We often think of laying down your life for someone else in terms of dying. That's what Jesus did. He loved us so much He laid down His life by dying in our place so that we could live.
But now, He's asked us to lay down our lives in a different way. He's asked us to show our love, not by dying for others, but by living for them.
Exactly what does that mean?
Sometimes it means giving our lives by spending time in prayer for someone. Other times it means giving of ourselves with love and understanding. Many times it means laying down our own selfish desires in order to meet the needs of another.
Romans 15:1 puts it this way, "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves."
When you lay down your life, you live to please God instead of yourself. You let your life be guided by His love. If love leads you to the person next door, you follow. When love calls you to intercede for someone in need, you yield.
Commit yourself today to lay down your own life--and take up the love life. Say:
"Father, in Jesus' Name, I see from Your Word that You were willing to give of Yourself, in the person of Your Son, for all men. I understand that because Jesus is Lord of my life, I, too, am called to give myself to others. I choose to accept that calling today.
"I'll give of my time. I'll give of Your love in me. I'll be strong and lift up those who are weak. I'm willing to be available to be used of You so that those around me might experience the abundant life You have provided.
"You have loved me, Lord, with the greatest love there is. I count it a privilege now to share that love with others. I thank You for it in Jesus' Name. Amen."
YOU ARE WELL ABLE
Scripture reading: Deuteronomy 1:19-33
There is a difference between Receiving the Promise of God and Possessing it. Israel certainly found that out.
In order to see the fulfillment of God's promises you must act upon them. You must move into a position where you can take possession. You must seize them by Force! Jesus declare,..."And from the days of John until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." Matthew 11:12
Don't be complacent. Don't vacillate.
* Don't say, "If it's God's will, He'll heal me," We know the promise and provision of God for healing. You can either settle for the sickness or make up your mind that you will not settle for anything less than the fulfillment of God's promise in your life.
* Don't say,.."I might not be able to fulfill my vision." continuously declare that your God-given vision will become a reality.
* Don't say,.."I hope my family will get saved." Boldly declare, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
When God brought Israel to the border of the promised land, only two men-Joshua and Caleb-declared, "We are well able." Their spiritual vision gave them the ability to focus on the promise God have made to Israel. They believe it and wanted to act upon it. But the majority of the people didn't have spiritual vision, so they did not enter in and claim their promised land. Instead, they returned to the wilderness to wander for another 4o years.
Don't wander in the wilderness for 40 years! let God give you spiritual vision that will enable you to see beyond the circumstance of your impossibility.
"Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee; go up and possess it, as the Lord of thy fathers hath said unto thee; Fear not neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 1:21
You are at the edge of your promise land. Activate your Faith. Don't fear. Don't be discouraged. Focus your vision, don't turn to the right or left. March forward in assurance to claim the promise of God.
PUT YOUR LOVE INTO ACTION :
If anyone has this world’s goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him? Let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth. - 1 John 3:17–18, AMP
I’ve heard it said that you can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving. Notice this verse tells us that love isn’t just about our words or thoughts, it’s about our actions. Love is about reaching out and meeting the needs of others. Sometimes meeting someone’s needs is as simple as a smile or sharing a word of encouragement. There are many ways to show the love of God. Can you pay for someone’s gas or groceries? Do you see a need in someone’s life that you can meet? Remember, you are the hands and feet of Jesus in the earth. The Lord wants to bless you today so that you can be a blessing to others. He wants to work through you to show His love and compassion.
Today and every day, look for ways to put your love into action. The Bible says that it’s His kindness that leads people to repentance. He wants to show His kindness in the earth through you. Step out and sow good seeds of love by meeting the needs of others. God promises that those seeds will produce an abundant harvest in your life in return!
As a believer, you have Jesus living in you! You are carrying around other people's miracles! Let His love flow through you to minister to someone today!
Faith reaches out & receives what God has already provided!
