THE LAW OF SELF DEFENSE IS IN THE BIBLE AND GOD ANOINTS PEOPLE TO KILL PEOPLE - 1 Kings 19:15 Then the LORD said to him: "Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; and when you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Syria. 16 Also you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi as king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah you shall anoint as prophet in your place. 17 It shall be that whoever escapes the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and whoever escapes the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.

Hi Walter,

I must remind you that one of the commandments is “Thou shalt not kill”(Ex. 20: 13). We are under a New Covenant in which Jesus re-interprets what it means. He said, “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults without cause his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool’ shall be liable to the hell of fire.” We carry on a different kind of warfare, as Paul point out. “Though we live in the world we are not carrying on a worldly war, for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have diving power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience when your obedience is complete” (2 Cor. 10: 4 – 6). I am not a so-called pacifist because Jesus has a way of changing the world through the ministry that we have been given. However, because we have churches which do not preach the Gospel with the signs and wonders and necessary miracles with the lack of salvations, Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the non-use of the weapons of the warfare which include the “Signs Following” and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and witnessing by believers, the result is a world that develops its own ideas of justice and mercy by creating armies who are directed by Godless governments, our idea of Justice is not God’s Justice. When sin rules the churches and governments, our world is not obtaining the plans that our God has planned for us. Both you and I have seen what happens when the worst, immoral, godless people get saved, baptized by the Holy Spirit and turn into the world’s best Christian citizens. They become living examples of God’s Mercy and Justice. Jesus has a better way of dealing with the sinful people, this is the reason why Paul also wrote, “For we know him who said, ‘Vengeance is mind, I will repay.’ And again, ‘The Lord will judge his people.’ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” The most powerful way to deal with people is to turn them over to Jesus and stand back and watch what He does to them. Then, we see how fearful it is to fall into the hands of the living God. When we Christians do what Jesus wants us to do, we kill our enemies with the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit as we forgive them and we preach the Gospel and witness about Jesus Christ. Even His enemies will believe. When, we Christians start to do what Jesus has commanded, then we shall change our society and our world.

As you may recall, it was said by several historians that the ministry of John Wesley changed Great Britain so much as it’s society was changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of that, unlike France, where the aristocracy including the king and hundreds of thousands French citizens were killed in the revolution that happened there, it did not happen in England. This what happens when we Christians go about our business of doing the ministry of Jesus Christ. It took about 140,000 house churches, called classes, to change England, Scotland and Ireland and reached out across the whole world. That’s the kind of what I call “Christian Life” to deal with the problems in our society. I am not a pacifist in the way that people want to speak of a pacifism that people want to mistake as an escape from being an active expression of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Because, you see, if we do whatever Jesus commands us, we discover the reason why He said, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matt. 16: 24). He had a very interesting way to recruit martyrs. We must always be active in our warfare, we cannot run away from it.
