THE LORD IS GOOD

The LORD Is Good

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Psalm 27:13

The LORD is good,  A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  But with an overflowing flood  He will make an utter end of its place,  And darkness will pursue His enemies.Nahum 1:7-8

There is no one who is merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth like the Lord who keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation (Exodus 34:6-7). And His word is unchanging:

Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man;  You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion  From the strife of tongues.  Psalm 31:19-20

He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. Psalm 33:5

You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance. Psalm 65:11

Yes God loves to satiate the soul of His people with abundance so that His people shall be satisfied with His goodness. Because He is a good God He loves to provide goodness and prosperity to His people through His Spirit and His angels. Hence the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, and goodness. And the fruit of the Spirit is manifested in all goodness, righteousness, and truth! God desires to fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in His people  and they in Him (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12).

God’s heart is moved by His afflicted ones. He hears the cry of the afflicted (Job 34:28). He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard (Psalm 22:24)He who  has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows,  was stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted, is very concerned and understanding about His afflicted ones. His word to them is unchanging:

Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth!  And break out in singing, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people,  And will have mercy on His afflicted.   But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me,  And my Lord has forgotten me."  "Can a woman forget her nursing child,  And not have compassion on the son of her womb?  Surely they may forget,  Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. Your sons shall make haste;  Your destroyers and those who laid you waste Shall go away from you. Lift up your eyes, look around and see; All these gather together and come to you.  As I live," says the LORD, "You shall surely clothe yourselves with them all as an ornament,  And bind them on you as a bride does. "For your waste and desolate places,  And the land of your destruction,  Will even now be too small for the inhabitants;  And those who swallowed you up will be far away. Isaiah 49:13-18

"O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,  Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,  And lay your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by the LORD,  And great shall be the peace of your children.  In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;  And from terror, for it shall not come near you.  Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.  Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.  "Behold, I have created the blacksmith  Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an nstrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy.  No weapon formed against you shall prosper,  And every tongue which rises against you in judgment  You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,  And their righteousness is from Me,"  Says the LORD. Isaiah 54:11-17

When you hurt or offend the afflicted you touch the apple of God’s eye. He doesn’t look kindly at those who judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked; who don’t defend the poor and fatherless; who don’t do justice to the afflicted and needy; who don’t deliver the poor and needy from from the hand of the wicked.  They are His enemies and not His friends and will in due season get their due reward! God’s word is unchanging:

I know that the LORD will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor.  Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name;  The upright shall dwell in Your presence. Psalm 140:12-13

Do not rob the poor because he is poor,  Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;  For the LORD will plead their cause,  And plunder the soul of those who plunder them. Proverbs 22:22-23

Yes, the LORD is good,  a stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.  But with an overflowing flood  He will make an utter end of its place,  and darkness will pursue His enemies! And you don’t want to be an enemy of God? God’s word is unchanging:

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,  but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.  Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people."  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:26-31

But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. Jude 1:5

"I know your works, love, service, faith, and your patience; and as for your works, the last are more than the first. "Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.  "And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent.  "Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. "I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. Revelation 2:19-23

But for those who seek God with all their heart the LORD is good. He will meet every need in their life.(John 14: 14). He will perfect everything for the and make them glad (Psalm 138:8). We have a good God who can change any kind of situation and there is nothing impossible for Him (Jeremiah 32:27). He will solve all their problems and bless them with all sufficiencies. His word is unchanging:

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.  The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart,  And saves such as have a contrite spirit.  Many are the afflictions of the righteous,  But the LORD delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones;  Not one of them is broken. Psalm 34:17-20
