GOD CAN

Praise His Name

Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD;  Praise Him, O you servants of the LORD! You who stand in the house of the LORD,  In the courts of the house of our God, Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good;  Sing praises to His name, for it is pleasant. For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His special treasure.  For I know that the LORD is great, And our Lord is above all gods.  Whatever the LORD pleases He does,  In heaven and in earth,  In the seas and in all deep places.. Psalm 135:1-6

The Lord is to be praised because He is good and great. It is pleasant to praise Him. He has chosen us for His special treasure. Whatever the Lord pleases He does in heaven and in the earth for after all He is the Lord and there is none like Him. God’s word states:

He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain;  He  brings the wind out of His treasuries.  He destroyed the firstborn of Egypt,  Both of man and beast.  He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, Upon Pharaoh and all his servants. He defeated many nations  And slew mighty kings-  Sihon king of the Amorites,  Og king of Bashan,  And all the kingdoms of Canaan-  And gave their land as a heritage,  A heritage to Israel His people.  Psalm 135:7-11

God can do anything that He wants including signs and wonders and judgments and defeating nations and slaying mighty kings. He is known for what He has done for His people and He is not like other gods: God’s word records:

Your name, O LORD, endures forever,  Your fame, O LORD, throughout all generations.  For the LORD will judge His people,  And He will have compassion on His servants.  The idols of the nations are silver and gold,  The work of men's hands.  They have mouths, but they do not speak;  Eyes they have, but they do not see;  They have ears, but they do not hear;  Nor is there any breath in their mouths.  Those who make them are like them;  So is everyone who trusts in them.

Bless the LORD, O house of Israel!  Bless the LORD, O house of Aaron!  Bless the LORD, O house of Levi!  You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! Blessed be the LORD out of Zion,  Who dwells in Jerusalem!  Praise the LORD! Psalm 135:13-21

God’s name and power endures for every and His fame through all generations. He shall judge His people and he will have compassion on His servants. For this He is to be praised and blessed by those who fear Him and are called by His name. God’s word states:

Behold, bless the LORD,  All you servants of the LORD,  Who by night stand in the house of the LORD!  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary,  And bless the LORD.  The LORD who made heaven and earth  Bless you from Zion! Psalm 134:1-3

The Lord who made heaven and earth shall bless the servants of the Lord who lift up their hands in the sanctuary and bless His glorious and wonderful name. For no matter what the circumstance, situation, mountain, problem and need He is the Lord. God’s word records:

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation." And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, "I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out that very hour.

But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, "These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; "and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe."

Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed. Acts 16:16-26

Paul and Silas were innocently imprisoned for casting out a spirit from a demon possessed slave. But at midnight in the midst of their circumstance and situation they were praying and singing hymns to God and then suddenly there was a great earthquake. The foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed. God in response to the prayers and praise of His people had miraculously set his friends free.

Unfortunately when God moves with signs and wonders not all are pleased nor understand what He is doing. God’s word records:

And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here." Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. Acts 16:27-34

Because of the words and deeds of Paul and Silas the keeper of the prison and His family put His trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and were saved spiritually and physically as a result of the prayers and praises of God’s servants.

God can turn anything around when His people praise and bless Him in the middle of their trials, testing and circumstances. He can and will do great and wonderful things for His people as the Bless His glorious and wonderful name and trust only in Him. For He is that kind of God who loves to work miracles on behalf of His faithful and true servants when they bless and praise Him. For God’s word is true:

O Israel, trust in the LORD;  He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD;  He is their help and their shield.  You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD;  He is their help and their shield. The LORD has been mindful of us;  He will bless us;  He will bless the house of Israel;  He will bless the house of Aaron.  He will bless those who fear the LORD,  Both small and great.

May the LORD give you increase more and more,  You and your children.  May you be blessed by the LORD,  Who made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S;  But the earth He has given to the children of men.  The dead do not praise the LORD,  Nor any who go down into silence. But we will bless the LORD  From this time forth and forevermore.  Praise the LORD! Psalm 115:9-18
