Let Him Pray
What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:15
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:13-16
Years ago the devil started a rumor. He told a few Christians that as long as they lived in the world, they had to suffer as the world did. He told them they had to share the diseases and the defeat, the poverty and the failure of those around them. Health, prosperity and victorious living aren't concepts some comfort-hungry believer selfishly dreamed up. They are God's ideas. Even Jesus said, "In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration." "But be of good cheer-- take courage, be confident, certain, undaunted--for I have overcome the world.-- I have deprived it of power to harm, have conquered it [for you]" (John 16:33, The Amplified Bible). And prayer releases the power and victories of God into our lives.
Prayer doesn’t solve some problems but all problems for prayer is access to a God who is unlimted in riches, resources and power and is always for and not against Him people. And the strongest weapons we have a praying in the Spirit and singing in the Spirit. We are told to crucify the flesh. Our spirit man must dominate our body. Praying in the Spirit by the Holy Spirit applies spirit to flesh. It causes our spirit to rise up and take charge. Just like using weights to strengthen our arms, praying in other tongues strengthens our spirit. God’s word is unchanging:
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors-not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:11-14
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11
Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:27-28
Our spirit is more powerful than our flesh, and as we give it outflow, the flesh will simply have to yield to it. And praying in the Spirit releases the outflow of the Spirit and it also allows the gifts of the Spirit to operate through us. All the gifts of the Spirit reside in Jesus Christ who now lives in us. And as we release the Spirit through praying in the Spirit we have for the profit of all the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit including the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, the working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, different kinds of tongues and the interpretation of tongues. We alone by our spirit determine if we will allow the gifts of the Spirit which are resident in us to operate or not. We control the tap the closes or opens the rivers of the Spirit to flow from us. God’s word is unchanging:
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. John 7:36-39
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8
The power is in us because God is in us but we must go into the Spirit to let it manifest. And there are many methods of going into the Spirit including praying in the Spirit, singing in the Spirit, mediating on the word of God, or soaking in the presence of God. Yes, ignorance and blindness has kept many of God’s people in the dark from living and walking in the Spirit which is activated by praying in tongues and acting on God’s word. God’s word is unchanging:
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrew 4:14-16
We can come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy to cover our transgressions that are past, and find grace to help, so we don’t go back to the same trouble and suffer the same affliction. If we don’t deal with past transgression our prayers for "bread and butter" will not being answered because the transgression that brought you the affliction of lack of bread and butter is still in place. Hence God’s word admonishes us that if anyone among you is afflicted, ill-treated, suffering evil, He should pray. .The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available (dynamic in its working) (James 5:13-16 Amplified).
We have power to loose ourselves from all things. We can loose ourselves from that continuous sickness, pains and aches, misfortunes of life, oppressions of the devil, and every form of disobedience! We have been charged to loose ourselves, to awake from our sleep and not let the devil take advantage of us anymore! Prayer can and does change all things. Jesus prayed and He was transfigured. We can wreck those forces that are wrecking us with our heartfelt prayer We can pray and be transfigured and see all the sicknesses and diseases plaguing us disappear when it’s right inside our heart. When that is wiped off, then our body will become whole. If the inner man is okay, the outerman will follow suit. God;s word is unchanging:
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:5-10
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 3 John 1:2-4
