PRAY ABOUT IT ...
'Why is this happening to me?' Genesis 25:22 NIV
The Bible says: 'The Lord answered [Isaac's] prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, "Why is this happening to me?" So she went to enquire of the Lord. The Lord said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger."' (Genesis 25:21-23 NIV) Even when your vision is born of God, you'll experience times of both faith and fear. You can have clarity in one area, yet experience confusion in another. What should you do when this happens? Do what Rebekah did: take it to the Lord in prayer. She asked, 'Why is this happening to me?' Question: Are you experiencing fear and foreboding in the middle of your success? Are you wondering, 'What's wrong with me? Things are going well, so why am I anxious?' You've achieved some success and things are starting to come together after a long, hard struggle. But instead of feeling happy, you're disappointed because you're not experiencing the joy and fulfilment you expected; you're actually worrying about what might go wrong in the future. In every success story you'll find chapters of uncertainty. And when it happens, you must bring your turmoil to the Lord. Ask Him for help with the inner conflict you're experiencing, and to give you peace concerning the vision He's given you. And remember - no matter what you achieve, its ability to satisfy you is limited. No amount of success can ever take God's place in your life
REPEAT WARNINGS
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel. —Galatians 1:6
“Caution, the moving walkway is ending. Caution, the moving walkway is ending.” If you’ve ever used an automated walkway at an airport, you’ve heard this kind of announcement repeatedly.
Why do airports repeat this announcement over and over? To ensure safety and to protect them from liability if someone were to be injured.
Repeated announcements can be annoying, but they do have value. As a matter of fact, the apostle Paul thought repeating a warning was so vital that he did it in the text of Galatians. But his statement had value far beyond the danger of tripping at the airport. Paul warned them not to listen to, nor believe, him or an angel from heaven if they preached “any other gospel” than what they had already heard (1:8).
In the next verse, Paul said it again. It was a warning worth repeating. The Galatians had begun to believe that their salvation was dependent on good works instead of the true gospel: faith in Christ’s work.
The gospel of Jesus—His death, burial, and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins—is the story that we have the privilege and responsibility to share. When we present the gospel, let’s share that the risen Jesus is the only solution to the problem of sin.
He is the way, the truth, the life—
That One whose name is Jesus;
There is no other name on earth
That has the power to save us.
Only one road leads to heaven— Jesus Christ is the way.
DON’T LET YOUR PAST ROB YOU
Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Are you living a life of regrets thinking, If only? If only I had that college education. If only I had married the right girl If only I had taken up the other job If only I had not made that stupid mistake
Is your past robbing you of the joy of today? Then forget your past!
You might say, But Pastor, you do not know what I have done in the past!
Consider Paul. If the devil had anything to bring against Paul, it would be reminders of how he had persecuted the early church and caused the deaths of many, including Stephen, the first Christian martyr.
Paul had done horrendous things that were hard for him to forget. But he had such a revelation of Gods awesome forgiveness that he could say, forgetting those things which are behindI press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Beloved, God has forgiven you of all your sins. He has completely forgiven you and declared, Your sins and lawless deeds, I will remember no more. (Hebrews 10:17)
Like Paul, you can forget your past, the wrongs you have done and the hurts you have caused others or been through yourself. God can take the tears of yesterday and transform them into the miracles of tomorrow. He can restore to you in all abundance what you have lost. He can cause all things, even the painful events of your past, to work together for your good. (Romans 8:28)
Gods Word says, The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. (Isaiah 58:8) His glory will cover your past. Wherever you go, His glory covers your past. It is no longer the same past that you know of because His glory has descended on it. Your past is past. It has been wiped out. It is gone! So dont let your past rob you of todays joy any longer!
HEAVEN
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. - Mark 12:25
The word heaven comes from the Greek word meaning "the sky; heaven as the abode of God"; by implication, "happiness; power; an eternity."
Paul mentioned being caught up into "the third heaven" in 2 Corinthians 12:2. Since "the third heaven" exists, there must also be a first and second heaven. The first is probably the atmospheric heaven, the second, the abode of supernatural angelic beings, and the third, the place where God dwells.
God now dwells in the hearts of His people, but He also sits on His throne in heaven. The Lord's commitment to dwell in us and never leave us or forsake us, must be taken as an indication of His great love for us. Heaven has a real temple which is patterned after the Old Testament tabernacle. Saints who die go immediately into heaven and into the presence of God.
Paul had a vision of heaven that made him long to go there. Most people cling to this physical life for selfish reasons. Only when we lose our life (die to self and live for Christ and others) do we truly find out what life is all about. If we seriously thought about what the scriptures teach us about our life with Christ after this physical life, we would all think like Paul. The things prepared for us are so wonderful that we can't totally comprehend them with our finite mind. We need to value our eternal life more and our temporal life less. This would solve many problems and remove a lot of grief.
THE RACE IS NOT TO THE SWIFT
For they [God’s people] did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.
The world tells you that those with the qualifications, talents and experience get the jobs, promotions and high salaries.
My friend, though you live in this world, as God’s beloved child, you need not be limited by it. You have God’s favor—His unmerited, unearned, undeserved grace!
Ecclesiastes 9:11 tells us, “The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong...” This means that even if you are not the smartest, strongest, most knowledgeable or best looking in the natural, God can still give you good success when you depend on His grace. It is His right hand, His arm and His favor that provide for you, fight for you, defend you and give you increase.
So instead of mulling over your “disqualifications”, be conscious of God’s favor on you. Smile and say, “God’s favor is all over me because of Jesus. I expect good things to happen to me today!” Beloved, be conscious of His favor. Believe it. Confess it. And you will experience it!
ACCESSING GOD’S UNMERITED FAVOR
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. - Romans 5:1–2
How do you access God’s unmerited favor? How do you walk in a greater measure of it?
Romans 5:2 clearly spells out that “we have access by faith into this grace [unmerited favor] in which we stand.” So to gain access to and increase in God’s unmerited favor, the key that we need to have is faith—faith to believe that we are indeed highly favored by God!
Why can we believe that we are highly favored by God?
Ephesians 1:6 tells us that by God’s grace (unmerited favor), God “made us accepted in the Beloved.” In the original Greek text, the word “accepted” is the word charitoo, which means “highly favored.”
So because God has placed you in Christ the Beloved, you are highly favored! Look at yourself in the mirror every morning and boldly declare, “Because I am in Christ, I am highly favored! So I expect good things to come my way.” Beloved, live life conscious of the fact that God highly favors you and you will experience even more of His favor!
