If you are facing a challenge right now, I want you to know that you have a standing invitation from your heavenly Father to come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The phrase help in time of need means that you get healing when you are sick, provisions when you are in lack, restoration when your relationship with a loved one breaks down, and favor when news of job cuts or bad prospects are rife.

Pastor, how can I come boldly when I have been a lousy Christian?

You can come boldly because you come to God by the blood of Jesus Christ and not by how you have lived your life. So whenever you come into Gods presence, you dont have to be afraid that your sins will be exposed because the blood of Jesus has removed every one of them. God does not see even one speck of sin in you because He sees only the blood of His Son, which has been shed for your total forgiveness and acceptance.

My friend, when you have failed and need mercy, Gods Word assures you that you will find mercy when you come boldly to God. Mercy means that you dont get the bad things you deserve, such as condemnation, poverty, failure, loss and even death.

And mercy is not the only thing that you will obtain when you come boldly to God. You will also find grace. Grace means that you get the good things that you dont deserve, such as health, protection, anointing, favor, good success and life more abundant.

So come boldly to the One who loves you passionately, unconditionally and with an undying love. Come boldly to Him who knows everything about your situation and has the solution. He has wisdom far beyond that doctor you highly respect, that lawyer you greatly honor and the best experts you can consult. Beloved, come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and grace to help in your time of need!

GIVE CHEERFULLY, NOT OUT OF FEAR :

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. - Matthew 23:23

Some have taught that Jesus did away with the tithe since it is not a specific part of the New Testament teaching. But in this instance, Jesus made reference to the scribes and Pharisees tithing and implied that they were right in doing so. The New Covenant did not do away with the tithe but it clarified what the motives for tithing should be.

Abram tithed over 430 years before the law was given. Jacob also tithed approximately 300 years before the time of the law. Therefore, tithing was a Biblical principle that didn't begin or end with the law of Moses. However, the law of Moses did include tithing as part of its commandments and attached were stiff penalties for those who failed to comply. It was concerning these punishments for not tithing, that the New Testament differed from the Old Testament. Malachi 3:8-9 says that if a man doesn't tithe, he has robbed God and is cursed with a curse. Therefore, people gave out of the motivation of debt and obligation. Jesus redeemed us from this and all the other curses of the law, so that God will not curse us for not tithing.

The apostle Paul also made it very clear that any type of giving motivated by anything less than God's kind of love is useless. He went on to explain in 2 Corinthians 9:7, that God wants us to give, "not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." The type of giving that God loves is cheerful, freewill giving. This does not mean that tithing is contrary to the New Testament. It is the "fear of punishment" motive, that the Old Testament law attached to tithing, that has been done away with. Giving and tithing are still very much a part of the New Testament doctrine, and if done with the New Testament attitude, are still acceptable to God. Be a giver.

DARE TO DECIDE

Be it according to thy word. – Exodus 8:10

I used to worry about making decisions for God. I used to be afraid to step out on faith and declare I was going to do something new that He'd shown me to do. I'd think, "What if I fail?" I was so scared of failing, I'd muddle around in indecision for weeks. Then one day I found out it wasn't my power that was going to carry it out anyway. But it took my decision to move God in on the scene. Once I decided what I was going to do and set it down firm, God backed me!

What I learned is a truth from the Word of God that, if you'll pay attention to it, will revolutionize your life. It's truth that carries an awesome responsibility with it, but it's a wonderful thing to realize.

Here it is: The right, the privilege, and the power to DECIDE has been left by God in the hands of men.

You have the right, for example, to decide where you're going to spend eternity. You have a right to make that decision, and God will back your decision.

God can do everything for you but decide. He's provided the power. He's provided His Name. He's provided the blood of Jesus. He's provided the kingdom of God. He's even made us partakers of it (Col. 1:12).

But He's not going to stuff that inheritance down our throats. Somewhere down the line we each have to make the decision to receive it.

Now the beautiful part is this: When you make that decision, God will back you to the hilt with His power. Once you make a decision to be born again, there's no devil in hell big enough to stop you. All you have to do is decide.

Decide now. Declare your decision. Let it be done unto you according to your words.
Is God leading you in some new direction? Is He leading you to step out in faith for healing or prosperity or to take a whole new step of ministry? Don't let fear hold you back.

AMAZING GRACE
For by grace you have been saved through faith. —Ephesians 2:8

Pressed into service in the Royal Navy, John Newton was dismissed for insubordination and turned to a career trafficking in slaves. Notorious for cursing and blasphemy, Newton served on a slave ship during the cruelest days of trans-Atlantic slavery, finally working his way up to captain.

A dramatic conversion on the high seas set him on the path to grace. He always felt a sense of undeservedness for his new life. He became a rousing evangelical preacher and eventually a leader in the abolitionist movement. Newton appeared before Parliament, giving irrefutable eyewitness testimony to the horror and immorality of the slave trade. We also know him as the author of the lyrics of perhaps the best-loved hymn of all time, “Amazing Grace.”

Newton described any good in himself as an outworking of God’s grace. In doing so, he stands with these great heroes—a murderer and adulterer (King David), a coward (the apostle Peter), and a persecutor of Christians (the apostle Paul).

This same grace is available to all who call upon God, for “in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).

Amazing grace—how sweet the sound—
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind but now I see.

Lives rooted in God’s unchanging grace can never be uprooted.

SIMPLY SERVING (5) :

'Through love serve one another.' Galatians 5:13 NKJV

In his book The Pursuit of Excellence, Ted Engstrom writes: ‘I was cleaning out a desk drawer when I found a flashlight I hadn’t used in over a year. I flipped the switch but wasn’t surprised when it gave no light. I unscrewed it and shook it to get the batteries out but they wouldn’t budge. Finally after some effort they came loose. What a mess! Battery acid had corroded the entire inside of the flashlight. The batteries were new when I put them in and I’d stored them in a safe, warm place. But there was one problem. Those batteries weren’t made to be warm and comfortable. They were designed to be turned on—to be used. And it’s the same with us. We weren’t created to be warm, safe and comfortable. You and I were made to be turned on.’ You must constantly remind yourself that first and foremost you’re called to be God’s servant. That way, interruptions won’t frustrate you. ‘Whenever we have the opportunity, we have to do what is good.’ (Galatians 6:10GWT) Be sensitive and spontaneous; otherwise great opportunities to serve God will pass you by. ‘Never tell your neighbours to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now.’ (Proverbs 3:28 GNT) Look for small tasks nobody else wants to do, then do them as if they were great things—because God is recording it all. Make yourself available. Don’t fill your time with other pursuits that limit your availability. Be ready to jump into service at a moment’s notice. Allow God to change your plans without becoming resentful. As a servant, you don’t get to choose where you’ll serve. God does.
