Every Thought
And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. We were created to serve God with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. We were not created to have a heart that devises wicked plans. From within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. (1 Chronicles 28:9, Proverbs 6:18, Matthew 5:27-28, Mark 7:21-23, 1 Corinthians 3:21). God created the powerful force of imagination for man to tap into his unlimited creative and productive mind. But when Satan invaded man’s imagination in the Garden of Eden it became filled with his own selfish desires and wicked thoughts. God’s word is unchanging:
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3
Through Christ Jesus, God wants to restore the mind totally by cleaning out selfish desires, goals, and wicked thoughts by casting down every wicked imagination and replacing self centered desires with God created desires and his word. Satan attacks man’s imagination by placing his imagination. A mental picture is flashed into man’s mind. As man begins to entertain and mediate upon the mental picture of the temptation his innermost desires take over his mind and his will is weaken. Man yields his will to the temptation and openly sins. The bible records of such an event:
Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. 2 Samuel 11:2-4
Satan tricks, lies, deceives and temps man who can resist through his restore will for Jesus has destroyed Satan’s hold on the mind.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, Romans 6:8
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Ephesians 4:17-24
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. 2 Peter 2:1-3
Those who have been born again and are filled with the Spirit of God are complete in Christ who is the head of all principality and power. They have access to the same Holy Spirit that Christ had and not only have the mind of Christ but can do greater things that Christ did. God’s word is unchanging:
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John 14:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16
Because they are not really open to the Spirit of God and don’t have the mind of Christ but live and walk in the flesh according to the flesh, many of God’s people don’t recognize that fear, self pity, murmuring, complaining and depression comes from Satan our enemy who likes to exasperate or magnify our reactions when we face negative circumstances. If we give into these negative forces then they not only will affect our negative emotions and their intensity but this will result in our having real physical sickness, as well as even being immobilized, scared and worried. As a result we cannot release our faith to receive what we need for victory. We need to crucify or put to death these negative feelings and allow the Holy Spirit to rise up within us to rebuke Satan and speak the word of faith just like Jesus did with Peter. The bible records:
And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke this word openly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." Mark 8:31-33
We must yield our spirit and our will to the Word of God and the voice of the Spirit not to our fleshly desires or emotions. Our spirit should control our body and emotions and not the other way around. We are primarily spirit beings not fleshly beings! We are created in the image of God to rule over all things and not have things rule over us! As we continually yield ourselves and are guided and controlled by the Holy Spirit, we will not obey the desires and lusts of our flesh and be no longer in bondage. We now have the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead to give us power and strength and to work in use. We can be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might and stand against all the wiles of the devil.
God has appointed Jesus Christ as the legal owner of all things in heaven and in earth and everything between. And as joint heirs seated with Christ in heaven at the Father’s right hand everything that belongs to God belong to Jesus and hence belongs to us as His brothers and sisters. So we don’t have to use our imagination to dwell on negative things or allow negative emotions to occupy us, as we can dwell on the fact that God’s storehouse is full and it all belongs to us? Spiritual riches, perfect health, abundant prosperity and total victory all belongs to us and by faith we can lay claim to it and see it become a reality in the current time of life. Yes, all these wonderful things belong to us as heirs of the kingdom and sons and daughters of the King and kings and Lord’s of Lords and as kings and priests who rule and reign with Christ. God’s word is unchanging:
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:5-8
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
