IT IS FINISHED

Living in the Finished Works of Christ

The Christian life is not a life-long process of learning how to make God do whatever we want Him to do. Instead, our lives should demonstrate a lifetime commitment to renew our minds so that we agree with God. We have the finished works of Jesus Christ—salvation, deliverance, healing, and prosperity—residing inside of us.However, our victory comes when we know how to withdraw those spiritual blessings. We withdraw them by recognizing and admitting their existence. Physical blessings are spiritual blessings materialized.

Renewing the mind is a lifetime commitment to align our thoughts with God’s Word.
It is a process by which our thoughts, beliefs, and opinions agree with God.
We cannot transform our thinking if we do not read His Word.
When we value His Word, we will not find it difficult to spend time studying and meditating on it.
When we became born-again, our spirits became new; however, our souls and bodies remained unchanged (2 Corinthians 5:17, 18, AMP).
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, AMP).
The spirit of man becomes new as a result of the born-again experience; however, the mind has to be renewed with the Word.
Renewing the mind requires an investment of time.

“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5).
When we became born-again, our spirits became so holy and pure that God Himself can dwell within us.
When God poured His love in us, He poured Himself in us; for God is love.
We are not disappointed or ashamed when we recognize that love dwells within us.
With His presence, we have His ability, His might, and the divine comprehension of true, unconditional love.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
There exist two realms running concurrently—the spiritual and physical realms.
The physical realm is just a materialization of the spiritual world.
We have everything (all spiritual blessings) we will ever need in this life—within our born-again spirits.
We should believe that we have those spiritual blessings even though we don’t immediately see them.
The Word of God is a mirror into the spirit realm; we see our spiritual blessings by looking into the mirror of the Word.

“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” (Philemon 1:6).
Our faith begins to work when we acknowledge every good thing we have in Christ.
“Acknowledging every good thing” doesn’t describe merely confessing the Word but also admitting that we are convinced that we have spiritual blessings within us.

Living in the finished works of Christ requires a commitment to renew the mind with the Word. When we allow ourselves to be transformed by the Word, it increases our confidence and trust in God. Our confidence produces a great compensation of reward. However, whenever we sin, we open the door for Satan, welcoming an unnecessary battle with our confidence in God’s Word.

When Jesus said “it is finished” on the cross, He was saying that He had successfully paid for everything we will ever need.
For Christians, renewing the mind with the Word is a way of life (Romans 12:2, AMP).
Our spirits were changed at the point of salvation; however, our souls (mind, will, and emotions) have to undergo a continual transformation (2 Corinthians 5:17, AMP).
We have within our recreated spirits all the spiritual blessings we need to live this Christian life (Ephesians 1:3).
We access those blessings when we allow the Word to change us.
It is important that we believe in and acknowledge every good thing within us; in the kingdom of God nothing works without our faith (Philemon 1:6).
However, we do not use our faith to get anything outside of the redemptive plan of God. For example, we cannot use faith to commit adultery.
Our faith is a positive response to what Jesus has already done; His finished works include our salvation, deliverance, prosperity, and healing.
Faith simply takes possession of those finished works.

Whenever we sin, we give the enemy access to our lives. Satan immediately attacks our confidence in the Word.
“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward” (Hebrews 10:35).
The grace of God helps us overcome temptation and live a life that pleases God.
We struggle with feelings of condemnation and unworthiness when we sin. The shame of sin cripples our confidence.

The finished works of Christ manifest in our lives when we learn to be led by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our personal guide and our unseen partner in life. His purpose is to guide us into God’s specific plans and purposes for our lives.

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6, AMP).
When we trust the Lord with our hearts, we trust Him with our spirits.
The “heart” in the scripture above is not referring to a physical heart but a spiritual heart. The heart is the core of us—it’s the hidden, spirit man.
The spirit man agrees with and believes the Word.
When we believe with our spirits, our belief surpasses what we see in the natural, physical world.
Instead, we believe the Word, which is spiritual reality.
The Lord wants to guide us into His predestined path for us. He wants us to take certain instructions and directions from Him to lead us into that path.
The Holy Spirit is a great teacher; He knows the direction we should take in every situation.
With mere human understanding, we will go in a way that seems right, but at the end of that way lies destruction.
We can avoid following the wrong paths in life, by acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s presence and guidance in every situation we face.
He uses our born-again (recreated) spirits to guide us.
For instance, whenever we get a “hunch,” it is the recreated spirit within us (along with the Holy Spirit) trying to get our attention.
The Holy Spirit may not tell us all the details whenever we face something, but it is important that we follow the “hunches.”
The best way we can practice following the Holy Spirit is by positioning ourselves by spending time in prayer, studying, and meditating on the Word.

As Christians, we should be aware of our unseen partner living inside of us. It is the person of the Holy Spirit who dwells within our recreated spirits. Many times we face trouble in our lives and begin to panic. We forget that the Holy Spirit is with us, and He has all the answers we will ever need in this life. When we acknowledge His presence and ask Him for wisdom, He will show us which path to take. Also, we need to position ourselves to hear Him by slowing down enough to read and study the Word.

