ENEMIES OF THE CROSS OF CHRIST
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame --- who set their mind on earthly things.
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
Very few of today's preachers and evangelists talk about the many Christians who are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame --- who set their mind on earthly things. Rather many of them talk about how you can have all your earthly dreams and desires fulfilled in God and be a financially super rich successful Christian and not about how you can meet the needs the spiritual and physical needs of the poor and needy brethren! They preach a gospel of self rather than the gospel of Christ. They don't preach on:
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --- unless indeed you are disqualified.
1SAMUEL:15:22: And Samuel said, "Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. (ESV)
