SATAN

Satan Is Real And Alive

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

nor give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:27

Satan is real and alive and well on planet earth. He has many names including the deceiver, the thief, the liar, the father of lies, the devil and a murderer. Jesus told The Pharisees “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Satan is not a lion but Jesus Christ is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David (Revelations 5:5). But Satan walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. He has many weapons including deception and appealing to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. And Apostle Paul and James tell us that Christian can give place to the devil:

Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.  Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.  But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.  This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.  James 3:13-17

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."   Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:6-7

Satan commands many demons to do his will and their purpose is to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Judy Smith of Will These Bones Live ministry in her article  CAST DOWN IMAGERY tells us:

My dear brothers and sisters, the enemy knows you personally. He has his demons actively at work around you and they know every weakness you have. Satan will wait until just before you reach your destiny, your breakthrough, or purpose and then he’ll release all the dark secrets you have hidden as the very weapons for your destruction (Matthew 4: 1-3; Ephesians 6: 10-12). He’ll bring discouragement, feelings of failure, bitterness, anger, guilt, burnout, anxiety, depression, emptiness, hopelessness, lust, envy, jealousy, etc. into your thought-life/ mind in order to bring your ability to proclaim your victory in Jesus to a HALT! He will do whatever it takes to lock you up in his pit of darkness, doubt despair, and defeat. CHURCH, RESIST HIM, STAND FIRM in your faith (1 Peter 5: 8-11)!

There is not ONE person out there who has never had an attack of some sort from the enemy. Some people "just like us" were Adam and Eve (Genesis 3: 1-7) and King David, the man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13: 14; 2 Samuel 11: 2-4). In both examples, they allowed the desires of their flesh nature to gain control and they acted on their thoughts instead of turning and running in the other direction (into God’s arms) (Matthew 5: 27-30). It is important to note that Scripture does NOT say God will RESIST the enemy for you, oh no. YOU MUST RESIST him and it begins at the thought level.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them (Matthew 4:24,8:16 ). Jesus told us that Satan brings sickness upon even God’s people and puts them into bondage even though a spirit of infirmity:

Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.  And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity." And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.  But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, "There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day."  The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?  "So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound-think of it-for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"  And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. (Luke 13:11-17)

And Apostle Paul tells us of how to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;  praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints-  and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,  for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

It’s to be noted that most of Christendom ignores the phrase “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” and “stir up the gift of God which is in you” because they don’t believe in or understand the value of praying in tongues or praying in the Spirit even though Paul told them:

I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. 1 Corinthians 14:5

What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:15

Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.  Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:39-40

Those who don’t pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints are missing a very important part of standing against the wiles of the devil! As a result they don’t see complete victory over the devil in their own lives or the lives of others!