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter; that he may abide with you forever” (John 14:16).
The Holy Spirit is also called the Holy Ghost, the Comforter and the Spirit of Truth (John 14:15-26).
When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us.
He abides in our recreated spirits and teaches us all the things we need to know in order to live successfully.
He guides us into all truth; He gives us knowledge about the future (John 16:5-13).
Man is a tri-part being—he is a spirit, possesses a soul (mind, will, emotions, and personality), and lives in a physical body.
Feelings are the voice of the flesh. Reasoning is the voice of the soul. The conscience is the voice of the human spirit.
At the point of salvation, the spirit is the only part of man that is born again (recreated or made new).
The Holy Spirit uses our spirits to guide us. For example, whenever we get a “hunch” or our conscience is bothering us, it is really the Holy Spirit trying to tell us something.
He is often volunteering information that we ignore due to our busy schedules.
To become more sensitive to His leading, we can acknowledge Him by talking to Him and praying in the Spirit.
We can also read and study the Word while asking Him for guidance. The Word is spiritual.

How do we know that we have heard from God? Here are five safeguards:
        Does it require faith?
        Does it require courage?
Does it line up with the Word?
        Does it bring peace?
Does it go against the rationalizations of the world?

    John 16:5-13

When we became born again, God placed spiritual blessings on the inside of us. We also have the Holy Spirit within us to guide us until we see the physical manifestation of those spiritual blessings. He guides through revelation knowledge (or wisdom that surpasses our natural understanding).

There are spiritual blessings stored up for us in the spirit realm. The Word of God gives us access to our spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3).
The Word is like a mirror; it shows us who we are and what we have according to God’s plan.
The recreated spirit of man believes the Word; the body believes the physical senses.
The un-renewed mind also believes the senses.
When a person believes with his heart (or spirit), he makes a decision to believe God’s Word, despite his physical circumstances (Proverbs 3:5).
When we walk in the spirit, we walk in the Word. However, we can’t believe the Word if we don’t know the Word.
Faith brings our spiritual blessings into physical manifestation.

God gives us knowledge when we don’t know what to do; it’s called revealed knowledge. Peter, whose name was Simon, received revelation from the Father about Jesus’ true identity (Matthew 16:13-18).
Jesus then called him Peter, which means “a piece of a rock” because of the revelation he received.
The revelation didn’t come from Peter’s mind but directly from God.
Feelings are the voice of the body. Reasoning is the voice of the mind. Conscience is the voice of the spirit.
The conscience is often described as a “hunch” or a nudge inside of us.
The Holy Spirit speaks the truth to our spirits; He reveals to us knowledge that exceeds our natural understanding (Proverbs 4:27; John 16:13, 14, AMP).
Jesus said He will build His Church through revelation knowledge. When we receive revelation from God, the gates of hell cannot overpower it (Matthew 16:18).
Jesus said He will give us the keys to how the kingdom operates. Revelation knowledge is wisdom; it enables us to succeed in the kingdom of God.
When we spend time with Him, we will know Him (John 10:27).

Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings to receive wisdom (1 Kings 3:3-9, AMP).
Solomon understood that he needed wisdom.
He positioned himself to hear; he had a desire to acquire wisdom that came from God.
“Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth” (Proverbs 4:5).
We can receive the wisdom we need through the Word of God (Proverbs 4:6-13).
Wisdom brings many benefits, such as promotion, honor, direction, and solutions for life.

We must renew our minds to learn about and receive the finished works of Christ. Our approach to God should be to thank Him for what Jesus has already done and ask Him to show us how to access those finished works. When you truly believe and receive the finished works of Christ, you know the things you need and desire are already available. Start believing God more than what you see and perceive with your physical senses.

Two keys to receiving the finished works of Jesus Christ:
        Believe and acknowledge
Believing eventually demands a confession. You always speak what you believe.
Your belief and acknowledgement is the protocol for withdrawing the finished works of Christ out of the spiritual realm and into the natural.
Many times we block God because of our lack of understanding.
Positioning ourselves to receive the finished works of Christ is everything.
The only way to experience the manifestation of the power of God is by walking in the Spirit.

You must remain fixed on the Word of God in order to walk in the Spirit.
You must believe in something that has no proof in the physical realm.
Your body only trusts what the five senses tell it; however, your spirit believes the Word of God.
Trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all your ways (Proverbs 3:5, 6).
As you acknowledge God, He will lead you on paths that unlock His promises, releasing the finished works of Christ into your life.
Submit your life daily to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit knows how to turn every negative situation around.
Keep your mind focused on God, and He will keep you in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3).
Trust God enough to lean on Him and rely on Him confidently in all situations and circumstances.
Peace always comes when you stay focused on Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is a truth-giving spirit. He will always say what the Father says (John 16:12-15).
The Holy Spirit never speaks His own message, only the Father’s message to you.
The Spirit of God knows about your future.
He will lead and guide you into all truth.

Wisdom is the principle thing. You can tap into the wisdom of God through praying in tongues. This grace gift enables you to pray things you don’t even know about and gives you access to secret truths and hidden things that are not obvious to your natural mind and human understanding.

