INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES & PROPHESY
Tongues enables the church to speak the mind of God supernaturally. There are divers tongues, or different kind of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 1 Cor 12:10. Some Unknown tongues are not meant to be interpreted, with the natural understanding for He that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men but to God, and in the spirit he ...speaks mysteries.(things that are hidden)as also in praying in tongues. To keep Satan in the dark where he belongs regarding the plans purpose and position of God 1Corinthians 14:2.
There are also tongues that are for a sign to unbelievers, that is an unknown tongue where only the person speaking the tongue is edified. I'm sure you have felt lifted and blessed and somehow empowered after speaking in your heavenly language but you alone were edified. However, the church receives edification when the sister gift of interpretation of tongues come into operation. 1 Cor 14:13.
Interpretation of tongues is another manifestation of the spirit working supernaturally.
The operation of the gift of interpretation of tongues is a supernatural utterance in a known language. However it is still a manifestation of the Spirit of God, and not of the human mind and thoughts, this is known as Prophecy.
So the gift of interpretation of tongues is the ability to translate in a known language

Believers often get confused regarding the operations of the Gift of the Word of Wisdom and the gift of the word of knowledge which is the revelation of mans past, present or future supernaturally. Prophesy is not the foretelling of future events, Prophesy is the testimony of Jesus, Revelation 19:10, it is a supernatural gift that allows divinity to vocally express His heart to humanity. God's heart is disclosed toward a person or People which is why the church is edified, exhorted and comforted. 1 Cor 14:12-28