    Wisdom is the principle thing.
When you embrace wisdom, it will exalt you.
        Wisdom anoints you with grace.

Be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9, 10).
Praying in tongues is a key to tapping into the hidden wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 2:6-16).
When you pray in tongues, you speak hidden wisdom and secrets that are hidden from the devil, but hidden for your edification (1 Corinthians 14:2-16).
When you pray in tongues, you also pray about things you don’t even know about.
Spending time praying in tongues every day is only going to benefit you.

The prayer language of tongues is a grace gift.
The Holy Spirit will give you inside information.
Praying in tongues will make you smarter.

We must become God-inside minded and develop a consciousness of our unseen partner, the Holy Spirit. Under the new covenant, we are to be governed by the leading of the Holy Spirit and not the Law of Moses. God promises to personally teach, lead, and guide those who belong to Him.

God will begin to reveal things to you when He puts His laws into your mind and writes them on your heart (Hebrews 8:6-13).
God promises to personally teach people to know Him, under the new covenant.
If you will believe that God has been merciful to your unrighteousness, He will do everything He said He would do in your life.
You must believe God has been merciful toward you.
When you fail or encounter bad decisions in your life, God promises not to remember those things anymore.
When you forget that God has been merciful toward your unrighteousness, condemnation and guilt enter in. You will try to get rid of those emotions by trying to get back into God’s good graces through self-effort.
When you are in condemnation, you cannot hear from God.
You cannot receive the leadership God is trying to provide when you are in condemnation.
Under the new covenant, it is all about positioning yourself in righteousness, by faith, so that the Holy Spirit can do what He has been sent here to do.
When you allow yourself to take on guilt, condemnation, and shame, you crawl back under the rock of the curse and the Law.

You have been delivered from the Law (Romans 7:6).
When you are no longer under the Law, boasting in your own efforts and righteousness ceases.

The “ministration of death” is referring to the Ten Commandments, but you have been given the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:7-11).
Under this dispensation of grace, we are governed by the Holy Spirit, not the Law that was written on stone tablets.
Under grace, we will see many more manifestations of God’s power because we are Sprit-led.
God will give people new hearts that are capable of being personally led by the Holy Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-28).
When you understand what it means to be led by the Holy Spirit, you will keep everything God tells you to do.
When you became born again, you received the promise of the Holy Spirit, Who came to live inside of you. You now possess an abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.
Increase your awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence.

Jesus came to redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. If you are a son of God, you are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14-16).
God’s spirit works together with your born-again spirit.
God will use your born-again spirit to show you where to go, like a candle lights a path in the darkness (Proverbs 20:27).
The Word of God is the mirror that shows you the reflection of your born-again spirit.
As you look in the reflection of the Word of God, it will show you what corrections you need to make in your life.
You cannot be led by the Spirit and not look into the mirror of the Word of God.

Five Safeguards of Being Led by the Holy Spirit:
Does what you are hearing/perceiving require faith?
Does what you are hearing/perceiving require courage?
Does what you are hearing/perceiving line up with the Word of God and God’s way of doing things?
Do you have peace residing on the inside of you?
Does what you are hearing/perceiving go against the reasons and rationalizations of the world?

How to Train Your Spirit to Be Led by the Holy Spirit:
You must feed on God’s Word to be able to distinguish His voice.
Make sure that you are serious about walking in love.
When you walk in the spirit of love, you walk in the spirit of God.
            Practice forgiveness.
        Pray in tongues every day.
Praying in tongues is one of the best ways to develop your spirit. It helps your mind become quiet.
        Acknowledge God’s presence every day.

God died for the ungodly (Romans 5:6).
Jesus died for us because of His love for us.
We are saved from the wrath to come; therefore, we can rejoice and be of good cheer (vv. 8, 9).

Jesus paid the price for our reconciliation and deliverance (v. 10).
If you place a demand on God’s Word, all things are possible.
No more limits; God will supply all of your demands.
The blood of Jesus doesn’t just atone for our sins; it cleanses us of them completely (v. 11).

Don’t ever turn away from the truth that you are made righteous by faith in Christ.
Your faith in Christ determines your spiritual position.
The blessing is not made available to you because of your good deeds; it is through what Jesus did that it is available to you.
Being made righteous causes you to rule and reign in life.
Holiness is a fruit of righteousness.
            Grace is the root.
Your acceptance of this grace causes you to be made righteous.
            Righteousness will produce holiness.
Sin entered the world through Adam (v. 12).
Every human being is born into sin because of what Adam did.
The gift of righteousness came by faith in one man, Jesus Christ (v. 17).
You will rule and reign like a king when you receive the gift of righteousness.
To receive means to take it into your possession.
Don’t let go of the gift of righteousness. The devil will constantly attack your identity.
Just as it wasn’t fair that everyone should have to be born into sin because of what one man did, neither is it fair for us to be made righteous (v. 19). Even still, God’s love for us made this possible.

Sin has natural consequences, but it won’t unravel your righteous.
